    Epson EX5280 Review

After installing this projector on a high ceiling I was very disappointed to find out it didn't have LAN capability installed. I have 3 other Epson projectors. All of them except this have built-in network capability. I had to order an Epson LAN network adaptor. The adaptor is on backorder. I would not recommend this model

    Decent presentation projector

I unboxed the EX5280 projector and it came with the unit, power cord, remote w/ batteries, quick start manual, and setup guide. I own a couple of other Epson projectors and expected this unit to perform just as well. I connected the unit to a Surface Book 3 laptop via a USBc dongle and an HDMI cable. Unlike most of the reviews I read, I found the picture quality poor. It was bright even in a well-lit room, but I could see a grid that made the screen look pixelated. I first tried adjusting the focus ring. Then I thought maybe the HDMI cable, so I swapped it out. No change. Then I connected the projector to the laptop via a VGA cable. No noticeable difference. I tried a different dongle…nope. Ok, it’s got to be a setting! I go into display properties and I have to crank the display down to 1024 x 768. I’m then able to read the drop-down menus in PowerPoint, but I still see the grid. It must be something I’m forgetting to set or isn’t switching automatically. I know this is a business projector and not for entertainment, but the words on a presentation need to be readable. I opened a PowerPoint project I did a few years ago and I could view the pictures and large font, but the smaller font and PowerPoint toolbar were still hard to impossible to read. Opening another presentation was a bit better, but the font used to create that presentation was rather large. So, either I need to find a suitable setting or better-quality photos and fonts when creating a PP project. The same issues happened in other Microsoft Office apps. Word was rather difficult to view as was an Excel spreadsheet. Since I haven’t seen any other negative reviews, I must assume I need to figure out the issues. As for the projector itself. It’s a great light projector that would be a wonderful addition to a presenter’s arsenal. It has an HDMI, VGA input as well as USB-A and USB-B ports. You can connect a PC directly to the USB-A port or a storage device to the USB-B port. As for wireless, you need an optional module and one isn’t provided with the package I have. So, my impression of the EX5280 is it’s a decent business projector that works well in bright rooms. By adjusting the display size, one should be able to complete a good presentation to a group or room of people. They may not be able to read the fine print, but if the presentation is bullet points with large font and good quality jpegs, it should be fine. I may not be as impressed with this model as I am with my older Epson projectors, but I’d recommend this projector to anyone needing to view large images or video.

    Great Projector with excellent sound

The Epson - EX5280 3LCD XGA Projector is great for business use. It's the perfect size when needing to use in different business settings. The sound is wonderful, but I would prefer using speakers. The images or presentation slides show great . The images are very crisp. You can also hook up fire sticks or roku sticks by using the HDMI. I like the fact that it does have a carry bag so you could keep all of the items without losing anything. I must say I wasn't expecting the quality of the picture to be so clear but boy I was wrong. This projector packs a big punch. Epson - EX5280 A Projector has 3800 lumens and 16,000 contrast. My personal opinion is I know that this is for business use but it most defiantly be used for personal use as well because of the high contrast .It has that great picture and wonderful sound quality. “This is a review for the Epson Pro EX5280 Projector that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.”

This projector is perfect for presentations - super bright, crisp images, and lightweight. Setup is simple - just point it at the screen or other surface, plug it in, and plug in your data source. As far as that other surface - if you have a wall or a dark surface, like an old-style blackboard, this projector has settings to help you adapt to the surface. The first thing you'll likely notice is how light this projector is. When placed in the included carrying case, it's very simple to haul around. The next thing you're likely to notice is how bright the images are. Both white and color brightness are exceptional, easily showing up in a room, even if the room isn't all that dark. Keystone adjustment is really flexible, with the ability to adjust all four sides of the image to get it straight. The speaker sounds fine - nothing to write home about, but good enough to hear spoken word, if not play music or more subtle audio. The only downside I've found is the noise from the far. While no worse than any other unit, like most business projectors, cooling is rather loud. Overall, an excellent choice in presentation projectors.

Great projector simple plug and play

This is very good small footprint projector. It small enough the you can easily manage to take it with on the go if needed. As far as picture quality for presentations just about any light color surface will do and it’s bright enough together a 80 in projection in a standard lighting room. Add a screen or a high contrast wall and it just increases the sharpness of the projection. I was also able to hook it up to a streaming box and watch both live sports and moi es as well. Would recommend using as screen for that application just for clarity. Setup was easy it’s basically plug and play however with the included remote that are additional thing you can tweak. The only real drawback I experienced is the sound. First it has sound and works well in a small conference room setting (12-15 people; anything larger than that was it starts to push the limit of the small speaker in the system. Also if you using it for live tv or movies you definitely want to use something else for the audio. Overall it’s really a 4.5 star product with the only drawback being the sound a bit however would trade a larger footprint it would take to make that better

The Epson EX3280 is quick and easy to setup and use. It takes about 5 minutes to get it up and running once it is out of the box. It truly just works. As for the brightness, it is great for business presentations, even when you can't turn all of the lights off. Outside is another story. We put it outside to have a movie day, and the brightness of the sun far outshine this projector. We had to wait until the sun was down to have any kind of decent results. That said, remember that this isn't even really intended as a projector for anything but business, but my daughter and I enjoy playing Xbox games on such a big screen.

