As a longtime fan of the series since the 16-bit era, I can safely say that this is the best entry to come out in a long time. Yeah, it's different and maybe not what you'd expect from a Final Fantasy title, but that doesn't mean it isn't good. The gameplay is fast-paced and fun, the story is intriguing and interesting, and the music is great! And don't be scared off by the '16' in the title if you're a series newcomer! You need no prior knowledge or experience with the series in order to enjoy this one.

One of my favorite games ever when it comes to the cinematics, music, and aura lol. Story and characters are great too, I just wish the combat was a bit more strategic.

Performamce mode has a lower resolution than I would like. First PS5 title that I have played in graphics mode. The story is fantastic if you like over-the-top melodramatic anime storytelling. Cutscenes are rendered beautifully. Gameplay is a different story. It truly makes no sense that they would lock a difficulty option behind a 35+ hour campaign is mind-boggling when the game is as easy as it is. Still, the combat feels fun and I quite enjoy balancing the different Eikons. All in all, a very strong game that could have been a stronger game of the year contender with a few tweaks to difficulty and performance.

First off, I will never purchase another game from Best Buy again, the case arrived broken and pieces were inside. The customer service was of no help but fortunately the game disc works. With that out of the way.
I didn't like this game much. Great graphics is not what makes a game good. First off I couldn't stand the combat, the boss's hp pool is ridiculous and if you are not cheesing your way through combat using the accessories given to you by default, you have to learn how to dodge and dodge well and time your melee attacks while the rest of the time just button mashing the ranged attack. My fingers were slipping off the controller buttons, I cannot stand this type of combat. Button mashing combat is not fun. There was also too much of cinematic combat, I didn't spend 70$ on a game to watch a movie while I pressed one button time to time.
Not to mention, the swearing and the nudity is not what makes a game dark and mature, it actually turned me off from the game even more. FF10 got it right with the story and the relationship that bloomed between Tidus and Yuna. FF13 was also very much fun despite what some might say, which I see in this version of the game there were elements of FF13 implemented and brought back nostalgia. FF15's story might be all over the place but I had a lot of fun with combat.
On a positive note, I was very glad the developers removed Mog's voicing. It was a welcome change and something I had wanted since Mog was given an actual strong presence in the FF series, the developers should have done this from the beginning with previous titles. As far as characters go, Clive made a good strong protaganist along with good side characters, Cid and Joshua and the npcs. Jill on the other hand I found her character weak and bland, she didn't stand out much only for the fact that she was just there because of the story. The antagonists were strongly played and was fleshed out well. Great graphics and voice acting, story was intriguing and loved the twists with Eidolons and the Crystal.
The star rating deductions doesn't have to do with the case but the game.

What an amazing game! Though maybe not for every fan if the series, Final Fantasy XVI is an incredible cinematic experience. Simple in it's gameplay at first it becomes more rewarding as the game progresses. But the excellent story and amazing voice acting and top notch graphics set this apart from what has come before. Nany will draw parallels to Hame of Thrones, and though there is similarities this game defines itself as an incredible entry in the series!

From the onset, the new(er) action style approach of the game makes a fantastic introduction. While its not the hardest or deepest fighting system, its very fun to play and master. Thr music is probably some of the best in the series from the late 90s games. The biggest gripe i had with the game is the side quests. Some of them in the beginning are very interesting and world building but the quests become redundant towards the end. Otherwise, this probably my favorite FF game since FFX.

This is my third journey through one of these games and the turn based combat is replaced with Devil May Cry style combat that is versatile and can made to your liking. The story is wonderful, bringing in the tropes of high fantasy and blending it with the zaniness of shonen anime. I loved (or loved to hate) every single character in this game. Great voice acting and beautiful graphics.

Overall, very good game. My biggest problem with this game is the inconsistent frame rate and the very reduction in resolution once you enter combat. I kid you not the resolution will drop to as low as 720p to maintain a constant 60fps. Other than this, the story, soundtrack, and combat are phenominal.

I'm a sucker for intense story and combat. I would've rather had more open worlds and multiple characters but the game was great and I would highly recommend it. I can't wait to buy this on PC as well for the mod support.

Story and combat is A+! Don't let people tell you this game is "not Final Fantasy", because it's literally a love letter to fans with easter eggs and nods thrown in there. Yes, it's different. But every Final Fantasy changes and evolves over time. This is a good thing! The only thing I missed was mini-games. Sidequests are very story and character-driven.

9/10 , 5 stars out of 5! A Masterclass on its own. Yes it’s a action RPG, okay, yeah it’s not turned-based , but it’s final fantasy through and through. It lives up to the hype! More and more you play! My only gripes, more engaging side quests and more monster Variety. That’s it that’s All, BUY THE DANG GAME you prudes and lose yourself in the story.

FF16 is a bit of a breath of fresh air as a lot of it is very linear and the open areas aren’t overwhelmingly vast. A welcome feature when every game has massive open worlds littered with a billion icons on the map. The gameplay isnt traditional turn based but heavy action. And its a lot of fun. The story is fantastic too. A must play.

Another great installment to my favorite RPG series. The combat is slightly different than I was expecting and is boarder line easy, but rewarding if you can perfect certain combos. So far the story is great. Not an open world map but it works. I would recommend this to anyone who has played previous iterations of the franchise.

The story and graphics are great, but the difficulty is too easy. You could easily beat the game without dying once. I know it gets more difficult in new game+ but I'm not motivated enough to play through it a 2nd time. The game also has very little depth in terms of customization, gear, and optional dungeons/bosses.

I bought this game having never played a Final Fantasy game in my life…I’m 62 years old. This game is one of the best games I’ve ever played and after 157 hours in, has everything a gamer would want…Content, Great Story, Great Graphics, Great Score/Music, Great Value and Great Fun. Any gamer will love playing this game!!!!

The story is fantastic, the grapics are amazing, and the boss battles are huge jaw dropping action packed set-pieces. The only downside to this game is how easy it is. No options to remove quest markers or any HUD elements, no difficulty settings, crafting items isn’t really that in-depth, and generally the enemies and bosses don’t offer significant challenges.

This game is an incredible experience in gameplay, story, and presentation. The combat is on the simpler side, but has more than enough satisfaction and excitement to remain engaging throughout the length. The side quests can get a bit tedious at points, but are worth doing as it greatly enhances the maim experience.

Incredible story and music, good graphics and gameplay. There are definitely imperfections in the game, but it is an overall enjoyable experience and keeps you hooked for the whole game. Took me over 50 hours to beat.

Great game. The music is perfect for every scene, the graphics are intense and beautiful, and the story is moving with that unique Final Fantasy charm.

FFXVI starts strong with a first half full of great characters, an interesting narrative, fantastic combat, and tons of visual spectacle. As it continues past that mark though, the game begins to lose a lot of steam. By the end, it's a worthwhile experience but suffers greatly from repetition and pacing issues. Still, it's overall very solid.
