Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant follow-up the amazingly funny, cringe-worthy, and dramatic "The Office" (BBC) with this HBO service that's witty, funny, sad, and of course cringe-worthy, packed with A-list Hollywood stars. Series breezes along with excellent dialogue and heart -- a must-watch.

Prices fluctuate and deals come and go so I won't comment on the price, just the content. Of course you get all 12 regular episodes (30 minutes each) and the 90 minute finale and they're spread over 5 DVDs. Perhaps they could have saved some space and saved a couple of DVDs but it's a minor quibble consider it only takes up an extra 1/2" of shelf space. It's a cliche, but if you like the UK Office, you'll like this. I think of it as the true life story of Ricky Gervais in a parallel universe where The Office had been a disaster. It comes with behind the scenes, bloopers etc - nothing you'd probably want to watch over and over but entertaining enough - the real magic is in the episodes themselves. The only flaws (IMO) are that Maggie is too dopey sometimes and Darren is a little too over the top to be believable but he's incredibly funny. Also, if you're not familiar with the characters from the soap "EastEnders" some of the references will be missed. Definitely in my top 5 TV shows of all time

Extras: The Complete Series stars Ricky Gervais as "Andy Millman", a man who quits his job to chase his dream of being an actor. This hilarious comedy series delivers on the laughs & has an abundance of A-list celebrity appearances throughout. Cased in a clapperboard box, it's ready to gift with ribbon and bow to any fan of this tv series.

Good commentary on both the true nature of fame and the tough life of an "extra" bit player. Hilarious cameo by Daniel Radcliffe and wonderful spoof of sitcoms regarding series in which Gervais' character makes it big.

Picked this up when it was on sale, as I am a big fan of Ricky Gervais. I was able to watch disc 1 without any issue. Disc 2 doesn't appear to work. Could be my player. Otherwise great value at the price.

    An Exemplary Brit Comedy

Everyone who's seen the original The Office from BBC always raves about it; but honestly the co-creators, Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, outdid themselves on their next show, Extras. The series follows Andy Millman, an extra (background artist) trying to score an acting role on a film. Each episode contains a cameo from at least one celebrity that plays a degrading caricature of themselves, often racist, egotistical or just generally obscene. The second season features Andy working on his own sitcom, which, although high in ratings, is derided by critics and his peers. Every episode contains enough humor to not disappoint the viewer. If you are a fan of the British version of The Office, or even a fan of the American version, this is a must buy.

This is a must have if you are a Ricky Gervais fan. My only complaint is that the series ended too soon. He has gotten guest stars to do some outrageous things on this show. Great cast - great guests - great show. Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant are a great team. Ricky is a comic genius - just love everything he's done.

I purchased this set quite some time ago. I was sad to realize 1/2 way through the 2nd disk of the 2nd season that it has the same episodes on it as the 1st. It is labeled correctly but has the incorrect content on it. Not sure how to get this fixed/corrected since I have already opened the item and bought it awhile ago. : (
