i know that this speaker is no longer available but this is the best floor speaker for the entry level sound system. if you are looking to get into the lower level of surround sound than go with energy speakers. amazing and great highs and lows

Replaced my bookshelf Front Left and Right speakers with these towers, while upgrading from 5.1 to 7.1. They sound fantastic. Admittedly, I didn't do much research but I'm happy with the purchase.

I have been looking for tower speakers for my home theatre speakers for awhile. Went to listen to the Energy speakers at Best Buy and was impressed enough to buy them. Could not be happier with my purchase!

My 30 year old $1000 per pair speakers finally gave out. Given that I had not been in the market for L/R speakers for sometime ( sub / center / rear i had upgraded ) I was not informationally ready to purchase.....however the clock was ticking as I had expiring BB rewards on hand!......After doing some frantic researching I set my baseline ( sound quality ) on the Pioneer Andrew Jones budget speakers and the Polk T50s. I was not going to spend $500+ for a pair of speakers. After listening to the budget speakers and being not overly impressed.... they were okay.....I wandered into the Magnolia room where the Energy CB10s were on sale; $160 for a pair. The CB10s sounded great and when paired with a sub produced a sound I was looking for...... note the Magnolia room acoustics are far better than where I listened to the budget speakers at. During the excellent demo the salesman put on he also played the CF30 tower speakers and demonstrated why tower speakers are better than bookshelf speakers. I had to do more research........by the time I finished........ the sale on the CB10s and CF 30 ($ 380 a pair) was over.. Ouch ! However the CF 50s were now on sale at ( $440 ) a pair. More than I wanted to pay.... but there were a few returned CF50 units at various BB stores for $153....each... I visted the stores and purchased the best of the available returned units.........a dice roll.....of course I could bring them back....but what a hassle if necessary.....The speakers performed just as expected and my AV unit cal data supports that subjective assesment.. In the 5.1 Dolby Digital mode I get excellent results..... and when I switch to music and stereo mode, the true test, they sound great. The speakers are far better than my budget bottom line performance requirement......at a price below my max target........I have purchased two items from the Magnolia store, a 4K TV was the other item, and each time the products met my performance and prices requirements. Why were the speakers returned ?....A close inspection of the tweeters revealed a dimple in each one.... not a hole or a crack.......research indicated that sonically it would not be detectable.....nor fail. I could not hear any issue and my AV cal system data indicated no issues........... at full price I would have returned them simply on principle......... but at the reduced price....they are a keeper....! Would I pay $440 a pair for them? That would have likely happened if the returned units were not acceptable. The bookshelf and budget towers did not meet my sonic requirements.

While I'll never claim to be an "audiophile" I can say that these speakers are good performers. They are efficient and produce pleasant room filling sound while being powered by a very modest receiver. The sound from the CF-50's is clear and well balanced at all volume levels. They are handsomely designed and are fairly compact for floor standing speakers.
For anyone considering upgrading from bookshelf speakers, these will absolutely blow away typical bookshelf offerings from Polk and Bose.

just purchased a new Surround sound system from Best Buy, the guys in the Magniolia Dep. were super, i started with the Mirage nanostat"s then added the Energy 10inch 400watt Sub. but there was still something missing in the sound, don't get me wrong it sounds absolutely outstanding, then i added the Energy CF-50 floor speakers and all i can say is wow they fill in the mid range gaps between the sub and satalite surround speakers, they fill the room with just pure clean sound and look just as good. these speakers have a clean tight base, clear crisp highs and super mids, the complament any system you add them to..

I’ve spent a fair amount of time setting up a high quality mid range theater system. And after countless hours listening to floor tower speakers (with the greatest patience from Best Buy associates) I kept returning to the Energy CF-50. I wanted towers to finish off my system that would compliment an already existing setup (Mirage satellites, Polk subs and center powered by Onkyo 3007 & other nice goodies) without overshadowing them. Set up as L/R fronts and a few hours of tuning, we were rewarded with excellent sound reproduction across the board from these towers in our living room. Highs are crisp and clean, mids smooth and even, and the bass has a tight thump without distorting. We now hear things in previously viewed Blue Ray and DVDs that were not as apparent without the CF-50s lending a hand. I can’t say enough about these speakers. My wife now wants that sound quality duplicated on another system in our bedroom for her enjoyment since I’m always using the new setup now.

I had a Sony surround sound system that was average at best. The Huge speakers took up way to much room and were mostly cabinet. They sounded okay but I wanted something smaller with higher quality sound. I saw these on Best Buy.com on sale. I read some reviews and pulled the trigger on them. I couldn't be more happy. Crystal clear sound and they're about half the size of the Sony's. You will NOT be disappointed. If you find these on sale, just do it! Even my wife likes them and she hates when I spend money to upgrade anything but her jewelry.

I purchased these speakers as a replacement for satellite fronts that had come as part of package. Those were fine but I wanted a deeper, richer sound. I listened to several different speaker combinations in the Magnolia room, with music, dialog-heavy music, etc...and landed on these as giving at very full, rich sound without needed tons of power from the receiver.
I did a little more research on various speaker companies and went back a week later to listen again and make a purchase. Fortunately, these were then on sale for $220 per speaker, and it made the decision a no-brainer. They look great, sounds fantastic, giving a fuller, rich sound for games and movies. Putting the receiver in stereo mode and letting music hum through these really makes them shine...the music sounds fuller and more immersive.
2 Things to note:
1) These speaker need some burn-in time to really loosen up the cones and produce the best sound. They recommend 100 hours of normal volume and I did notice a positive difference from when I first set them up until a week later.
2) Make sure to put music in stereo mode on your receiver instead of the pre-processed virtual surround stuff, and set your sub crossover frequency properly. I was ready to return these because I hated the sound coming out until I did that. Once I got the settings right I noticed a world of difference.
I've had these in operation for about 3 weeks now and couldn't be happier with the sound and look.
