An animated spoof of the movie classic Star Wars. Hilarious, intelligently colorful, and spectacularly created with cool animated special effects. This is most definitely a must-have for 'Family Guy' and 'Star Wars' fans.

Well done NOT AS BUT good as Blue Harvest

I am a long time, as of 2010 30 years, "Star Wars" collector. Fan of "Family Guy" since the ORIGINAL debut in 1999. I have so been looking forward to this since the "Blue Harvest" episode aired in 2007 & the DVD release said they were going to do the Empire edition. Since Empire is the best of the 6 films. VERY DISAPPOINTED this did NOT air on TV 1st. Should have. Just because it was straight to DVD being able to cuss did NOT mean they should have & did when not necessary. Empire edition is well done but not quite as good as "Blue Harvest". Yoda fell flat. They could have done so much with Yoda. They did NOTHING on how the character speaks. They could have done all sorts of things with that. WE DID NOT NEED JAMES WOODS. You will never look at the Cookie Monster the same way again. I was VERY DISAPPOINTED that they waited until Christmas week to release. Yes, I know for Christmas presents but I did NOT appreciate having to go out to VERY BUSY stores to purchase. We know, from the extras, they will be doing a Jedi edition. I think we know what character choices they have for Meg. Jabba or the Rancor? I did enjoy this Empire edition course getting Back to the Future at the end & Brian was right End of Empire Lando is wearing Han's clothes. DVD package is POOR. No chapter search list. The little flyer in mine was packaged wrong & folded. And, THESE HORRIBLE NEW DVD CASES WITH THE HOLES IN THEM. CHEAP, CHEAP, CHEAP. Good extras on it though.

    Something Dark This Way Comes

I saw this when it first aired on t.v. just like 80% of the shows fans, that was a joke.Anyway this episode of Family Guy follows "The Empire Strikes Back" film very well in parody form, but some of the jokes are just too old, like when the Imperial Walker falls over and grabs it's knee in pain. Some of the music is straight from the Star Wars soundtrack, with the creators blend of their own music put into it.They even go as far to borrow film from other movies like Rocky IV,even quote lines from the movie "Back to the Future 2" Doc Brown's letter to Marty after the Delorean had been struck by lighting. It's not a bad episode, with minor laughs, memable scenes from Empire Strikes Back film,it should make any Family Guy,and Star Wars fan enjoy.

    Family Guy: Something......Darkside underachieves

I love Star Wars, I love Family Guy and I have seen Family Guy: Blue Harvest at least 10 times and laugh till it hurts every time. So then, Family Guy: Something, Something, Something Darkside should be a home run, right? Wrong. Don't get me wrong, I still liked the movie. The problem is that they set the bar so high with Blue Harvest that it was just gonna be really, really difficult to match with this one. But they tried and there in lies the problem. They tried to hard! This movie had potential to be great. After all, Empire Strikes Back is the best Star Wars movie, so why should't it's spoof be the same? But it's not. It is a good movie and I will watch it again and again, but if you are expecting a home run follow up to Blue Harvest like I was, You will be disappointed.

    Very sad:(

I can't believe I bought this, 4:3 screen ratio? What the F#@*, I got a HDTV Widescreen and a blu-ray to enjoy my entire TV not just the center of it. What the hell were they thinking? Blue Harvest was in wide screen (and an all around 5), if they can pay to have a purple elephant run across the screen they can afford to produce in wide screen. If I didn't open it I would have returned it and never thought twice about it. As far as the story goes, well not much their either, lets just say I wouldn't watch it sober! Plus to put a no named character in the place of "YODA" what r you thinking man? I hope they get on the ball soon w/this net one. Or they just lost a fan:( BIG DISAPPOINTMENT!!!!

this movie was hysterical and the new characters were well placed. As for the others who complained the the format was 4:3, you are not smart. Blue Harvest was 4:3 and in the commentary of the disc MacFarlane says he feels that comedies should not be in widescreen so don't expect Family Guy to ever be in widescreen. My only qualms would be the movie ended a little early and blu-ray is a waste for a cartoon, go regular dvd.

This DVD release is a follow-up to Blue Harvest. Just like the first Star Wars spoof this one is hilarious. There are even more Family Guy characters portrayed as Star Wars characters. There are some great special features inlcuding a sneak peek at the next Star Wars Family Guy spoof. This DVD is great for Family Guy fans.

This movie is hilarious, Seth McFarland and the guys did it again with another laughter-filled star wars parody. I recommend buying this movie if you are a fan of Family Guy, Star Wars, or if you enjoy laughing.

Got movie on Time and in perfect condition, I thought the movie was okay and it had it's funny parts but the first star wars spoof Blue harvest was twice as better. I think it was missing something and the humor wasn't as great. Hopefully when they do return of the jedi it will be a little more funnier than Empire spoof was.

    The Best Star Wars Parody!

I went to comic-con 2009 and saw a preview for this. It was extremely hilarious. It's offensive to some (gays). It has stronger language than blue harvest. Overall, if your a real family guy fan, you'll love this.

Wow! Not funny. Run don't walk away from this.

Something, Something, Something Darkside was the biggest let down of all time. Run, don't walk away from this piece of trash. I don't know if George Lucas told Macfarlane he could have the rights to make it but he wasn't allowed to make fun of Star Wars at all but that is what it seemed like. I am so sad I had to sit through it. Oh and if you thought there would be an awesome scene with the Chicken as Boba Fett you are gonna be one sad camper. He is almost not even in it. Plus they whiffed on the Jewish Lando, he might have has 2 lines in the whole thing. A lot of the humor is so bland it's like they just wanted to remake the movie and not be funny. It isn't even in 16:9 wide screen, it's 4:3. Really. The extra on the disc are the worst I have ever seen. They show a reading for the next Star Wars spoof and I swear I wanted to jump out a window it was so bad. I am so sad that it turned out like this, the first one is off the chart good, 5 stars. But this one was just awful.
