Good movie especially if you love movies from the 1980's!

One of my favorite childhood movies, when I seen it in Blu-ray I had to get it

This is a fun little story about a group of kids who are inspired by alien transmissions to build a spaceship from old junk parts. It features some of the early performances by Ethan Hawke and River Phoenix, back when they were young and enthusiastic performers. I'm actually totally green with envy at River Phoenix's role; it's the sort I always imagined playing as a kid. The climax is very similar to a classic Star Trek episode called 'The Squire of Gothos', and the effects and showmanship of this story is very cool. A great piece of entertainment.

'Explorers' is a favorite film of my childhood. And thanks to this excellent Shout Factory release, I get to feel like a kid again! The movie has never looked better and the special features finally give the filmmakers the praise they deserve for creating this underappreciated gem. Joe Dante's direction is perfect, Ethan Hawke, River Phoenix and Jason Presson performances are wonderful - Dick Miller's brief time on screen may very well be a career best - and Jerry Goldsmith's score is brilliant as it brings this sci-fi story to life. This is a movie that should not be missed. Kids of all ages will love it!

OMG so happy this got a Blu-ray release. I saw this movie on tv as a kid and loved it so much I had it on tapped VHS from the tv broadcast for years. The Blu-ray transfer is such a treat and shout factory did a great job. I love the slip cover if you are fortunate to get one. The transfer for picture and sound is very good for something this old. The extras have a great interviews as well. If you are a fan of the movie this is the best release to date and should already have it in your collection!

One of the great family sci-fi gems of the 1980's with an all-star cast. At the time it was released it didn't get as much appreciation as it deserved , but after it was released on video and pay TV it grew a huge cult following and now with this great Blu-Ray high definition format we all can enjoy i now better than ever. If you are a fan of E.T. (1982) , Goonies (1985) , Gremlins (1984) , Harry And The Henderson's (1989) and The Monster Squad (1986) than this great classic is a not only a must watch but a must own as well , and with great makeup effects done buy makeup artist Rob Bottin who did great on films like The Thing (1982) , RoboCop (1987) and The Howling (1981) we get great classic different aliens. The director is Gremlins director Joe Dante and if you are a fan of his great movies it is a must have.

This is a classic fun from my childhood and is worth a watch if you have not seen it. This is definitely a upgrade from the VHS and DVD version with som extra features. Shout Factory is a great boutique company that obtains licensing to re-issue movies with improved transfer and quality.

Shout! Factory's Collector's Edition of Director Joe Dante's 'Explorers' ('85) is fantastic! While the transfer may not be the cleanest it is still the best this wonderful film has ever looked. Colors and shadows are rich and detail is in abundance. While the film itself may not be what Dante set out to make it's still a great movie of youthful idealism and adventure with an absolutely stellar film score by Jerry Goldsmith.

An excellent presentation of a childhood favorite, loaded with extra features. The deleted scenes were especially interesting, showcasing more adolescent and family drama and not adding much to the science fiction plot. This set includes the home video version and the theatrical version, the print of which is less pristine than the former showing the occasional scratch but still an excellent transfer.

A slightly lesser known sci-fi movie, but one that everyone should own. A group of kids are given the plans to create a nearly indestructible bubble that defies gravity and logic and soon build their own spaceship to travel to space to find out who has been sending them the messages. Think "This Island Earth", but with a better story and no aliens wearing trousers.

Love this movie i was so happy to find it with slipcover at best buy its an unrated 80s sci-fi classic! If you ever wonder qere stanger things got its vibes from this is another one of the 80s movies that did it.. and a very yiung Ethan hawk as well and young river Phoenix. Year before he did stand by me..

I've loved this movie since I first saw it in the theater in 1985, and was thrilled to know that it was getting a blu-ray release. Of course, I love it, and it looks and sounds fantastic!

Great movie from 1985. Inhad the VHS original version and when i saw the bluray had to get it. Watched with my 14 year old granddaughter who thought the special effects were "lame" but after getting interested in the story enjoyed the movie.

Not only am I happy that the included both versions of the film, but I love the case! Get this collectors, the Blu Ray Case Cover is REVERSIBLE!! If you’re a fan of this film, it’s a must have. Buy immediately!!

This is just simply an amazing and fun movie. I watched this as a small kid and enjoyed it back then and enjoyed it now. Finally on Blu-ray. Now if they can get "Electric Dreams" on Blu-ray, I'd be very content.

One of the best movie of the 1980's. It makes me feel like a kid again when I watch this film. The music also is one of the best sound track of the 1980's. This is a good family movie.

There are some fun special features and it helps lessen the frustration that the image on the disc is a little squeezed. If you like the film, you should buy it, It’s not my favorite Joe Dante film but this is the best it’s likely to ever look.

Joe Dante's underrated 80s adventure, Explorers makes a brilliant first time on Blu-ray release truly jam-packed with over 30 minutes of deleted scenes!

Explorers is a nostalgic 80's movie. It is nice to see Best Buy distributing Shout Factory movies and offering them on store shelves rather than solely online. Shout Factory & Scream Factory titles reflecting the "Collector's Edition" title generally offer a slipcover with the movie during their first printings.

One of my favorite movies of all time so fun to watch although the transfers not the greatest but I guess it's better than it was in the old days on VHS
