I had it 40 days, came out one morning and the case had split open exposing the electronics and I could not push any of the buttons. I tried to exchange it at best buy but was told it was past the 30 days and had to send back to escort. Escort said 4-6 weeks to get returned to me.

We are sorry to hear about the issue with your Passport Max2 . Maybe there was some confusion about how long it would take us to service it. It should only take us 3-4 business days to repair it and send it back to you. Please contact our service department to set up the service order at 1-800-543-1608.

This is a VERY expensive Radar Detector, so it should be perfect, right? Not the case....
This unit FELL APART while driving. Escort is going to fix, but I will be without my radar detector for 5 days.
Additionally, this unit fails on a regular basis. It will get STUCK on a detection (Ka, K, Laser) bands and needs a reset to fix.
Save yourself some trouble and buy a less expensive version. The
App isn't that great either...

My new vehicle came with built in navigation so the Escort iQ GPS and detector combo will move to another vehicle. The Escort MAX2 was purchased for this new vehicle. Having previously also owned the 9500iX I know the value of having a built in GPS in the detector to lock out false alerts that one would drive by each day. The MAX2 is great in detection and has the ability to change the color of the HD display to match your vehicles gauge and dash scheme.
It comes with bluetooth and by downloading the escort App (which is free) you have Escort Live running which your phone app will load the actual road or highway speed limit onto the detector screen where you can set it to alert you if you exceed the limit by say 5 MPH. In addition, the phone app running in unison will display current live radar sightings on your route, known speed-traps and such.
The MAX2 reviews on pro sites shows that it has better sensitivity and reaction than most others with only the Redline version having a slightly higher performance rating.
If you are contemplating a radar detector purchase, I would first recommend the MAX2 and also using the free Apple or Android Live Escort APP alongside it. The 9500iX is capable but with a relatively small price difference, the MAX2 is a better value.
Best Buy matched the pricing I was able to get from a online competitor which made the value that much more and allowed me to purchase locally.

I like the display and features it gives in tandem with the online notifications when connected with your smartphone via Bluetooth. It does pretty much what advertisements on box and display. I like it but, a bit pricey.

This detector saved me a ticket straight out of the box on my way home from the local Best Buy . Very easy to use and setup. Live App is a nice feature. Does what it says. You get what you pay for! This is the same as the original Max, however the Max2 has it's Bluetooth integrated into the detector. No need for the Apple or Android Live cable anymore. The hard wired smart cord also will work with this detector, unlike what the associate advised at the store

I have been using Cobra radar detectors for years now because I travel up and down the coast a lot. My latest Cobra started to act funny so I bought a Escort radar detector instead. The features are too many to list, but paying the extra money for this detector was way worth it in my opinion. It can suppress the alert from radar signs so in the future, you're not annoyed with them. It picks up signals from what I would estimate to be a mile away. Would definitely recommend!

This unit delivers. A few weeks ago my new MAX2 started chirping a Ka band radar signal while I was driving a hilly, windy country road. Two miles later I pass a county sheriff sittling in a parking lot. Talk about warning time. And with all that sensitivity I no longer get warnings because some new Audi is in front of me with motion sensors in his bumper. I am also enjoying the Escort Live warnings when I'm on the highway. I need to buy a Escort MAX2 for all my vehicles.

I have been an Escort owner for almost 20 years. When my 8500 finally died after many miles of ticket free driving I replaced it with a Passport X70 early this year. The X70 made one trip with me before being returned shortly after I returned home. Thankfully Best Buys return policy made the return of that unit a hassle free experience. The X70 had very good range but was constantly false alerting. After lengthy research I purchased my Max2 and immediately put it to use on a spring break trip with my family. What a revelation! My faith in Escort was restored in a very short amount of time. False alerts are non-existant and the Max2 autolearn function performs as advertised! I have only had a few complaints about the unit and they involve the Bluetooth function between my phone and the detector. When using the Escort Live app on my phone the speed limit display more often than not just shows the Bluetooth symbol instead of the posted speed limit. Hopefully the customer service team at Escort will get around to answering my email I sent them a few weeks ago about the issue will get answered soon. With the exception of that "glitch" the Escort Live app is truly revolutionary in the way it alerts you to police presence in your area. The Defender database of red light and speed enforcing cameras also seems for work well. The only complaint is that it alerts to cameras mounted on cross streets when you are traveling down the interstate. A small complaint considering the protection the Max2 provides. All things considered, this is an exceptional detector that is far superior to any others I have owned.

I have had many radar detectors but nothing quite like this. It has built in GPS and it stores false alerts so they never show up again. It finds police radar from 1/2 to a mile away. I paid much more than most would for this item but it's very well worth it. I'm very happy with my purchase.

First of all, this detector works flawlessly in the city. It learns non cop radar so after about a week, it doesn't annoy you - at all.
The range on it is excellent. I was able to pick up state troopers on the highway a good 3/4 before seeing them. Works great in the city, easily picking up traffic enforcement officers.
The downside:
The mount is utterly trash. It wobbles so much that it literally gets loose from the magnet and wobbles like no other. When I first got it, no issue, no wobble. This happened over time.
I would have not returned it if it didn't wobble so much.

I had bought the Escort Passport Max before (also at best buy) ;-)
I loved it, but when the max 2 came out, ummmmmm........ I really wanted the Max 2. So far so good. It is 1 of the BEST radar detectors out there.
I have noticed an issue though, there is some type of newer speed gun, rarely encountered though, which is NOT being detected by this detector :-(
That's the ONLY reason why I give it 4stars instead of 5.

Truly a great performer. The range is amazing on this unit. Also with the GPS feature it learns and keep quite in spots that are false alerts. Well worth the investment if you have a heavy foot or have a very fast car.

Got this a few months ago to replace an older Solo that was given to me. My job isn't local so I'm required to drive about 75 miles daily most of the commute is highway. All I can really compare it it to is the older Escort Solo. So I'll use that to compare it, the distance it picks up the K and Ka bands is much farther. I've picked up radar from well over a mile away and it's atleast double the distance I was getting from the Solo. I'm pleased with it so far and how well it's worked.

Since using the detector over the last couple months, I've rarely have instances where I was surprised to see a cop that wasn't already reported in the Live system. Otherwise, the detection range of those not already noted in the system is great- better than other detectors I've used in the past so nothing really catches me off guard and that's the idea. I don't speed a ton but having the awareness that this provides gives me a great deal of peace of mind. Sure it's pricey but it's truly top of the line.

I have been using radar detectors on and off for over 30 years. Over 25 years ago i made the move to Escort and have not considered another brand since. The Max2 did not disappoint. Great alert response time and the bluetooth lets me crank the music with no fear of missing the audible alarm tones. the ap has some bugs but overall very useful.
