Potterheads wishing for more magic and more action from the movie series are in for a treat. After a tentatively mild prequel, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald surpasses expectations with its engaging story and brilliant performances. The cast is bigger than before and more prominent characters come into limelight in this film. Even as their storylines converge, the plot does not feel too cluttered and everything simply comes together brilliantly and heads in a definite direction. While J. K. Rowling is definitely the one to credit here for the story, director David Yates also deserves a mention for giving us a beautiful foray into the writer’s vivid imagination.

As a middle film in a trilogy, there is always going to be a lot of content to work through in order to set the stage for what is to come. Here all of the relationships are being stretched and broken and sides are being chosen, but we are starting to get a glimpse of how far reaching the impacts will be leading up to the eventual confrontation with Grindelwald. The characters continue to develop, and the CGI creatures continue to steal the show for the lighter moments. Overall, it was an enjoyable film and we are looking forward to the final installment.

While not as good as the first Fantastic Beasts movie, Crimes of Grindelwald is still a good folow-up. Once again,the primary cast is fine and Johnny Depp as Grindelwald stands out. He goes from raw power to subtle persuasion without missing a beat. Oddly, when I saw this in the theater, I felt that the story lines were a bit too muddled but watching it a home was more satisfying experience. The plots played out in a more cohesive way. The Dolby Vision picture was tack sharp and the Atmos soundtrack got the job done. All in all, Crimes turned out to be more of an engaging movie on second viewing and one that should hold up on further viewings.

My family is a big Harry Potter fan clan, having worn out all the books. And that might be why we are enjoying the Beasts series. We don’t know where the story is going in between Newt and Grindelwalds defeat by Dumbledore (cuz we know he wins the Elder Wand), and this adds fresh life and more options to the prequels. With the HP series, the plot is already set. I also enjoy the all-adult cast—more consistency between the actors and their believability. Redmayne and Depp are filled with brilliant naïveté and demagogic menace

They're all back (Newt, Dumbledore, Tina, Jacob, Queenie, etc.) with Grindelwald on the loose, and some new faces as well, each having to pick sides as to what the Wizarding world should be like. Of course we have some fantastic beasts showing up to make things interesting, along with a few secrets being revealed that will propel this sequel into the obvious extension of the plot yet to come. There are lots of special effects for Harry Potter fans! If you liked the first film, you need to see this one before the next one comes out.

While the slipcover banner does advertise an "Extended Cut", said cut is actually just a bonus feature for the digital version. This means that it cannot be watched offline on several vendors, such as iTunes, Vudu, or Amazon. I ended up downloading the Extended Cut onto my computer via Microsoft Movies and TV, but I was limited to 720p. Fortunately the digital code uses the lenient Movies Anywhere service, but the value of this product will be significantly reduced a year from now when the codes expire. Outside of this one setback, the product's quality and value is comparable to other Warner Bros. AAA releases.

The Blu Ray Movie in question was part of an order of a number of Blu Ray movie I purchased an had shipped to me via Best Buy. Overall the movie and service were very good. Fantastic Beasts did not disappoint as there were plenty action and plot twists to be had.The visuals were stunning, one might even say epic at some points, especially if you have a larger screen television. I did purchase the 3D combo version, but will not comment on it as I only watched the stand alone Blu-ray version. Overall, believe that this was a good purchase and recommend it to those who enjoyed the Harry Potter series. KPW

I saw the movie with family on the big screen in November 2018 when it came out. We all liked it very much. It was fun and very entertaining. The cast was great and the story was good too. However, we all liked the first Fantastic Beasts movie more. We are looking forward to seeing the third one in the movie theater. The Blu Ray disc is fantastic. Its audio and video are excellent. It comes with a DVD and a Digital HD copy of the movie. They also included an extended version of the movie which is nice. Finally, the Best Buy price was unbeatable. Highly recommended.

Johnny Depp delivers again. Along with solid performances from thevother actors you can get lost in the story. I like movies where you don’t gon”oh that’s si an so. An in this movie I definitely don’t think Depp. Special effects are fun an a few nice twists eith a few new/old character pop ups. I did not go see this at the theater. And I cheated and used imdb from time to time to understand plot points after the movie. Sound on 4k seemed better but that could just be me.

