This was my first projector and I did a lot of research on the technologies and features before hand. I have this set up about 16' feet back from my wall ( no screen) and mounted from the ceiling. It casts about a 180" screen -HUGE, and it is so incredibly clear. If you run it in bright cinema mode the picture is so crisp and bright, although in that mode it does appear that the refresh rate is upped like that of newer tvs because all the movements seem slightly sped up, but you get used to it if you like that picture. In ECO mode the picture is still great. Eco mode is pretty quiet, bright cinema noticeably louder but if you have a sound system it won't bother you. That brings up the sound aspect. The 5 watt speaker on the projector is pretty weak. Turn it up too loud and it gets rattly sounding, so an external speaker set up is a must. The only audio output on this though is an auxiliary output. So you'll have to either run a long aux cord to whatever you have for a receiver, or just run all your media components directly into your receiver via hdmi/rca whatever capability you have. This is a great projector and am very pleased with it. It is definitely Better if you have a room you can Black out or dim quite a bit, but would still work ok if there was some ambient light. But for an upstairs living room, you may want to look at a 1060 which has more brightness.

Easy set up, best one in this price range or better than more expensive ones. Picture is 1080p (60 hz) looks great at 12 feet. I did buy the 600 dollar screen ( Elite, motorized, acoustic pro material, 1.0 gain)

After much research I kept coming back to this model. Not disappointed at all with my decision as our 1st Projector. Running a 100 inch screen in our movie room. The picture quality is amazing even when the shades are completely open in the middle of the day. So far watched NBA Finals, a few movies and the whole family is loving it. Payed $849.00 and a few days later went down to $699.00, too receipt to CS and they refunded me the difference. Can't wait to see what video games or backyard movie night will be like. Thinking of purchasing the same model for my Golf Simulator in the garage. The pictures I took don't do the picture quality justice. Great Job Epson!

I recently bought this projector and a 96" inflatable screen and the picture this projector puts out is simply amazing. I have not completely done a full review on it so i don't know how everything works on it. I bought it, took out of box and set it up and played 2 movies and that was it. Needless to say that the picture was just awesome.

Crisp & clear video no matter if you're in a dark room or the lights on. Easy to setup & very quiet while running. For the price, I can't imagine there is much better.

I use this projector for outdoor movies. The picture is great and i can start watching at dusk before sun is gone due to the brightness of the lumens. I use a seperate speaker system using the speaker out jack on back which is a plus and i do not notice any fan noise when watching a movie. I have a 70" screen and set the projector about 12 ft back from screen. Great product and happy to recommend to anyone.

Smart Tv with your choice of screen size, because it's a projector. Great HD quality, small/lightweight, has an audio out port so you can connect it to your better stereo, and can have 2 screens projected at the same time....sort of (hdmi and screen mirror sources, no other combination). It's great that you can have all the lights on and still see the video clear as day. Wish the split screen had more options, and more choices on the inputs, but 1 laptop, 1 Xbox, and my phone are my sources which are displayed beautifully so it's great for the price!

I've been wanting a projector, to play video games and watch movies with my family, for years. The quality is amazing. For less than the price of a large TV (850 for the projector), I now have a theater room in my home, with about 110 inches (horizontal) of view. It can go even bigger, but I didn't have the room. No lag during movies or games, beautiful HD. I can't recommend this enough.

It looks amazing! After putting this projector up and seeing how great it looks the quality it has, it had family and friends thinking different about projectors as they were all saying that projectors can't be worth buying. Now that they seen mines there all believers again lol. It's well worth the money.

We started looking last September, found this which met all the requirements. Screen mirror, hdmi, high resolution, easy to work with. First installation was in our masonic lodge, worked great, just completed installing a second in the Dining Room. No complaints on the results from any of the viewers.

I was on the market for a home theater projector and spent about 6 months researching which one to get. DLP, 3LCD, LED, Sony, LG, Optimus, BenQ, Epson, etc. It was all a bit daunting but I wanted to take it seriously as I was making a $600+ investment. In the end, I went with this projector. I wanted 3LCD as it's a proven technology and doesn't have the rainbow issue that single-chip DLP projectors do. I also wanted a projector that wouldn't require extensive calibration. There are plenty of websites that offer calibration numbers for projectors but I wanted one that I could get up and running with little to no input from me. I also wanted a projector that would be low cost both in terms of operation and replacement bulbs. Lastly, I wanted a quiet projector that could handle 3D as I have a pretty large Blu-ray 3D library. I wanted all of that without having to spend more than $1000. The Epson 2045 really was the best choice. Not only was it extremely easy to setup but I didn't have to calibrate anything. After reading professional reviews, I discovered that the Epson 2045 works fine using their built-in presets (particularly Cinema Eco mode). I didn't have to calibrate anything, adjust the colors, or anything else. The only thing I did was turn off the motion smoothing for movies and games (I leave it on low if I'm watching a sports game over broadcast TV). Images are life-like and colors are spot on. I have this projecting onto a 1:1.2 screen making a 100" image. I can make out details in dark scenes, action scene come to life, and the 3D is actually impressive. Watching Jurassic World in 3D on the Epson was a blast. I suggest using the standard Cinema Eco mode when watching movies. I never hear the fan kick on (I have it mounted to my ceiling) and it extends the life of the bulb. The projector does offer motion smoothing (like 120Hz and 240Hz LED/LCD HDTVs) but it's best to leave that off when watching movies and TV shows but it is useful, on low, when watching football, basketball, baseball, hockey, and soccer games. The level of detail when watching a Blu-ray movie is rather astounding. I can make out individual fibers in clothing, see wrinkles and blemishes that would otherwise go noticed, and I really feel like I am in a movie theater but I don't have to deal with other people. I also have a Samsung 3D Plasma HDTV and the Epson projector works with the same 3D Samsung glasses as my HDTV so I didn't have to buy new equipment. If you are on a budget, do yourself a favor and really consider this. I went with it over the Optima projectors offered by Best Buy as the Epson is quieter and doesn't produce an image that is as washed out as those (i.e. Blacks with the Epson are almost true black whereas they are more like a dark gray with the Optima projectors in the same price range). BenQ makes some good projectors but their bulbs are often more expensive and some of their models have known exploding bulb issues. Another positive for the Epson, if you have a notebook, tablet, or smartphone featuring Intel WiDi/Miracast technology, you can wireless broadcast anything to this projector. I have tried this out with my Surface Pro 2 and it works great though I tend to just rely on my Apple TV and MacBook Pro for such situations. It doesn't matter what I'm watching, this Epson projector is great. Football games are awesome up on the big screen, movies feel like an actual theater, and TV shows feel more cinematic. The Epson 2045 isn't perfect though. I do wish that it had built-in AirPlay as well as WiDi and Miracast. It is also a little on the bulky and heavy side making it more difficult to transport. Lastly, it doesn't have any vertical image correction. It can straighten and image vertically by 20 degrees but not horizontally. This means that you pretty much have to mount this projector at the same height as the image that you want. It isn't that big of a deal as ceiling mounts make things easier but it can be a pain for people who can't do that. You would have to put it on a shelf if you can't mount it via a ceiling in order for the horizontal keystone (angle) to be correct. Other projectors often allow you to correct both the horizontal and vertical keystones but this one does not. All-in-all, you aren't going to find a better projector for the price. Read up on the professional reviews of it and you'll see that it's top in its class. You can find better projectors but not at this price. It's hard to beat all of the features that are included in the Epson 2045.
