I have used it camping as well since it has it's own built in battery. Have not used the solar power feature yet. I am considering buying a second one to keep at work since it has the AM/FM radio and an input feature as well.

Great radio

Takes care of many needs when power is out!

Great Survival Kit

However, this doesn't let you have weather signals on while listening to other things. So if you want weather updates you need to stop everything else and wait... if there is a weather issue to begin with.
