Purchased to replace a Midland unit that died after many years. When I first turned on this unit I thought the way the characters were made up on the LCD was strange. After spending an hour programming, I realized two of the LCD cells were missing causing the letters and numbers to appear incorrect.
The manual was more like a small pamphlet which was of little help in programming. I still don't know what a couple of the buttons are for and not sure if the warning was on. I wanted to hear a sample of the alarm so we would be ready for it, but there was no way to sample it. I read online that it was VERY loud.
I am returning the unit.

Pass this product by and get something better. To start with, the setup instructions were very sparse and poor. I finally figured out how to set up my county, but then I couldn't figure out if the alert was set or not. There's an alert on/off button on front that didn't seem to do anything. We had tornado watches in effect, but it never did alert. Finally it went off, for a flash flood alert! At 90 db it rocked me out of my chair. Way too loud, volume not controllable. The light that indicates the type of alert never did come on.
It could be a defective unit, but it is the cheapest weather radio I've seen, so I'm not about to rely on this device for my safety. I'm taking it back and will shop around for something better.
