Final Fantasy 16 is an absolute masterpiece that seamlessly combines nostalgia with innovation, delivering an unforgettable gaming experience. From the moment I stepped into the mystical realm of Valisthea, I was captivated by its rich lore and breathtaking landscapes.
The game's characters are deep and relatable, each with their own compelling story arcs. The protagonist's journey from a young, inexperienced warrior to a seasoned hero is beautifully depicted, making it easy to emotionally invest in their growth and triumphs.
The combat system is a perfect blend of classic Final Fantasy elements and fresh mechanics. The real-time action sequences are fluid and engaging, while the tactical elements allow for strategic planning in battles. The variety of jobs and abilities offer endless customization possibilities, ensuring every player can find their perfect playstyle.
The stunning visuals and intricate details make Valisthea a living, breathing world. From bustling cities to serene forests, each location is a work of art. The attention to detail is evident in the smallest elements, like the mesmerizing spell effects or the emotions conveyed on characters' faces during cutscenes.
The score, composed by a musical genius, adds an extra layer of magic to the experience. The melodies perfectly complement the emotions of each scene, elevating the game to new heights of immersion.
Beyond the main storyline, the side quests and optional content provide hours of additional gameplay. Exploring hidden dungeons, uncovering ancient secrets, and completing challenging boss battles rewards players with unique items and lore, encouraging them to fully immerse themselves in Valisthea's world.
Moreover, the game's narrative twists and turns keep players on the edge of their seats, never knowing what surprises await around the next corner. The emotional rollercoaster this game takes you on is a testament to the exceptional storytelling prowess of the developers.
Final Fantasy 16 strikes a harmonious balance between innovation and the series' iconic elements, making it a true gem for both long-time fans and newcomers. With its compelling story, polished gameplay mechanics, and jaw-dropping visuals, Final Fantasy 16 stands tall as one of the finest entries in the franchise, proving once again that the Final Fantasy legacy continues to evolve and thrive.

After finishing the game I had to process everything i went through and while the gameplay may seem a bit repetitive at times the story is what really got me . The characters the visuals all amazing. These characters definitely grow on you . Voice acting was amazing as well and lets not forget music some of the best I've seen in a final fantasy . If you are ok with this being not a traditional final fantasy style game and are into action games like devil may cry you'll love this game .

This Final Fantasy is great with a few flaws. The main story is for the most part really well written the side quest not so much, well the final sidequests are good but you don't have access to them until the end of the game. Another thing about this game is the fact that it's not a RPG but rather a action game with skill cool downs and no enemy elemental weaknesses, think more Devil May Cry as opposed to Final Fantasy games. The new gameplay loop is still pretty fun in my opinion. Also exploring the maps was a waste of time because it yielded useless rewards like a jingle to play in Cid's base or 3 measly gil :/

I was really looking forward to this game before its release, and after putting in about 44ish hours, I can say it is good! While this game does some things very well, there are, however, some things it does not do so well. Note that this review only covers the base game; I have not played the DLC that has been added to the game.
Starting with the story, I think it starts off very strong, but it tends to stagnate in the middle. And the final act starts to fall apart and overstay its welcome a bit. Despite this, however, the story offers great spectacle and awesome set pieces. Other than the main story, you can do side quests that add a little bit of context or lore to the world. Besides a small handful of good side quests, this game has probably the worst side quests I have seen in a video game in recent years. The majority of the quests are fetch quests and are painfully dull to go through. But these quests are usually short in length, so they are at least over relatively quickly.
Gameplay-wise, the game is similar to games like Devil May Cry and Neir Automata, where you chain combos together in stylish fashion. Like the previously mentioned games, the combat feels smooth and is quite satisfying to play with the different tools given to the player. The only issue is that the special effects make it hard to see what is going on the screen at times. In addition to the base game, there is a new game+, arcade mode, and mission select. So, even after completing the game, there are still more hours of play to sink in.
Overall, I think it is a great game, despite its flaws. Would recommend 8/10.

As the title suggests, the game is extremely polished with amazing voice acting, beautiful graphics and epic story elements that are hampered down with slightly shallow gameplay on first playthrough and some pacing issues a third of the way through the game. Some really extreme highs with some unfortunate lows, but never enough to stop me from enjoying the game. New Game + feels like what it should have been from the start. I definitely enjoyed the experience and still recommend a play 100%.

