This version of Evangelion, in my opinion, is not the best version. That is not to say it's bad, but it skips along at a rapid pace leaving lots of the story untold. "Abridged" is a good word for it, but that comes with the bonus of new visuals and new soundtracks...which are both stunning to say the least. There are little things that change and big things that change...some were good, some kinda made me sad. There were script changes that seemed to, in very subtle ways, change the characters themselves rather than expose more of the very vague and convoluted story Evangelion is famous for. When I heard this was coming out, it was billed as being the same story but seen through a much larger lens so to speak, revealing new details and dispelling the hundreds of theories people have had about what exactly is going on here. Watching the 90 minutes of this feature made me feel like either I didn't know the original story very well at all (which isn't very likely, I've purchased this series 3 times and watched it in it's entirety probably twice that amount) or that the changes they made were an effort to take something that was almost impossible to understand and make it understandable. Either way, it was well worth the money I paid for it, and of course I will be buying the others in this series. Now if only it came on BLU-Ray...

I now own both the subbed and dubbed version on this Rebuild of Evangelion. I was fortunate enough to be able to see the dubbed version twice in the theaters and enjoyed being immersed into such a dynamic world that is Neon Genesis Evangelion. The animation has been updated and the sound effects are without a doubt the best i have ever heard in an anime. I went with a group both times to see evangelion 1.0 in the theaters and both time had friends whom had never seen NGE in their lives. All in attendance enjoyed the film immensely and are planning to buy it today. Its a great film for any collection especially if your an Evangelion fan.
NERV FTW!!!!
