I'm really impressed with Epson-EcoTank Printer! It's the best printer that I have ever used. I love the speed, print quality and ease of use.
The set-up was very simple and fast. The included instructions walked me through each step perfectly. I have never used a refillable ink printer and really like how simple the compartments were to fill. There was no mess and the bottles stop filling when the tank has reached the max amount. I think the longest part of the whole process of setting the printer was waiting for the ink to charge. It was great. They also give you two bottles of each color ink to fully fill up each reservoir with some spare ink left over for future use. I like how you can see the amount of ink that is left from the outside of the printer and how the number used for ordering is located right by where you fill the ink for easy reordering.
Printing is fast and easy. I downloaded the Epson iPrint on my phone and have printed out several items and I have had no issues. I appreciate the simplicity of being able to print directly from my phone. My previous wireless printer would sometimes give me problems. I would have to take the extra time to print from my desktop. My children have also printed several items from their Chromebook for school and they love how easy it is. They also love how the tray slides out automatically when the printer starts printing. I like the two-sided printing. It creates less waste and is more efficient. I'm happy how quickly items print. It's very fast even on color detailed pictures. The print quality is amazing. I am definitely going to be printing out my pictures from home from now on.
I really like the 4.3" touchscreen. It's very responsive to touch and there several settings and maintenance options that can be accessed from the screen. You can also see the Job status including completed tasks with time and dates. There are a ton of options and things that can be done just from the printer touchscreen.
I think what I'm most excited about is the refillable ink! It's so annoying when one color from a cartridge is out and the whole set needs to be replaced. It gets very expensive over time and it seems very wasteful. The bottles to fill the tanks for this printer are very reasonably priced and last a long time. “This is a review for the Epson EcoTank Pro ET-5850 Supertank Printer that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.”

The Epson EcoTank Pro ET-5850 is an outstanding all-in-one printer for business and home office use. It delivers incredibly fast and sharp prints, supports duplex printing and scanning, and its ink tank system lasts much longer than traditional cartridges—saving both time and money. The wireless setup is seamless, and the touchscreen makes navigation simple. It's a bit of an investment, but the performance and ink efficiency are worth it.

This is the best inkjet printer that Epson makes for the money. You can't go wrong with this printer. The text is sharp, and the copies print fast. I have owned 12 inkjet printers and I have learned two things to keep them printing. First, print several copies every day to keep the nozzles from drying up. Second, since this is an EcoTank printer, keep the ink above the lowest level to prevent air from getting into the print head. Printers that have inkjet cartridges get air into the system every time you have to add a new cartridge causing print problems and that is one of the reasons one has to clean the print heads. I have also owned the Epson ET-5880 but had to return it after 10 months after a failed firmware update. The machine failed to turn off and back on after the update. This was also an excellent printer but not available when I needed a new printer. While waiting on availability for the ET-5880 or ET-5850, I purchased the ET-4850. For $250.00 more one can have the ET-5850 which is far superior to the ET-4850. The ET-5850 and ET-5880 come with 8 bottles of ink and the ET-4850 has only 4 bottles. The print on the ET-4850 is light and the LCD screen is much smaller compared to the ET-5850 or ET-5880. I have the ET-5850 and the ET-4850 setup as network printers so everyone in our house can print to them anytime from any device. Just make sure you download and install the drivers for the printers before you connect via Wi-Fi, USB cable, or Ethernet cable. After you get your printer setup and printing do yourself a favor and order a replacement ink maintenance box. The number of copies you get before you have to replace the box depends on how you use your printer. Every time you turn the machine off and on and clean the print heads you waste ink, and ink is dumped into the ink maintenance box. So, do yourself a favor print every day and leave your printer on.

Bought this for my wife's small business office and just finished setting it up. I've bought and set up a lot of printers over the years and, admittedly, many of them have become very simple to set up. But this ET-5850 is the simplest I've ever come across.
I was fascinated and honestly a bit nervous about the EcoTank concept. The idea of dumping pigment into the printer felt like a potentially messy undertaking. But trust me on this: They've really thought it through, engineered it well, and made it just stupid easy. The pigment bottle nozzles are keyed to where you can't accidentally put the wrong color in the wrong tank. There was no dripping or spilling, and it honestly looked like you would have to really make a conscious effort to do either. The nozzles fit nice and snugly, and when you have them seated all the way then they begin transferring their contents into the tank. It doesn't feel like they could have made this work any better or easier than they did. I say all that because that was the part I was most hesitant about when ordering this printer - and now I know it's just a non-factor.
The rest of the setup was just as easy. I think I was in for about 45 minutes from cutting the tape on the Epson box to mission accomplished, everything works and printing and scanning both tested from my wife's laptop.
Also, I know some of the reviewers felt like the physical size of the 5850 was large. I'm the other way. I expected it to much larger and was impressed by its relatively compact footprint considering it is intended for small business use.
FWIW: I paid full price for this thing. I wasn't given anything in exchange for my review. And I don't even know anybody who works for Epson or any related company that might have an interest in a positive review. Just wanted to share my great experience with this product so far.

My wife runs math tutoring service and she needed a good printer to print the homework for her students. The goal was to get a reliable printer and save money on suplies like inc cartriges which are expensive for most of the printers but not with this model. It has a great solution to save money on inc cartriges which will last you long time. It is easy to use, I followed simple instructions to set up my new printer fast. So far no issues and we are very happy with this printer purchase.

