Way Too Many Glitches

i can't in good faith rate this game any higher than 2 stars. After putting about 40 hours into this game over a 2 week period, the constant freezes and glitches have me burned out. I just don't want to play it anymore. Its incredible that once again Bethesda put out another Fallout with major glitches that ruin the game play. Customers shouldn't have to pay for a game now and then wait months for patches to fix the problems. I can deal with the bad programming and graphics (characters walking into walls or on air) but the freezing is unacceptable. I have to physically shut off my PS3 (slim 160GB model) because the game is unresponsive and locks up the ps3. Even a few of the side quest are broken and can't be completed!!! The deeper I get into the game, the more the glitches happen. I would stay away from this game until a heavy dose of patches are available to fix the problems. I would also recommend buyers to check out the forum on Bethesda website to read up on all the software related problems this game is having. It's not pretty...

Bethesda and Obsidian should be ashamed

This had so much potential. The Las Vegas setting is really nice but everything else fails. From the freezing to the terrible frame rate this game hampers itself at every turn. Obsidian is not known for making great games from Alpha Protocol to the new Dungeon Siege IV (which was actually a big step up from all their previous outings as a developer). When it comes to the story the one thing that this game and the developers have going for them it will have you wondering and playing just one more mission to see what happens but Fallout 3's story is still 100 times better. Overall a pretty bad game honestly I would recommend getting Fallout 3, TES IV Oblivion, or the newly released and amazing TES V Skyrim.

I was a huge fan of Fallout 3 and couldnt wait for New Vegas! I was not dissappointed! This game is exciting, intriguing, and very lengthy and in depth. Im talking over a 100 hours of play time with multiple out comes and mutiple scenarios. The graphics could've been a bit better, but its so much fun, you dont care. Also, be sure to save frequently! This game has the same problems locking up as the 3rd one did. (Just take it out, turn off the PS3, and put it back in.) Other than that, you definitely get your moneys worth with this one. I highly recommend it, along with the 3rd one, if you never played it!

The game is fantastic.....when it works. This game is full of glitches that have yet to be resolved. 15 minutes into playing the game it froze. i went online and saw that it was a big problem with the game. after restarting the game it happened again 30 minutes in. and i am not talking about small 1 to 2 second freezes, i am talking about having to restart the entire ps3 freezes. in addition, the game has also shutdown and restarted my ps3 on its own. no clue how that is possible. i will be playing the game then my screen goes to black and when the picture comes back its at the ps3 main menu! very strange.
as you can see i still gave this 4 stars because beyond ALL of these problems ive had the game is still fantastic. the main plot and side mission plots are both funny, entertaining and dark. i would recommend this game to anyone AFTER bethesda releases a patch to fix all of the issues.

I was curious as to how this one was going to start out, as compared to Fallout 3 ( i.e. another baby scenario). From the opening credits where it pans over your seemingly lifeless body and the shallow grave I was hooked. Most , if not all, of original control settings were same as Fallout 3 (bonus). My personal favorite was the much-needed improvement w/ manual aiming. Small addition to armor w/ the Damage Threshold concept. V.A.T.S. was not only retained but approved upon (see higher melee skill #s). The addition of the reputation system was a pleasant surprise. Allows to really shape your game-playing style. I did a straight run- don't forget to try HARDCORE mode- through the main story-line to see what I would get. Disappointingly though, it did not take very long (I think the longest part, for me, was saving up the money to actually get into the Strip). But once completed, I realized the potential for different arcs in the story as well as multiple endings. And plus the numerous side quests, that I by-passed, will keep me occupied for quite a while I imagine. I do like the new radio stations, little more variety (and honestly I could stand to do w/o Three-Dog). Personally I can also do w/o all the "Survival" and crafting stuff, BUT I do give credit for adding variety. All-in-all a VERY entertaining, very time-consuming and well worth the money (hopefully you pre-ordered to get the EXTREMELY useful 12 DTS armor and the grenade launcher). I have encountered some of the freeze-ups as stated from previous reviews. And those did come at the most inopportune times. I also am disappointed at the lack of any multiplayer options. Perhaps there's decent downloadable content in the works...

This game is great, but it is similar to Bioshock 1 & 2 AND Alpha Protocol, for those who've played those games before will know what i mean.. But for those who dont know, i'm talking about you given the oportunity to chose what you want the player to say when your character is talking to another person in the game.. Some people might not like that, me i dont mind, i find it interesting, the game is very Realistic, you have to feed your player, or he can dehydrate, he can/will get addicted to drinking alcohol (ex. beer, wine, whisky, etc.# & by pressing R2 you can special choose the body part you want to shoot of the humans and/or animals, but be careful cuz like in the Real World, if you kill a person, you wont find that person alive later on in the game meaning there gone for good #my lil' bro killed the girl that liked me 'the character' when i berly started the game so now i'm stuck in a lonely town with no girlfriend.# so yeah, great game, Especially for the $9.99 i Paid for it Online @ Bestbuy.com #meaning here..lol# i've been playing the game for a while now and i am nowhere near finishing the game, there are so many missions, so many things to do in the game, I LOVE IT, great story too, cant wait to see how the game will end, its crazy.. :)

