Its like Big Brother is watching my diet and workout. You can even see incoming calls and text messages. Did I mention, you can set alarms.

I was toying with 3.5 stars or 4 so I decided to go with 4 has it works for what is meant to do but could do with some improvements.
I’m new to Fitbit, I Purchased a small and large Charge HR for my wife and I and we picked them up from Best Buy New Years eve.
I’m in my fifties but have been exercising with P90x, Insanity, home gym, treadmill, rowing machine, etc for a number of years so I’m quite fit.
I find the large band tight for my wrist. The band is made of soft rubber like martial so it’s not going to cut off circulation but I have it on the first notch and it quite tight, it does not move.
However I can still stretch it and put a finger underneath, It’s tight enough that it leaves an impression of the band on my wrist when I take it off to shower. I mention the tightness has I have not had issues with the heart rate readings.
Also whilst not trying to get too personal, I’m quite an hairy guy, so I tend to shave my arms and upper torso, maybe the shaved forearms are helping with the readings too.
I have a top of the range Polar HRM with strap, it’s does everything you can possibly think of with heart rate monitoring, even tells you the resting period between sets on weight training days.
I wore the Charge HR and Polar Strap together today, I did forty minutes of Insanity cardio workout, then walked on the treadmill for thirty minutes at a ten degree incline at 3.2 mph.
When I compare the Polar chest reading to the Charge they where within 5-7 beats per minutes. My max on the Polar was 181 and the Charge recorded 176, average on the Polar was 153 and 150 on the Charge HR.
So far I’m pleased, I wanted an “all” day monitor, the Polar desktop has better Heart Rate data readouts and graphs than Fitbits' free dashboard but I get the benefit of all day data and sleep data.
Was thinking about returning my large and waiting for the extra large Charge HR to become available however I’m now wondering after reading about all the HRM issue if the tight band is helping.
This is not a smart watch it’s a fitness band there is a big difference, I have a Samsung Gear 2, not the Gear Fit but the brown/bronze dress watch with the camera.
The Gear 2 is more a dress watch so I don’t want to wear it while exercising. The Gear 2 is a true "Smart Watch”, you can customize the clock, read / send email, text messages answer and makes calls all from the watch.
It has Samsung S health which is ok but not has informative has Fitbit, if you want a smart watch with some health info and have a compatible Samsung Phone then you can not go wrong with a Gear Fit, 2 or the new Solo.
If you seriously want to track all day health then the Fitbit is the right option, I wear my Fitbit all day I only take it off for showing.
For me tracking Heart Rate and Sleep was my primary reasons to buy and it’s small enough to wear all the time, I still wear my Gear 2 smart watch when I’m out and about because of the integration with my Note 4.
It’s never going to be has accurate as a chest monitor but it’s close enough for what I want, it uses your phone GPS to track running so you don’t have to buy one with a built in GPS.
Cons:
Sizing is off, my wives small is more like a child and we plan on returning and purchasing the large once their available again. I would like the XL but thats only online directly from Fitbit.
Bands should be changeable, this would fix the size issue and be able to swap out when grubby or for a style change.
It’s splash proof not water proof, you can not swim in it. I would like to see them make a water proof one for swimming.
None standard charge port which is common now, would like to see micro USB or even better wireless charging like the motor 360.
Charge cable to way to short, you will need a usb extension cable.
Battery does not last the advertised 5 days, I’m lucky to get 2.5 days, I top up the charge while swimming or showing.
All in all a great little device for the price with a few niggling things that stops it being a 5 star fitness band.

I'm already a "gym rat" but I really wanted something that would easily track steps, stairs and also heart rate. I didn't want to go too high end and this fit in perfectly. It monitors my steps, sleep, stairs, HR and even alerts me when i have phone call (which is so awesome). It's pretty accurate and the website allows for various charts to see how you do over the weeks and months. The FitBit app on the iPhone is a great compliment and since using this, I've increased my time on the treadmill so it has pushed me to work harder.
I do not have any skin irritation problems and I wear this constantly except when I charge it and I have pretty sensitive skin. It is not waterproof so you must take it off when you shower or will be in water. Only complaint is it has frozen twice on me while i was working out on the elliptical. In order to fix, you have to charge and hold down the button till it restarts itself. That annoyed me since I couldn't do it until I got home but other than that, no issues. It only comes with 1 charging cord and it has a special plug into the FitBit so be careful not to lose it!
If you are looking for a mid-level fitness tracker, this would be the one to buy.

I really liked my Fitbit Charge HR when I first bought it. I love the caller ID feature! It has saved me from missing a call or answering a call, for that matter! You will need a smart phone to use the caller ID feature. The Geek Squad helped me set mine up easy breezy. As well as the 3 replacements I've had since my initial purchase. The warranty is great if something happens to your FB. Until your 1 year anniversary occurs. I have had 3 replacements in a year and the current replacement has also broken. I get the small size and even it is strapped to the tightest setting. I don't know if that is what causes the bands to break or the purple cheap plastic piece that holds the charger in place to break, but every single one I've owned, has broken there. I have super glued them and bought myself some time, but that only works for a short while. FB would not honor a new FB for me and only offered a percentage discount towards the purchase of a brand new one. This watch is to be worn just about 24/7 with the exception of a shower, bath, swimming, snorkeling, water submersible activities, etc. So I expect that it should hold up to a lot of wear and tear type activities, frequent hand washing, sweating, labor intensive movement, etc. But it doesn't. 4 in a year?! I will never own another FitBit unless they improve the quality and durability of this watch. The rubber band is o.k., but it often gets pulled away from the main unit that houses the technology piece. Every single one I've owned have done this. I really hope they improve the quality in the future. To me, Fitbit has become a fad piece and I am probably going to transition to an iWatch.