As fast as you'd expect from a fairly top of the line inkjet, no issues with jams or skipping pages when scanning or copying, ethernet connection is flawless, great quality print - good photo quality. I had the model below this for all of two days and found it to be horrible. Jams, skips, WiFi connectivity was profoundly atrocious. (I've seen others here say the 5850 has issues also, so I rearranged some other devices to use ethernet and didn't even try WiFi.) It is a large and heavy item - be sure to look at the specs... and don't get too excited about the fact that it comes with 2 bottles of each color (and black) ink. The first bottle doesn't even fill up the tanks - and the process of setting up the printer uses about 1/3 of the black ink (you'll end up a bit over half full) and 2/3 of the colors. (you'll end up right between the bottom and second from bottom line - and you should refill once it gets to that bottom line)
One issue is that unless I set every print job to "fit" on page it cuts off a touch of the top and bottom. You can save settings within the actual Epson desktop software but much harder from mobile.

As a business-owner who provides IT services to customers of all types, I've begun recommending Epson EcoTanks right out of the gate. Speed, reliability and cost to operate sets this apart from many other models used in small offices.

I bought this printer to replace an HP M281 Laser Printer. I tried buying the off brand toner cartridges for $70 for a set of four they despite good reviews they failed after 3 months. I simply cannot justify spending $400 for geniune HP xl cartridges.
So I was looking for speed, quality and ink affordability. This is based on my first impression, but I have to say I am very impressed. Very Fast, high quality $100 to replace ink every 18-24 months. Furthermore this printer in more flexible and sophisticated than the laser. It is a fairly large printer, but I have found a good spot for it. Actually exceeds my expectations.
Most all of the reviews provided until recently were by beta testers who received the printer for free in exchange for a review. Unfortunately, I was not given this printer for free, so at least you know the review is by someone who paid for the product :).

Finally! A printer that works, correctly, right out of the box, the first time and consistently each time thereafter, and without removing and reinstalling the software, or restarting the unit regularly.
Although we needed a support call, it was a minor issue -- we missed one of the many tapes that kept it safe in transit. And we misunderstood the picture on the move/secure "handle" on the print head. Our problem, not theirs.
The software actually works: print, scan, and fax. (You might know what I am referring to if you have a printer by a certain other company).
And imagine: if one color ink runs out, the printer still prints in black! And just refill that one color reservoir and you're good to go again.
It would be nice to have a single "dashboard" app rather than multiple single-task apps, but the minor convenience is easily overshadowed by the unit's overall efficiency. Thank you, Epson.

I needed a printer that was relatively inexpensive to operate as i was replacing an hp page wide and wanted to have excellent quality and wanted to print from wided and wirefree devices. This printer checked all the boxes. Initially I was concerned thet i would give up some speed because I was improving the quality of characters on the page but really once it started printing. I was unable to tell the difference in speed. My only negative is that this printer was alot more expensive than the pagewide.

First, I purchased this printer, it wasn't given to me for a review.
Now the Pros: Set-up was straight forward, ink tanks filled easily with no mess. Printer and copy speeds are decent. Quality is good.
Cons: The reason I purchased this printer was that it had two paper trays plus an additional paper tray on the back. I print my envelopes with electronic postage so having the option to always have envelopes loaded seemed like a good thing, the only problem with that logic is this printer can't correctly print a #10 envelope. I don't know if my next door neighbor knows anything about computers or printers but even if she knows nothing she would have been more help than the personnel at the Epson support center. After spending multiple hours on the phone with Epson support the printer still won't correctly print a #10 envelope. I could go on for quite a while on the support issues but suffice it to say those were several hours of my life wasted that I won't get back.
In summary I would not recommend this printer to anyone. It is reasonably fast and the print quality is good but there are a lot of printers on the market that fit that description and at a much better price point.

I am on my third ET-5850 printer. The printer is a great value when it works as it should. The first ET-5850 worked for about 8 months, then it died. It was replaced (under warranty). The replacement works but is slow when printing. The cost per page is less than half a cent, and since we are the only company outside of medical facilities with a fax, the ET-5850 fax capabilities are top-notch. When printing color pages, the results are good.

I have owned quite a few multifunction printers over the years. My last also being an Epson super tank bought in 2016. It's still going strong but I wanted to have several of these newer features as well as a faster printer speed. I actually bought this model to use as a home printer. I do enough printing of things to keep it busy. So far I've printed in black & white, and color. I've faxed, I've printed a document and a photo using the smart print app and I am thrilled with the results. I don't have any trouble with the paper jamming or not feeding properly. I have noticed the occasional out of place single dot of black ink (about the size of a sesame seed) along the very edge of a few documents though, on what would be page 2 of the document, even if I'm not printing on the second page. Hoping it clears up. Otherwise, the printer has been perfection for me The ADF worked perfectly when faxing mutile pages. With my former printer, it would often grab more than 1 page at a time, so I'd have to wait for the first page to start feedig into the ADF and then quickly put the next page into the tray, and so on, before the prior page was too far into the ADF. With this machine, I just stacked my documents into the ADF, selected fax, put the number in etc., and it worked beautifully. I would highly recommend this printer!

This is my favorite printer of all time. I have owned a dozen printers and this is the best. I prefer the Epson refillable cartridges. The colors are sharp and vibrant. This printer can make two sided copies and even print booklets. I have printed well over 20,000 pages and this printer is still going strong. You will love this printer.

In the past 3 years I’ve tried two $300 printers, one $100 printer and a $79 printer. They were pretty much all garbage. Now I understand this printer is VERY expensive, but as a business owner I needed something that was practical, fast and provided less expensive ink. I wanted to cry today, my second day using the printer, because I love it so much. It gives me peace of mind. I also purchase the Best Buy warranty so I don’t have to worry about a thing for the next 4 years.