Game completed at 76 hours.
FFXVI is a bit of a mixed bag. It feels like 2 different writers wrote the game, and one of them had significantly less ability than the other. On the one hand you have the epic, dramatic, and overall really good main story. And on the other hand, the main story is told entirely through cutscenes - leaving the rest of the story to be told mostly by side quests. Many of them have decent writing and add to the game's world building. Some of them are terrible. And many of them focus on side characters that are hardly ever relevant in the main story. Due to this whiplash going from the main story portions to the in-between portions, I'd call the game as having something akin to bad pacing.
The game is however, overall good. The main story is fantastic. The world building is really interesting. The music is some of the best final fantasy has to offer. The gameplay is really fun. But almost everything has a but attached to it that keeps the game from being the masterpiece I and many others hoped it would be.
Great gameplay - but the game is almost insultingly easy. Great story - but being told entirely in cutscenes left me feeling there could have been more development to character arcs, to story portions, to many bits and bobs. The compendium available at all times to remind you of the characters and what's going on is great - but is also used as a crutch, with important information relegated to it instead of being given through the story.
All in all, I recommend the game. I'm not sure a 4 out of 5 is quite right, but I also wouldn't call the game average. It's a game worth playing, so long as you temper your expectations and go in knowing this isn't one of the behemoths of the series. But it is the best in a long, long time.

I never played the series just becuase the sheer amount of tittles and varying battle mechanics. This game caught my attention simply by the art cover, and with more thorough research this game looked sleek and fine tuned. The experience was fun, engaging, a story that offers different personalities for the main character. The playstyle is similar to a hack and slash but this one takes a more toned down approach that makes battles fun without being dragged on or excessively flashy attacks (still viable). Id recommend this game to any new player coming into the world of FF, a game that lets you experience the characters in an action story and approchable learning curve!!

Great game with depth story, very interesting music. The gameplay is good, but it is different from other final fantasy game cause you can only control the main character most of the time. Not an open world kind of game though, the only reason that it had 4 stars review is sometimes the NPCs on back ground only repeatedly doing things making the game feels less lively.

Not admittedly huge into the Final Fantasy series. I’ve played and enjoyed FF15 and FF7 Remake, as well as messed around with a few others. FF16 is exactly what I hoped it would be. A darker take on the series. While heavily story focused and lighter on the typical RPG elements, the action combat and overall gameplay still feels fun, rewarding, and just strategic enough. The entire experience is brimming with epic cinematic moments. Voice acting and soundtrack is top tier, graphics impressive and art design for characters and environments is beautifully done. Story and characters have been wholly engaging from the start — this world’s lore, history, and setting is fascinating and enthralling. Love this game.

I want to be clear this is more of a 4.5. The writing is very well done. The plot hooks the player early and builds tension perfectlly. The music is beautifully orchestrated and worth of being Final Fantasy Qualty. Graphics are excellent, a few frame rate drops here and there but overall very smooth. Its biggest drawback is its lack of diversity in combat. Combat abilites seem to have very decided roles i.e. combo building, high damage, defensive. Players aren't encouraged to experiment and combat can become stale.
Overall an excellent entry into the mainline series, the new combat while not perfect is a step into a new Final Fantasy combat system. And once refined could change how we truly enjoy role playing games.
TL:DR.
Game is a staple entry to series and can be enjoyed by action gamers and more casual gamers alike. Amazing story and soundtrack.

Featuring incredible graphics, a sweeping score by Square Enix composer Soken, and the development team from Creative Business Unit 3 led by Naoki Yoshida, this Final Fantasy is a return to the mystical fantasy genre that popularized the series all those years ago. The combat designer is the same talented battle specialist from Devil May Cry, so swords and sorcery duels are fast and fluid, while the writing will evoke emotions from excitement to sorrow. As the first M rated final fantasy title, this title is not intended for kids, as the story follows a much more mature and darker narrative, but even in darkness there is hope. That's where Clive's journey begins...

This game was so good. I didn't want it to end and I had a hard time stopping once I started to play it. The story and the visuals are fantastic. The voice actors are among the finest you'll find. It strays from the older combat of the original games and is more action based but it was still very fun for me.

