Fallout 3 sets a bar of new achievement

Graphics: Breathtaking 9/10
Sound: Great – 8.5/10
Gameplay: Spectacular – 9.5/10
Replay Value – High (for a single player only game) 9/10
Overall – Near Perfect 9.5/10
Please note: I have never played any prior Fallout Titles, and this is from a n00b prospective.
Graphics: Breathtaking 9/10
The graphics are make you look twice – When you first exit the vault and see the landscape, you think to yourself “what next”? The graphic interface, use of PiP Boy and the movements really show that Bethesda took the time and care to make this well worth your hard earned money.
Sound: Great – 8.5/10
The sounds, music, effects, and voices take you immediately into the game. The time specific music, the radio channels, and the voice acting are all A+. The reason for the slightly lower mark is the repetitiveness of the radio, some of the sound effects, but overall, a lot of time, and thought, went into putting in effective music, voice acting and emphasis, and surrounding wasteland. The best, yet simplistic feeling is when you first turn on this gam for the first time, and all you hear is the old 50’s radio sparking on with the tube. Well done.
Gameplay: Spectacular – 9.5/10
Smooth animations, huge world design, and interactive and smart A.I. This game can be streamlined to do the main quest, or you can help the citizens of wasteland in their personal affairs. The single player game takes a lot of chances, but succeeds, in making the player make hard choices and customizing the game to their own path. Some find out too late that it is important to make hard choices to choose which attributes to build up. This aspect alone warrants multiple play times.
Some critics and players are commenting on the ending (no spoiler), but I must say that for the amount of customization a person can have in this game, it goes right along with the story.
Replay Value – High (for a single player only game) 9/10
Even without multiplayer, this game has replay value with the limitless ways you can play as – via good, bad, neutral, thief, etc. This did not feel like an RPG to me, and was well done to the point that I am on my second playthrough.
Overall – Near Perfect 9.5/10
I am not a fan of RPG’s, nor long drawn out games over 30+ hours, but I was swept away in this post apocalyptic wasteland. This holiday season is rough with the shear amount of great games, and this is definitely in the Top 5 for contention of game of the year.
This would normally be a game I would run from, but I rented it, and then bought it. It is so engrossing that others will want to watch you play and help you make those hard choices.
The game is not perfect, but close to. The story flows, as with the action, and it makes you feel as if you were there with your character trying to survive.
It has elements taken from genres such as RPG, puzzlers, action-adventures, but is not pigeonholed into this experience and to say it is an RPG is gives too little credit. This is an experience that should be played by any hardcore gamer.

One of the Best Games Ever

The sheer size of this game is amazing; somewhat bordering on that of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas but with quick travel to locations option your not spending half your time going from one place to another. The graphics and the enviroment of the ruins of the Capitol region are amazing and the detail is a testament to the designers of this game. The only problem I have with this game are the errors and bugs that have plagued myself and other players. This ranges from the game freezing 7 hours into gameplay or 45 minutes. Also, when alot is going on in the game, for instance being attacked by Super Mutants, trying to talk to someone or trying to grab something the game slows, which means it may freeze or sometime when you zoom in VATS mode to target an enemy it doesn't register the hits but subtracts ammo and VATS points which take to recharge.
But on the hole this game is worth devoting a fraction of your life to

maybe you would argue that this is just "Oblivion with guns", but this "Oblivion with guns" has more to offer than just "Oblivion with guns", it has a massive story(according the guide i received today, after you completed the game you got tons to do), also the SPECIAL is back! Pipboy is back, i cant help crying after i creating my character and seeing a whole new wasteland, which is far more detailed than the game I played 10 years ago. Maybe you would argue again, Bethesda is incapable of doing top-notch black humor like Black Isle, but the feels of exploring the wasteland is back, here I listed a few pros and cons
Pros
+ build of the whole wasteland
+ mission design
+ user interface
+ storytelling
+ Pipboy
+ tons of things to explore
Cons
- cant skip the VATS slow motion
- making choices wont affect whole game too much unlike previous ones
In general, I would recommend this game to those who love Oblivion

first off you should get the game of the year addition. It has over 20 more hours of play and new weapons, places, and enemies for only 20-30 dollars more. I played it threw about 3-4 times and only got boring when i memorized every location. You can make your character any person you want. He/she can be the last and best hope of the game or the devils sidekick. Tons of weapons and options to choose from. The game isnt hard but you can change the difficultly to make it harder for a more rewarding feeling. I loved it and did not regret paying 60 for it at all.

