    Codemasters gets it right again.

I've been a fan of Codemasters racing games since the days of TOCA 2 and 3. They've done a good job with their next-gen offerings, but have not put out a pure racing sim with real cars on all real racing circuits until F1 2010. This game is a great sim combined with a story line-style career mode where even your answers to post-race interviews determines your ability to get contracts with teams in the future. I find it addicting to play, going back over and over to try a new track and bump my career stats up another level with a hope at signing with Ferrari for next season. The game AI is very customizable to create the challenge you'd like, whether it be handing beat downs to the competition to breeze through a career, or shooting for a real-life pro challenge where you might get knocked off of pole by a last lap run by the Red Bull cars. I highly recommend this game for people looking for a true racing sim. Only shortcomings I have for the game is that the drivers-eye view has limited peripheral vision which is important for tight turns and requires me to play with the roll-hoop cam mode, as well as tire pressure is not changeable and hot pressure and temps is not readable. But choosing your own pit strategy and tire strategy is a feature I've never seen in any other racing game, so my lack of getting to adjust tire pressure and read hot temps is made up in other cool features.

Has the names and tracks, but not realism

I purchased this game on the name alone. Being a huge fan of F1 and a fan of racing sims since the PC titles brought by EA Sports, I expected a lot more from a game designed for the next gen consoles. What I got was a bit disappointing to say the least. Driving realism is sadly lacking. I like to drive with all the assists turned off to get a real feel for the car, and while I could smoke the tires from a standing stop, I never oversteered- even at full throttle- unless I got in the grass. Try that in a real F1 car. I never locked the brakes either, even from top speed. Shifting with the XBOX wheel had to be done WAY early to avoid over revving. Another poster commented about the vision. I would agree. You can't see far enough into the corners unless you go to roll hoop view at least. The graphics were decent, but nothing a PS2 or original XBOX couldn't deliver. For those used to Forza3 or GT5, you will be greatly disappointed. Wait for another title that delivers. Or at least try before you buy. It does have a great off track driver management and development program. Probably the most involved I've seen. But for me, the driving is the most important part.

I bought Grid when I found out Codemasters was going to be publishing F1 2010. After playing Grid, I was concerned, but it turns out I had nothing to worry about. Visuals and game play are excellent. I found the Grid scenery always seemed to have a red tone to it - thats not an issue with F1. I also found Grid difficult to drive, and F1 2010 is better - seems more realistic. The Time Trial feature is excellent. Its a great way to tryout car set-ups and learn the tracks. Being able to download other players best laps from XBox live and use their driving line to learn a better way around the track is a really cool feature. The only frustrating part about Time Trial is its VERY strict about staying completely on track to record a time, and if you go off track too deep into a lap, it will invalidate your time for the NEXT lap. But, this forces you to be a better driver.
