My wife has had multiple surgeries for chronic back issues. With all the medical appointments, bills, doctors notes, etc. Trying to keep all these papers without losing them and organized is a chore. With this scanner I can scan in the paperwork and keep things organized without all the paper trail. This scanner has been a real life saver, exactly what we needed it to be. We can now search for specific documents and days when needed for appointments or insurance requests from our provider. This scanner allows up to 65 pages per minute scanned and also does duplex mode in a single pass. Not having to feed the documents thru two times makes the work of scanning so much easier. I have scanned in hundreds of documents already with another stack waiting. I can't imagine doing this with a flat bed scanner. This is easily the most helpful technical item I have had in years. The build quality is top of the line. Epson has lived up to he quality I expect from them. Well done.

As part of my job I have been traveling for business purposes and have accumulated over three (3) years worth of travel documents, receipts, and bank statements. I needed a way to scan and preserve all of these paper documents electronically for record retention purposes. The Epson Workforce DS-860 is an absolute "workhorse" but with a compact footprint and a surprisingly easy setup. The DS-860, even on auto detect, blazed through everything I threw at it with the resulting scans being of commendable quality/clarity. With double sided scanning, auto detect, network capability, scan speed, scan settings customization, etc. this is a device built for very demanding users. I am very pleased with this scanner. It packs all the functionality, speed, and customization in a relatively small package. Coupled with the easy intuitive setup this is ideal for heavy home office use or small business use.

This scanner is an absolute workhorse. It scans 65 copies in a MINUTE (I tested with 50, and it blew through them). Incredibly useful and efficient. Not a huge footprint, either. I highly recommend - excellent for an office setting.

So out of the box, this scanner weighs an incredible 11 pounds. This thing is no slouch, you might want to consider using it as a bookend as well as a scanner. As soon as I plugged up the scanner, it gave off that electric hum, reminiscent for all epson products. One of the first things I noticed and I have to address is the operating systems compatibility with the scanner, Windows only. This one immediately set up a roadblock and the reason for my average score and unfortunately yes, it does not work with Apple (Mac) software. The upside. Unlike most simple scanners this thing is packed with many many features and running with an amazing 600 dpi on pages ranging from 8 1/2 by 11 to business cards. It's lightning fast and scans will wow you the paper just zips directly and accurately through the fees tray. Another downside. Unfortunately with all those features comes a very large software download that is needed to run it. It's definitely not like printers, you can't run it with just a driver you need the full software suite to make this thing go. Will I purchase again, no. Would I recommend to family, yes, if they have a desktop with enough storage for the software and a dedicated space for the size and weight of the scanner.

I got this for scanning receipts and bring organization to my budgeting and financial needs. Sadly I was disappointed. I first got the scanner and it looked great. This is a workforce scanner meaning it is for office scanning or where you'd be taking paper invoices/receipts and putting them into a digital file for better tracking and faster retrieval of past records. From the other reviews and description on Epson's website I was hoping this would be the solution for me. When I first unboxed the scanner I noticed it didn't have any drivers or software for MAC so I went to Epson's support page to download drivers. Though, they had a support page for Mac, which suggest it could later support OS X; they did not have any drivers available. I emailed their tech at the given email address but never received any reply. After a few days of waiting for a response from Epson, I called their tech line and I was greeted by John. He suggested that I go to the support page, which I already did, so he went through the steps of trying to find drivers for my Mac. After about 5 mins of searching he spoke with his senior technician and they sadly told me it was not compatible with mac. I hope this review helps other Mac users looking to get a good scanner for their office.
