    Enter The Ninja Blu-Ray Review

Enter The Ninja was the first in the ninja “trilogy” that MGM released in theaters back in the early ‘80’s and, along with “The Octagon”, kicked off the ‘80’s ninja movie craze. Publisher Kino Lorber Studio Classics released this film on Blu-ray along with the second movie in the “trilogy”, Revenge Of the Ninja. Since I’m only reviewing the disc and not discussing the movie’s plot, this will be a spoiler free review. If you’re looking to buy this title to add into your library then it’s likely you know the plot. For a movie that is over 35 years old, I was surprised at how good the picture looked. I did observe some specks in various spots of the movie as it progressed but I felt it didn't detract too much from the viewing experience. Sound is a DTS-HD 2.0 mix. It’s adequate but I would have liked to have seen a 5.1 mix available considering the amount of combat sound effects that are present in the film, such as gun shots, swords clanging and shuriken being thrown. A 3-minute trailer for the film was the only extra included. I was disappointed to see that, as I think it would have been interesting to see some current interviews with surviving members of the cast. Surely there must have been some interviews done with the cast after filming was completed that could have made their way onto the Blu-ray too. In spite of the disc’s shortcomings as far as extras and sound, I still think this is worth a buy, especially if you’re old enough to remember the 80’s ninja movie craze. This movie is certainly not an academy award winner by any stretch of the imagination but still is an entertaining film nonetheless. Get it before it vanishes into the night.

"Enter The Ninja" Is the first entry in Cannon Group's ninja Trilogy. The story line is predictable. The martial arts is a bit overboard at times. It is fun to watch and good entertainment. The original trailer is the ONLY special feature. Interviews and other features would make this product much better.

Enter the Ninja is the first in a trilogy of Ninja movies from the Cannon Group. Great movie with plenty of action, humor and cheesy acting.

I grew up watching Sho Kosugi and fell in love with ninjas in the 80’s. Had to add this to my Blu-ray collection of martial arts action movies.