This game was an excellent game in my opinion. I liked how they set up the skills set and attributes and perks and what not.
The only thing that got a little bit tiresome is how there seemed to be no difference between good and bad. I mean usually a game will have completely different endings and completely different everything but not so much with this game. -Not a spoiler- in the ending it changed by maybe 5- 10 words with basically the same effect which was kind of sad.
As far as game play goes it was a lot of fun with a lot of awesome quests and side quests. If you do every quest and try to do everything you can you will be tied up with this game for a WHILE.
Overall one of PS3 best that have came out... just with a couple steps under MGS4 :P

Must-have RPG/Shooter

This game is incredible. Within minutes of finishing the opening, introduction part of the game I had already started like 3 or 4 quests and was hooked to the game. Like any good RPG, there are so many perks to choose from you really get to guide what your character becomes. Unlike many games, however, you get to decide who your character is. You can be a good guy or a bad guy. You can save people from slavers or destroy a town of innocent people. Your decisions at the beginning of the game even affect which quests become available to you later on. I still haven't finished it (I'm probably not even close) but I've enjoyed every minute of the game and will probably play it again when I beat it.

The storyline is actually fairly good, but very short. There are a decent amount of side missions, but it doesn't really make up for how short the main story line is. One thing I did like are the missions you really have to explore the world just to find. It takes away the linear feel most games get stuck with.
The graphics are fairly good, but get a bit repetitive since literally everything is wasteland, and you do start noticing a lot of lazily copy/pasted graphics with no variation.
The game play is the only part that really ruined it for me. It is a simple point and shoot, and you can switch out weapons, but nothing unique or exciting. The AI isn't very smart at all, and even on the hardest setting everything is fairly easy to kill.

I had this game before I sold my 360, and there are some pros and cons I would like to point out, but first:
This is an open world game, so don't expect one straight path to follow the whole time, that's the biggest thing.
Pros:
-The weapons throughout the game are pretty fun to mess around with. Ranging from a Pistol all the way to Frag Grenades.
-The fact that you can choose to be good or bad.
-The quests, and the dialogue choices.
-The leveling up.
-The length.
Cons:
-The game is very difficult at times.
-Too many enemies sometimes. It seems like every 15 meters there's an enemy.
-The graphics need a bit of a touch up.
-The shooting is pretty hard to master.
Also, if you want the full experience, you should buy the Game Of The Year Edition.
Overall, I rate a 4 out of 5.

This game is revolutionary. The fighting style is stupendous, the style is awesome, character development is so deep, and the other characters are really interesting. This game can sometimes become frustrating if you don't save often, but that would be your own fault. The side missions are really fun, and the weapons are awesome. There is background music despite what the other review says, but you have to turn on your radio, which you have from the start of the game. I do nto know how I lived before this game.

Definately a great game so far. A few days of playing and I have not stumbled on any bugs that seem to be rumored.
The story seems interesting. Graphics are good. Fun gameplay. Highly recommend for adults (M rating).
People keep saying dont call it Elder Scrolls with guns. But basically... its Elder Scrolls with guns, but with a lot of enhancements too.

The game is a fun thing to play with another friend in the room telling you where to go, or helping you make your character at the beginning of the game. When you start you might be overwhelmed by the amount of people that attack you as you try and leave the city. But, 99.9% of the people will get over that as soon as they see the graphics in the game.

Story-Watch a few scifi channel movies or scifi books and you'd know that this is the typical scifi "post apocolypse" storyline. But it was the way they conveyed the story that ticked me off. Just to get the setting and background of the story going they give you a long beginning in which you do stupid pointless things going through the stages of life(baby, toddler, teen, adult) while learning some history of the vault and some subplots like your relationship with the directors daughter. The game has NO CUTSCENES, which means everything is dialogue based and sometimes you have to spend so much time getting all of the information out of the stupid characters. Things you say or do have no long term effects. I killed a person and he came back later in the story.
Now that brings me to the RPG elements of the game. There's a thing called "V.A.T.S"(don't ask what it stands for, i don't remember), but basically, it's a turn based attack system like you'd find in a Final Fantasy game, except no magical powers you'll be using your gun. So i get a laser pistol and all of a sudden i can 1 hit anyone who bothers me, what's the point of healthpacks after that point in the game? Again, like i said before, any customization or things you choose to say don't really effect the story at all.
Buggyness-I walked through several walls, which saved me from a mutant guy with a gatling gun but it was annoying anyway.
No replay value really, the game is long(i rented it and didn't finish some of the side missions but those don't effect the main plot anyway). After you finish the main quest it doesn't even let you play with all of your newly found weapons.

Great game, very in depth, it has an amazing, yet chilling, world. It sent chills down my back to see Washington D.C. in ruins. I was running down a hill when I saw the Washington Memorial half destroyed. Great plot, AMAZING choice of guns, and a great game all together.
