Slow at first, but gets better with each viewing

This show is quite close to my heart, as me and my friend both bonded over this series. The first arc is kinda slow, and filled with filler, but after the first 22 episodes, the story progresses quickly. Unfortunately for audiophiles, the Japanese recording is pretty rough, and the English dub only goes up to episode 36, but if you can look past those flaws, you can jump right into this series.

Worth your bucks if you like old school anime! Beware the first 36 episodes have an english dub, and only japanese openings/end credits! Super satisfied with this find!

Was very skeptical when I fist received my copy of the FOTNS series, due to the fact you will see it says SDBD(standard definition blue ray). After some research I convinced myself to open the packaging and watch a bit of it, based on what I saw I would have to agree with other reviews. 1. Only 480p resolution despite on a blue ray, this is to compile the whole series to very few discs as possible, we're talking 152 episodes here, to upscale to 720p or 1080p would make the quality much greater but the file sizes would be huge thus requiring many more blue ray discs, not to mention the cost to make all of it would be so much more and the retail cost as well. 2. Despite resolution loss, overall quality is not bad, definantly tolerable, my only real complaint is there is noticable noise/grain on the picture, I think the conversion to blue ray should have been better and kept the video more clean. 3. First 36 episodes can be in original english dub, the rest is in japanese, mainly due to the series never being completed in english back in the day. Overall, not a bad buy for as many episodes that you get, especially if your a fan of the series. Again I would have liked to see less noise in the video and in 720p(minimum) provided the price is too much more, but this is as good as it gets. Hopefully there is a digital download or something in the future with higher resolution, but one can only hope for now.
