A new interpretation of a classic

I am a huge fan of the original movie and television series. I did not see the theatrical release of the 2013 film. I have only watched the unrated version. Without being able to differentiate between the theatrical and unrated versions, I can say that this film was delightfully gory, and has differences from Bruce Campbell's franchise. The original script wasn't simply recycled for a new generation. Even though I do not typically advocate remakes, this is very good film, and would like to see a sequel in the future.

Ultimate Cabin in the Woods Movie

This movie is a classic and a must-have for horror fans. I feel that this is the original cabin in the woods film that started it all. Yes, the movie is a bit outrageous and out-there at times, but that is what gives it its charm. If you are looking to be terrified, this is not your movie. If you are looking for a sound plot and compelling storyline, this is not your movie. If you are a fan of the genre and looking for an entertaining movie, then make sure you see this.

am a total fan boy of the original Evil Dead trilogy that I was glad to see they went a different direction. I knew that it had to be good because both Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell were producers on the film. They did none of the campy fun from the original and went full blown horror. The young actors all did a great job and it leaves a resonating creepiness with you. When I saw this in the theatre there was a young woman behind us crying.

When i first heard they were doing a remake of the original I asked, WHY?! But oh boy when I decided to see it when it came out it exceeded my expectations. The movie obviously made character changes which didn't bother me all but the original story is left pretty much intact. Eventhough this was a bit more serious in tone than the original it still held to the basic story. So in my opinion this was once of my favorite movies last year. I'm hoping for a sequel.

Not going for laughs or campy horror this time.

They did a pretty good job with this remake. They stayed true, to the core concept of the original. They steered clear of laughs and the campiness of the original. Evil Dead is straight horror. Not sure how I feel about the change to, the character, Ash. It's a good remake of a classic. I always view these remakes as a different film altogether. You can't compare the classic to the remake. Evil Dead 2013 is worth at least watching.

Ok in all seriousness I went into this movie with a little bit of doubt on how it was going to be since I was such a huge fan of the original. I did feel a little better about it considering some of the original people who made the original what it was came back to do this remake. SO in the end the original for me is still better but for the newer generation this is a good horror movie which is still enjoyable for us who loved the original.

Loved the original, absolutely lived this retelling even more! I know, all you die hard fans may disagree with me, but it was never meant to be an exact replica, hence the lack of the iconic character Ash (whose legendary they never had any intention of messing with). This movie is full, and I mean FULL of gore and terror! A must-own for any horror fan! Extras were generic behind the scenes interviews and rid bits on the creation and philosophy of the film. So stop and reading and buy this movie!

This movie has a generic plot, but it is so well done, it manages to stand out and the result is a very scary movie. The relationship between the two main characters' make the viewer actually care for what happens to them. There is only one character I don't really care for and that because its all "their" fault!!!! But "they" get wants coming to them..... DON'T READ THAT BOOK!!!!!!!

I love the original, don't get me wrong. Nothing was bad about it but it was great to see it remade with proper special effects. They focused more on the effects and less on the plot/storyline but just watch the original if you want more of the story. The original is more for the humorous side of horror while the remake tried to make it for more of a horror flick with the effects.

    Not a Remake, it's a Sequel.

Forgive me, but I really enjoyed this Evil Dead. Most people confused this movie as a remake of the original Evil Dead, but what I got from it was that it was a sequel of the movie. So don't expect to compare this one to the original story line all that much. They don't hold back on the blood or the gore, in fact, if you can't handle gore, don't watch this movie.

    A Decent Remake

This remake of EVIL DEAD is a decent flick in it's own right. It uses a good amount of elements from the original EVIL DEAD but also adds a lot of it's own. Parts of the story come straight from the original (the cabin in the woods, the book of the dead, etc) , but other parts, such as everyone going to the cabin to help one girl kick her drug addiction, are new and welcome. The pacing starts off a little slow, but when the flick finally kicks in, about half way through, the result is a frenzied mix of blood and mayhem sure to satisfy the gorehound in you. Although not as creepy as the original, this remake does manage to contain a few scenes of it's own creepiness along with a great bunch of make-up and gore effects. The final 20 minutes of the movie are drenched in much welcomed blood and give the flick a great visual climax. Extras include featurettes on the making of this movie with interviews from the director as well as cast and crew. Overall I would recommend this Blu Ray to anyone looking for a bloody good time.

I'm not sure if I am to review the quality of the DVD or review the quality of the movie. The DVD seems solid enough to watch over and over without getting damaged. The DVD box holds the DVD secure. I remember the original movie scared the heck out of me. This one was pretty intense too. A lot of blood and guts. If you are squeamish I would pass this one by.

Here is the thing with this movie, alot of people believed it was a reboot or prequel. However this movie was a mix of the beginnings of the story with the doctor who found the book and yet still a sequel to the evil dead series. Story line is basically the same when a person reads the book and summons the demons. This time the demons are trying to summon a darker demon to take over the world.

This movie is a good remake of a classic. I don't know why it was remade but I do like it. IF you are into horror movies you have to see the original and I would definitely recomend seeing this movie as well. The Video is excellent all the way around as it should be. The sound I cannot rate as I have a 2 speaker set up but the sound I did hear was good.

Great film despite what diehard fans of the original say. I prefer this take over the originals and their silly nature. This film is much more serious and has a darker mood. If you're looking for something more like the original series, then I suggest you check out the Ash vs Evil Dead tv series, its comedic and silly and is actually quite interesting.

I'm a huge fan the star of the original Evil Dead's Bruce Campbell and what he brought to that series especially Army of Darkness but I firmly believe this is the better Evil Dead. It's actually scary with only a smidge of humor. Going back to the original to Evil Dead movies I find more hokey then comedically scary. To each his own. Recommended!

The EVIL DEAD 2103 was an amazing horror ride down the old dirt roads of the woods we all knew and loved growing up, ending at that famous wooden cabin filled with deadites. Here is FINALLY the 2028 UNRATED EXTENDED CUT of that film and it is AMAZING!!!!!! Had to buy 2. Thats how AWESOME this is. You will NOT be let down.

If you liked the original Evil Dead and this is what you were looking for you came to the wrong place, but it is an awesome horror film. I yearned for Ash, but alas he was no where to be found, but this is not a funny type horror like the original turned out to be. This movie is not for the meek or weak of heart, it will keep you on the edge of your seat, then scare you right out of it.

This movie is definately not for the faint of heart. I consider this to be like a Saw style movie but with less of an underlying story to it. It has very gory scenes and a very dark plot line that leaves the viewer stunned at the end. Has some very memorable parts in it that will stick with you for a long time after. If gore is not your thing this is certainly not a movie for you!
