Many appreciate its performance and the helpful GPS features, while also finding the price reasonable for the features offered. However, some customers reported experiencing false alarms, and a few had issues with the mount's stability. Overall, the positive feedback on key features outweighs the negative comments regarding minor drawbacks.

Has great range and very few false alarms. I did not give it five stars due to the gps not storing the false alarms properly and having to continually re lock them out. It also false alarms a laser alert at times in the middle of nowhere and no police agencies use laser in my area.

I had the two of the 8500 models before this one. Both of them broke! Best Buy let me switch those out for the 9500. I LOVE THIS DETECTOR! It gives plenty of warning on regular radar. In fact there are times when I've said this must be a false reading because it took forever before I eventually saw the officer. The Laser warning works but if they have you on laser they already have you. There isn't much warning with that. It's a steep price but it's way better than the 8500. I wish this detector was about $100 less but it's worth the current price regardless. Happy hunting my friends.

Have had this detector now for over a year and wanted to put it through the paces before the review. Real good detection for police speed traps. Memory for cameras needs to be updated and the system does not realize if you are on a freeway and cross over a street with a camera, it just knows the coordinates loosely. So if you are buying it for this feature I would look at a different model. If you want solid real police speed trap warnings this will do it. I will say regardless of detector you choose the new cars with lane departure and obstruction warnings will set any radar detector off. This learns some of them but it takes time so it can be a little annoying but the good news is these systems use "K" band and unless you meet Barney Fife no police cars are using just "K" band anymore. Police cars are using "KA" or Laser so if that pops up slow down.

Upgraded from a few years old passport; this one has great range and notifications. Only thing I don't like so much is the red light camera notifications, but I bet there is a setting to disable it. Other than that little thing, this has already saved me twice; once from over a hill and the other was oncoming interstate that seemed like minutes before I saw the source. Great buy!

My family was constantly on the road for the past year for travel and business. Have tried some other more affordable models and eventually came down to this one for its unbeatable performance. Gives out advanced alert sufficient enough to slow down speed before falling under laser guns' radius with no false alarms. But reliability across units (of the same model) is questionable. For some reason I've had three and one of them constantly either gave me false alarms or failed to pick up signals from laser guns. Returned that one. Overall a very decent detector and for the price, not bad as a long-term investment for people always on the go or residing in an area with heavy police presence.

This device saved me at least 3 tickets the first road trip. Found things (speed traps) we never would have seen without the warning. Sometimes the early reads were so ahead we weren't sure it was working. But it was spot on. Once we learned how to interpret the warning we knew we had time to react. Great product

Although a,little pricey it is worth it. This radar detector has a built-in GPS and once you've passed a false positive 3 times it stores it and doesn't alert there again. Also, this radar detector is updatable. I was a little put off by the price but I got Best Buy to match Amazon and I got $60 back! I'm glad I made this purchase afterall!

I have picked up signals miles away. I picked up one CHP too late - was heavy traffic around so was not speeding anyway but what if. Have had only 2 occasions where an officer was parked and waiting and NO signal. There may be new radar bands or possibly they were using POP or not checking though that is not likely considering how / where they were hiding. POP setting if "off" from factory default - don't know why. No other issues - mount works, loud warnings, easy to read, great features. I'm still learning and testing to see how "safe" it makes me. A great product overall.

This is my second Escort 9500ix detector. The first one still works, but I thought it was time to purchase another one - I had the first one for over 5 trouble free years. If you are wanting to have an outstanding radar detector, I can without hesitation, recommend this one.

I bought my 9500ix last year. It was my second one. The first one I bought second hand and someone else offered me more than I paid so I sold it. Went back to using my Cobra and really hated the fact that it went off all the time. So I purchased a 9500ix and it has been a ticket saver. I drive about 3700 miles a month and I can just go knowing my Escort 9500ix has my back! Only con is that newer Acura MDX's with Blind Spot Monitoring cause me K Band alerts until I pass them.

Best Radar Detector for Around Town

My decision was between this and the escort redline. I picked this one over the redline because I do more city driving than highway driving. The redline is better suited for the highway. This radar detector has saved me many of times. I cannot recommend it enough for anyone that either has a lead foot like myself or is an impatient driver. This isn't 100% effective though without a responsible driver who is aware of their surroundings at all times and knows when and when not to speed. Also, it is nice to know what stop lights are red light cameras.

Escort Passport 9500ix Radar Detector Multi 0109500-3 SKU: 9009048 High priced but the best detector I've owned. Has saved me enough to pay for itself in 2 months. Has provided ample warning. Muting feature friendly on the ears. I don't use the memory function for false alarms because there are not many on my daily route. I read law enforcement personnel reviews, sound like they hate these. I'm still not convinced about the quality of the lazer detection. Time will tell.

i drive nearly every day, and mostly long distance. This unit is very accurate. I have had an Escort 8500 in the past (Gave it to my nephew 3 years ago , and he is still using it ) I knew the 9500ix would be a good unit, and no doubt it's served its purpose so far. Several options on this model. cool radar!

I love this radar and its GPS memory system. Also it seems to have a longer range in detecting cops ahead of tiem also have the silencing feature on the actually power adapter really is convenient instead of reaching over to your windshield to mute your radar when it goes off

Purchased this after doing extensive research online. Looked @ many reviews and websites. Beltronics & Escort are the same company. Both have great reputations. Unless you need the few Xtra bells & whistles a Valentine 1 or Passport 360 provide, the 9500 IX offers an excellent value & reliability for a fraction of the price. Remember, you do get what you pay for, so I wouldn't recommend sub 250.00 detectors. (My experience was that they are junk & money flushed!) However, I've found this unit to be very accurate so far. And one ticket will cost you all of the detector cost (or more)!

After reading a number of reviews on radar detectors, I settled on this one. It seemed to have a nice feature set at it's price point. I found it on sale at Best Buy and bought it right away. So far it has performed as expected. I would recommend this particular model to someone looking for a very nice radar detector.