The first Fantastic Beasts movie was great, and typically sequels are not quite as good as the first movie in a series. But I thought this second Fantastic Beasts movie was as good, if not better, than the first one. My daughter loved it too, especially the Niffer (how you could not love that creature). It was a bit more dark than the first one, but no more so than the Harry Potter movies. The special effects were incredible, and the magical creatures are really well done.

I was surprised at the inclusion of Johnny Depp in the Wizarding World, but he's doing a great job thus far. This is a bit darker than the first Fantastic Beasts but moves the 5 prequels along. We get to see Nicolas Flamel and his Philosopher's/Sorceror's Stone in his home. Eddie Redmayne is once again instantly lovable for his pure kindness. It's just a shame that the memory of Newt Scamander was never mentioned in the first 8 Harry Potter films. Canon for all of us Muggles.

The one complaint I heard about this movie was that if you’re not immersed in the Harry Potter universe it can be confusing. There’s no excuse to be ignorant of the Harry Potter universe since every movie and book are all available in multiple formats, so get to binge watching (or reading) and enjoy this marvelous experience. The 4K version is jaw-droppingly crisp, the sound is also amazing. So do yourself a favor and catch up on the series and definitely watch this movie!

The movie looks and sounds amazing. The 3D adds additional depth, however the color palette used in the production is overall flat, lacking in color with the exception of a few scenes. Audio is active across all channels, most pronounced during action scenes containing magic. The story as a whole is only "okay", leaving the viewer with little to no connection to any character, and rendering the emotional experience distant and without heart. I recommend it as a 3D movie, but it is only passable as an installment in the world of the Hogwarts franchise.

A delightful addition to this continuation of the wizard world we enjoyed in Harry Potter. This one is a bit darker than the first, but light enough for older children and adults to enjoy, and for fans of Rowling’s stories. The sets in Paris are especially marvelous, and the development of newer characters and appearance of older, more familiar ones, is intriguing. I loved the story and will enjoy watching this one again and again!

I purchased this movie because 3d movies are getting harder and harder to find, and I really enjoyed the characters and the first movie. Without going into any details of the plot, this movie just wasn't as much fun as the first, and to me, a little harder to understand. With that said though, visually, this is a very satisfying film to watch in 3-D. It was done very well in spite of the fact quite a large portion of the movie was shot in the dark. The 3-D comes across very well, and there's no other way I'd prefer to watch this movie.

I would agree that movie critics have it right, with a lot of the detail, in regards to the later story of Harry Potter, is somehow revealed in much of what happens in the 2nd installment of the Fantastic Beasts series. I haven't bought the books for HP, so I rely on the movies mostly for the story line. However, I do enjoy it. The extended portion, I don't really think it did much for me, however, there wasn't anything bad about it.

I really enjoyed the HARRY POTTER SERIES and I hope it's not over yet this New version of it is a real nice change about witches and warlocks that has a great history that goes beyond just the school of Hogwarts and there is plenty action packed minutes and and countless other people that are new to the world and the creatures are the best, and way past what I could imagine, so I'm waiting for the next great adventure

Wonderful Experience! Another Terrific addition to The Wizzarding Would of Harry Potter! This 4K disc is stunning! with Brilliant 4K resolution, Sunning HDR colors and contrasts and the Surround Sound is Remarkable! Dolby Atmos is truly Superb! This is a Reference Standard Disc and a great addition to your Movie night collection. After watching this disc, streaming seems irrelevant! A must own for your repeated viewing pleasure.

Not all sequels are bad. This is a worthy watch! Nothing really ever beats the original movie. I like the Fantastic Beasts movies more than the Harry Potter series! It's geared more towards the "not so young" crowd and has a good story line. Love Johnny Depp (always) even when he isn't a "nice guy". Word has it, there's a third movie going to be released, so you kinda have to watch this one if you want to keep up. *SPOILER* I wish the relationship between Dumbledore and Grindlewald had been elaborated on a a bit more.

Well, I hope J.K.Rowling can keep up the standards of the original, "Harry Potter " series. I know this a prequel story/stories (so to speak-) for the HP world, for us fans wanting more, and changes may be necessary (unfortunately), I hope she can do justice seeing that the movie version is out and done before any actual books. Effects are good, if not better considering now how far back the HP films were done. I don't recall how many "books/films" Rowling said she's doing for this Fantastic Beasts series...
