This movie had me at the mere mention that the untouchable Jim Varney had secured another role in this breathtaking series. Varney's performance is nothing short of Oscar-worthy. The mere fact that he did not even get a nod for a nomination is outrageous and truely shows the flaws with the Academy. At any rate, Varney really shows his chops when the Man vs. Man plot line comes into full effect...where in fact it is Ernest vs. Ernest, where he plays both himself and the protagonist of the movie. At many times I truely asked myself, "Does the world really have two Jim Varney's?" I truely hope so. His superior acting skills will truely be missed.

One of The Better 'Ernest' Movies

'Ernest Goes To Jail,' much like all the other films of the series, is incredibly cheesy. Nevertheless, it's still good entertainment that most kids will get a kick out of. Plus, this movie has my personal favorite moment of the series (the scene where Ernest is in the jury box and is chewing on a broken pen). Recommended!

This movie has a few funny parts but isn't the best Ernest movie.