    Perfectly Spec'd Bright Business Projector

This projector is priced and spec'd perfectly for what it's intended to do. Limited a little by it's 1/2 HD Resolution is clearly aimed at projecting slide decks and not for watching streams. The well made and dependable white shell that seems to be a hallmark of Epson projectors could be a little more portable, but it's not a deal breaker. The speaker is also geared towards playing the sound that goes with the video on your slides, or computer sounds, and NOT a home theatre, but it gets the job done. Nice and bright, large projection area, and adequate number of modern inputs (including a DisplayPort!) puts this projector in a sweet spot. Where this projector really shines (pun intended) is when they leverage their auto key correction technology, no more fumbling with menus or manual adjustments in mobile presentation setups, it will do it automatically. An included case is a nice touch also. Large, clean and bright picture in a nicely portable setup.

“That’s a really nice projector” was the first thing I heard from my team. Mind you, they were talking about the image quality and brightness. I couldn’t agree more. I know that everybody was excited about our first in-person, mask-to-mask meeting with the whole group since March last year but I know they were being sincere. It’s perfectly suitable for our small conference room and no need to have windows shades. My setup is 120 inches on a professional screen but I am pretty confident that it would work just as fine on a smaller or bigger screen, although I don’t recommend to go above 150 inches. Speaking of setup, it couldn’t be easier than just opening and connecting it to power and to a video source. In my case, I connected my laptop using an HDMI cable, keystone didn’t require any adjustment and everything just worked. I really wish it supported 4K. Not really necessary for my presentations as nobody even asked about that but I must admit that I not only like producing photos and videos but also watching them on a 4K screen. My office even have a screen for that and I used this projector but of course at 1024 x 768 pixel resolution, it can’t reproduce the nuances of a 4K screen. However, at 3800 lumens and with 3 LCD chips, it may even give you the illusion that it does much better than the native resolution. Colors are very accurate although I didn’t test it for that since I would never use a projector for some medical stuff I work with, which requires perfect color accuracy. Still, for office and home use, no projector I’ve seen could beat this one. Sound quality is not perfect for anybody, especially for an audiophile like myself but I didn’t need to connect it to external speakers and everybody thought it was decent although the fan at times got in the way, forcing me to set the volume all the way up. This is mostly for business use and I’m fine with it. For home use, it is good, especially because of the quality of the 3 LCD and high brightness but I would go with a 4K one and if you can afford – I don’t think my bank account would be happy about it – go with a short- or ultrashort-throw projector at 4K with laser instead. As for me, I'll just keeping dreaming about the latter and enjoying this excellent Epson EX5280. Not for sound or HD resolution, of course, but for clarity, color accuracy and brightness, this is a five-star projector. I am very satisfied with it. I would like to emphasize that it uses 3 LCD chips. Only laser can beat that. And something else I loved was how lightweight it is. Easy to carry around.

The Epson EX5280 projector is a great for presentations. I use it for showing Word, Excel, and PDF documents. The content I’m sharing from my computer is visible in any room regardless of lighting condition. Text is clear and sharp and colors are vivid. It has several ways of connecting such as HDMI, VGA, and USB. I’m also able to connect my iPad by using a lightning to HDMI adapter. Newer iPads that support USB-C can use a UDB-C to HDMI adapter. Overall, I’m very impressed with this projector and hope to get years of great service from it.

Another great Epson product joins the club

With having owned numerous Epson products now this joins the group with having great quality and simple and easy functionality like the other great Epson products I've had the pleasure of owning.. I recently reviewed the Epson 3280 which I thought was a model below this but they both have pros and cons. One thing that was a pro over the other model was that this has a built in 2 watt speaker for sound. Unlike the 3280 which was 1080p, the native resolution is only 1024 x 768. This is definitely not the overhead projector we had back in my school days haha! 3D technology is added to this model as well. Does have a really good contrast ratio of 16000.1 making the picture quality crisp and clear The color was rich and vibrant and clarity was excellent as well. This model uses True 3-Chip 3LCD technology which displays 100% of the RGB color signal eliminating without any distracting “rainbowing” or “color brightness” issues seen with other projection technologies This model is quoted at being more quiet at only 28 decibels ( on quiet mode, still 37 on normal mode)( Again I didn't measure and was hard to tell a noticeable difference) You have a few different ways of input as seen in the picture below. USB type A and B, HDMI, RCA for video and audio as well as VGA coax for a computer. The HDMI port allows you to easily connect streaming devices, including Fire TV, Apple TV, Roku and Chromecast2 It's a little brighter at 3800 lumens, Weighing only 5.5 lbs. So portability is excellent It's quoted that the lamp life is 6000 hours and 12000 on economy mode. If you want to count that in straight days.. you can run it for 250 days straight or 500 in economy mode to give you an idea even though normal usage would be less than an hour at a time. Overall It's a great projector and would definitely recommend it to others

I have had the chance to make approximately 10 presentations with this Epson projector at work. A lot of the data that I present is numerical and can be tiny due to sheer volume. This projector is very clear and bright, much better than the company-provided projector. I highly recommend this product. I did use it for viewing a show at my home as well, just to test it for a home-type setting and it worked perfectly. I have to say the ease of use is amazing and all of my colleagues enjoyed my presentation since they could clearly see what was being presented to them. I have no cons at all in regards to this projector.