This is definitely the best action gane of 2023 if yiu ask me. Its combat, boss fights, story and characters all come together to create one of the most satisfying action-RPG experiences yet. Thing is, you need to be okay with the fact that the gameplay is pure action. The only real gameplay thing that you’ll be doing is fighting and getting better gear to fight even better. Side quests will almost always end up with an enemy encounter and there are a LOT of optional bosses. The narrative, main characters and supporting cast all help tie things together and keep you invested. Also, the game’s just cool. Its fun, its satisfying.

If had to give this game a rating out of 10, I would give it a 7. This is different approach to the Final Fantasy series.
Pros: Story is phenomenal; I was constantly drawn in by the well-written characters and in depth world / lore. The combat is also very fluid, fast and provides great action. The world itself is beautiful and the cinematics are top notch.
Cons: the world is mostly empty and linear; the linear nature is necessarily negative, but there is hardly anything worth finding or discovering. The RPG mechanics are very light. Those looking for in-depth systems to create classes / builds will be very disappointed. The side quests are abhorrent; just pure fetch quests mostly.

I haven't enjoyed a main title Final Fantasy game this much since 12 on the PS2! The visuals, the story, and the music are top tier in this game, and this is certainly a must buy for the PS5! It isn't a typical old turn-based JRPG, and it isn't trying to be. Square Enix has been trying new things in every Final Fantasy title, and I believe this one is a surefire hit! Even if you aren't great at action RPGs they make this easily accessible for all skill levels. Great game overall. Highly recommend!

As a longtime fan of the series since the 16-bit era, I can safely say that this is the best entry to come out in a long time. Yeah, it's different and maybe not what you'd expect from a Final Fantasy title, but that doesn't mean it isn't good. The gameplay is fast-paced and fun, the story is intriguing and interesting, and the music is great! And don't be scared off by the '16' in the title if you're a series newcomer! You need no prior knowledge or experience with the series in order to enjoy this one.

Performamce mode has a lower resolution than I would like. First PS5 title that I have played in graphics mode. The story is fantastic if you like over-the-top melodramatic anime storytelling. Cutscenes are rendered beautifully. Gameplay is a different story. It truly makes no sense that they would lock a difficulty option behind a 35+ hour campaign is mind-boggling when the game is as easy as it is. Still, the combat feels fun and I quite enjoy balancing the different Eikons. All in all, a very strong game that could have been a stronger game of the year contender with a few tweaks to difficulty and performance.

This game is an incredible experience in gameplay, story, and presentation. First off, I will never purchase another game from Best Buy again, the case arrived broken and pieces were inside. The customer service was of no help but fortunately the game disc works. With that out of the way.
I didn't like this game much. Great graphics is not what makes a game good. First off I couldn't stand the combat, the boss's hp pool is ridiculous and if you are not cheesing your way through combat using the accessories given to you by default, you have to learn how to dodge and dodge well and time your melee attacks while the rest of the time just button mashing the ranged attack. My fingers were slipping off the controller buttons, I cannot stand this type of combat. Button mashing combat is not fun. There was also too much of cinematic combat, I didn't spend 70$ on a game to watch a movie while I pressed one button time to time.
Not to mention, the swearing and the nudity is not what makes a game dark and mature, it actually turned me off from the game even more. FF10 got it right with the story and the relationship that bloomed between Tidus and Yuna. FF13 was also very much fun despite what some might say, which I see in this version of the game there were elements of FF13 implemented and brought back nostalgia. FF15's story might be all over the place but I had a lot of fun with combat.
On a positive note, I was very glad the developers removed Mog's voicing. It was a welcome change and something I had wanted since Mog was given an actual strong presence in the FF series, the developers should have done this from the beginning with previous titles. As far as characters go, Clive made a good strong protaganist along with good side characters, Cid and Joshua and the npcs. Jill on the other hand I found her character weak and bland, she didn't stand out much only for the fact that she was just there because of the story. The antagonists were strongly played and was fleshed out well. Great graphics and voice acting, story was intriguing and loved the twists with Eidolons and the Crystal.
The star rating deductions doesn't have to do with the case but the game.