...Kinda disappointing.
I really wanted to like this game, and it's not bad, it's just not as good as Fallout 3. The environment, the music, the overlapping side quests...ehh.
Glitches? Yeah, a few, but after reading these and other comments, I consider myself lucky in that my game has frozen maybe a total of three times. The expansion packs in Fallout 3 were much buggier than this game. There's a point in Broken Steel where the frame rate is more like a slide show.
In all, if you're a fan of the series, go for it. If you've never played and want to try it, start with Fallout 3 first. And get the Prima guide too. It's indispensable and a good read on it's own.

For some reason i thought they would have fixed all the bugs from fallout 3 before putting this new game out but they didn't. The game freeze up for a few seconds at a time while moving through the mojave desert. There are also some major glitches where you can't get in our out of some areas. You just get hit with a wonderful black screen. All and all they will fix most of these glitches in do time, with that said this is a really fun and addicting game. Just prepare yourself for these glitches.

The game play is nearly untouched from fallout 3. If you enjoyed fallout 3 then this is a perfect game for you. The gameplay is nearly endless, and the paths you can go down provide for a great replay value after you've played through the first time.

A great game that builds on what Fallout 3 presented. Good graphics, an improved VATS system, and a good story.

This was worth the buy. Not many games out there have much value when you can pay $60 and get only a couple of days play, but not this one. It was a very involved game with plenty of missions to choose from. I think I had over 70 hours of game play and did not complete all the missions in the game.

Improved Fallout 3

I can't stand full-on shooters (Call of Duty, Halo, etc.), but I like RPGs a lot, and I appreciate the combination of the two that Fallout creates. I loved Fallout 3 but found it to have little replay value once you finished it.
In many ways, New Vegas is basically a new world of Fallout 3 with some added replayability. I haven't finished it yet, but with all the different faction reputations, there are quests that would be available to me on a new game that aren't available now. That alone would make it worthwhile to replay.

Disappointment from fallout 3

If you are looking for a follow up game of equal caliber from fallout 3, you will be greatly disappointed. While the sheer size of the game is equal, the game has a tendency to glitch all the time, freeze up, and even shut off completely at random. Your followers will become invisible or non existent and impossible to find. The game plays exactly the same as fallout 3.
The challenge is very high, almost too much so at times. Saving constantly is almost required, as health is scarce and enemies plenty throughout. The length is long, and by long, I mean I have played for over 30 hours and figure I am 30 % through the game. This is not something you can beat in one or two weekends.
If you enjoyed fallout 3, this will be a step back, but still an enjoyment to play for the most part. The appeal of the game overshadows the shortcomings, but just barely. If you are new to the fallout series, pick up fallout 3 instead.

This game is good overall but is tainted by glitches. If you are a fan of Fallout 3 then the New Vegas is definitely a must but if you're just looking for a Fallout game to play I would recommend Fallout 3 first. The storylines aren't linked but I think Fallout 3 is a better game overall.

Lots to see. Lots to do. Lots of things to shoot. Lots of people to meet. Lots of quests to undertake. Lots of hours to spend gaming and.... Lots of bugs. Lots of glitches. Lots of freezing. Several broken quests.
The shame of it is that the freezing, glitches, bugs are so bad. In a perfect world, for the amount of content, it should be Game of the Year. For the amount of problems, it shouldn't be bought at all. It's not a perfect world. If you have patience, want replayability, a lot of game for the buck, like an RPG type shooter, enjoyed Fallout 3, then this is a good game to get in spite of the frustrations.

This game, well, its from Bethesda, and Fallout 3 was the Game of the Year, so Oblivion, so Morrowind, they know what we like and want, and they are really smart, so, they will give us, in my opinion, a long, hard, beautiful, zombie-squashing, headshot-testing, VATS-awesomeness game. Knowing it will be in Las Vegas, reminds me of Resident Evil 3 movie, and great thoughts and ideas come to mind, so, keep in bethsoft.com to learn more soon.

This game is pretty darn boring to me. The missions are very... I guess boring for being in a post-apocalyptic world. Graphics suck Bad! There's just not much interesting to this game. The good things is the open world and length to the game. Where so many games anymore can be beaten in a matter of a few hours, by contrast this game takes many-many hours of play and with the open world environment it can almost take as long as you want to play it really problem for me is I don't want to play it-which is to bad. Basically the actual content is not good, at least for my taste but hey we're all different.

Gameplay is great, graphics are awesome and great story telling. I love this type of first person shooter. Never tried the other fallout games but I'm hooked. If you dont get this one I also recommend Mass effect 2 before the 3rd one comes out.

The game was great, but the constant freezing up caused me a lot of frustration. I almost stopped playing it because of the freezing problems. Especially when you do a lengthy mission and haven't saved it before a freezing episode.