Software is good / Band is bad

I like the way the Charge HR tracks your heart rate, sleep and obviously steps throughout the day. The software is easy and reports flawlessly to the mobile app and desktop application. The flaw with Fitbit is their bands are cheap and flimsy. The clasps on their other Fitbit models come loose quite often and people report losing them frequently. I thought with the new clasp that is more like a typical watch clasp would be better. The issue is if it breaks the Fitbit is garbage. That is exactly what happened. It couldn't be replaced and I've had to wait for a new one. Customer service came through but this design needs to be addressed..

I have had a few brands of trackers, and I think this one has been more accurate as far as step count and also heart rate. I do not know if the heart rate is perfect but is good enough for my purposes. I had a a Withings and that one tracks heart rate and blood oxygen. That was nice but very inconvenient to take the tracker off and put on your finger Everytime you want a heart rate. The Fitbit tracks your heart rate while it is on your arm and also no band around the chest needed. I have found the sleep tracker on the Fitbit to be pretty accurate also. I love getting an overview of my sleep and trying to improve. Fitbit is much better than the withings in this area because you do not have to manually put it in sleep mode - the Fitbit just knows! I could never remember to turn on the sleep tracker on the Withings.
I did not give five Stars because you have to charge the Fitbit HR with a proprietary charger. I imagine I will lose the charger or forget it at some point and have to replace. I haven't a good track record with chargers. I had a Misfit Shine. It ran on a watch battery and I loved that it lasted six months before you had to replace the battery. It was also waterproof (Fitbit is not), looked like jewelry and had flexibility to wear anywhere making it easy to track bicycle riding. (I have not been successful in tracking bicycling with Fitbit hr). Although I think that the Fitbit hr is more accurate and has a display versus lighted buttons to determine your progress for the day. Since accuracy is most important to me, I prefer the Fitbit hr. I also like challenging your friends on the app.

I can't say enough about this tracker. I originally had the Charge, but it kept falling off so I moved up to the Charge HR. The fact that it has a watch band as opposed to the click band the other had, makes it perfect. It keeps perfect track of my heart rate and it will keep track of a workout from start to finish. It really motivates me to get those steps in! The app that accompanies it is so easy to use and even lets me know how long I sleep, how restless I am and how long it actually takes me to fall asleep. I wear this all day, every day. It does need to be charged more often that the Charge, but only about every four days, and I charge it fully in about two hours. If I could buy this for every person I know, I would. It is that awesome.

Best Fitness Band I've owned

I've tested many fitness bands before buying the Fitbit Charge HR and while I liked the ones that I'd purchased before, this is by far the best I've owned.
The Fitbit Charge isn't the only strapless (chest strap) continuous heart rate monitor / fitness band on the market, but it is the smallest and lightest.
I've found it to be accurate and user friendly, with a good App user interface through IOS and Android platforms.
The good: affordable, lightweight, easy to use and set up, provides good statistical data, and it has a small profile.
The bad: not water resistant, other than being "splash resistant". Makes it harder to keep clean and fresh, since it's an extended use fitness band.
Overall rating - solid A. 4.5 out of 5

I bought this tracker for my wife after using the Charge myself. At the time she was using a jawbone but was having a hard time syncing and tracking steps and the companion app was not good, but she liked the Fitbit companion app and decided it was time to switch. The pros are that the syncing and tracking are great. We love the auto sleep tracking and the heart rate monitor, but the biggest pro is the simple display with caller id. The only con is the battery doesn't last as long and it will send you an email that your battery is low but the tracker won't warn you instead. The charge lasts a good three days if used with work out mode. Other than that it's a great product!

I have had my Charge HR for 2 days, so far I really like it. I really like the HR, which is why I upgraded. The "floors" will only count steps if actually climbing because it notes the changes in air pressure; therefore, you still have to put in your exercise if you are on a climbing simulator type machine. I have found the HR monitor to be accurate and I believe I am really going to like this feature. I found, so far (2 workouts), that I have pushed myself to work harder to get my heart rate in the zone. What I do not like is the look; to me it is not flattering. In fact, I preferred the sleekness of the my previous Fitbit. Also, it has left an "indention" in my arm which goes away after taking it off and leaving it off for about 10 minutes. I am not wearing the Fitbit tight, I can sip my finger in it, but it still has an indention where the HR monitor is on top. Having said that, I would still purchase this product again. Perhaps I should have gotten the plum, it may have been more stylish? (female user here). I like the watch addition. I do recommend this product. The call notification is great as well. If you are switching from a previous Fitbit, the transition is extremely easy! Just go to your app, click on Account on the bottom Right, then Set up New Fitbit Device! My alarms did not carry over, you have to login to the Fitbit on the computer to set that up. I would purchase this again!

I love Fitbits. This is actually my second one but I only replaced the first because after almost a year of use it stopped connecting to my phone. I love that I can track everything I do throughout the day. Including steps, sleep, calories burned, heart rate, stairs climbed, and I can log my food. My mom loved mine so much she got one and my brother now wants one as well. These are awesome products! They do need to be charged every few days but it's worth it. The Fitbit and the app let you know when it's battery is getting low. It is best to wear the Fitbit higher up on your wrist than a normal watch in order to get a better reading for your heart rate.
