Not as good as others but not bad

This is def. a different album for the band. You could tell by the first track by how less rock it is than previous openers. The song has a familiar sound but is more poppy than other openers. The second song which is pretty different for the band in general was the first single. It is a good song despite it being new territory for fans of the band. It seems to be very spacy. When We Come Alive might be the most anthemic on the whole cd which is I think the current single. Say It Like You Mean it was one of my favorites when first liostening to it surpriningly. I say that because this is almost rap as it is spoken word like what they did with "Selling The News". Despite that though, there is still some good rock to it. Slipping Away is a notable track as it is probably the most negative song on the album in terms of lyrics. Let it Out is another favorite as it is one of their most traditional songs. Just a straight up good rock song. Like I said before it is def. different. Thir past three albums were more rock and less poppyas this one. TYyhough it does not mean its a bad album. It is still good and their lyrics are still familiar and positive for the most part.

I have listened to Switchfoot since high school and after picking up their first album I have gotten every album since upon release. I did get to see them in concert a few years back and I will never forget that. So in other words I have some high standards for a band I consider to be an all time personal favorite. This new album was great, but I still like Oh, Gravity! more. That is not to say that this is a bad album in any way. The music was great, the lyrics were great, and I have already listened to the album all the way through on a few occasions. Soon I will be singing every line like I do with all the rest of their work. They have not lost their touch.

Switchfoot is a tremendous band that has put out some of the all time best rock albums . This album is a solid effort with some great songs. If you are a longtime fan you may be a little let down. In an effort to experiment, some of their songs come out a bit more electronic than you are used to. The lyrics are as strong as ever. As a long time fan it took me a few listens to train my ears for the new sound. All in all it's worth the money and better than almost everything else out there.

I remember this band back when The Beautiful Letdown (also bought when I picked up Fading West) was released, but over the years had forgotten about them until they were recently brought up in a conversation, so without knowing much about this album, I bought it and I don't regret that decision. Great music with even better lyrics. If I had to pick two of my favorite tracks, it would have to be track #1 (Love Alone is Worth the Fight) and track #9 (All or Nothing at All). Check it out.

I've been a huge Switchfoot fan for 10+ years. Fading West does not disappoint. I heard they were making a movie and I was very excited about it, but I held off on watching the movie because I was sure they CD would have a combo-deluxe whatever that included both. That didn't happen, but the CD is still amazing. I picked up the DVD on iTunes the next day and I haven't stopped smiling.

Switchfoot is a band that defies convention, fits no mold, and is always true to who they are, and that has never been more apparent than on Fading West. There is nothing else out there quite like it, and that's what makes it great.

I am a big Switchfoot fan and was happy to learn of the release of the new recording. Seems like they went in a new direction. Not as great as they're first but still good. Looking forward to seeing them in concert.

This cd wasn't what i expected from Switchfoot. It was made along with the movie they made so im sure they created this album strictly for that reason. Its not the old SWITCHFOOT sound, but it still has its good!

Switchfoot has done it again! This CD packs great lyrics mixed with great music. There is a great balance between slower songs and songs you want to get up and dance to. Thank you Switchfoot to continuing to do what you love and share it with your listeners!

I have been a fan for years, and they exceeded my expectations with this VD. The lyrical quality, is as expected from Jon Foreman, SUPERB. The sounds and styles they experimented with are fresh, original, and has a great "modern vintage" vibe to it.

Great cd. Very expressive musically! Really like this band. There are a lot of different songs on this album. It's not all the same tunes that you hear over and over again.

Including the singles Who We Are, Love Alone is Worth the Fight and BA55, the entire album gives a musical journey through the band's adventures and trials in the movie Fading West.
