Heart rate during workouts isn't accurate

I got the limited release version of this Fitbit and it works well if you only want to run for your workouts. I’ve had it for a little less than a week and because of the inaccurate heart rate tracking for workouts, I don’t think I want to keep it. I’d give it a 2.5 if I could, but since heart rate is pretty much the main feature for this product, I rounded down. What I really wanted this Fitbit for was to be able to see detailed stats about my heart rate during workouts, especially how it changes throughout the workout. I already had the Polar FT4 chest heart rate monitor, but it only gives me summary data for calories burned, average HR, and maximum HR. I’ve done four workouts and it was pretty accurate for running but not anything else I’ve done. My other workouts included cardio kickboxing, weightlifting, and rowing machine, and the heart rate data I got from the Fitbit was always less than what I saw on my chest HRM. HR during the workout was 75-85% of the chest HRM, and calories burned was only 45-60% for those three workouts (maybe they use different algorithms to calculate calories burned?). At times I was seeing 130 BPM on the Fitbit when I was around 188 with the chest HRM after a really intense cardio section. I’m pretty disappointed with it since I trust the chest monitor much more than the wrist one. Other than that, I think it’s a good activity tracker. I do like seeing my steps, resting HR, floors climbed, and sleep stats since this is my first activity tracker. Since I focus more on my workouts, I don’t really care much about the accuracy of those metrics – they seem close enough to me. The tracker isn’t uncomfortable, but it took about a day to get used to since I never wear bracelets or anything else on my wrists. The sizing does seem to run a little small. If in doubt of what size you should get, you should probably go for the larger size, especially since they recommend wearing it looser. Since my wrist is small and bony, the device looks bulky, but I'm sure any wrist HRM will look huge on me. I usually move it up and down my wrist quite a bit throughout the day because it tends to stick to my skin. I have a Windows Phone (Lumia Icon) and I haven’t had luck with syncing it with the phone app and I don’t get the caller ID feature. It doesn’t really matter to me since I can wait to get to a computer to sync and I rarely get phone calls. The battery life is nice since I was considering getting the Microsoft Band which only has two days. I started mine up on Tuesday afternoon, got a low battery notification on Friday morning, and started charging it early Saturday afternoon. I probably could’ve waited until the evening for it to die, so it looks like it’ll last about 4 days and some hours with one daily alarm and recording an hour-long workout every other day. It took about 1.5 hours to fully charge. I wish Fitbit would give you the option to get data from a chest strap HRM for workouts instead of having to rely on the wrist reading, but I doubt they’ll make it an option. I’m also skeptical of other wrist trackers being that accurate with heart rate, but I’ll let others comment on that. I’m thinking about getting rid of this Fitbit and opting for a more advanced chest HRM that will give me the stats I’m looking for.

I bought this for my Girlfriend and she loves being able to track her steps and how many calories she burns every day. The added HR is a must so you can get a more accurate count of calories burned.

Did a ton of research before buying this product, and was not disappointed when I received it. Only issue, the size small is made for a child and the large could be tighter; wish they invested in a 3rd size.

Tried a few different fitness bands. This HR Charge does it all. Would recommend to a friend. Have bought 3 more for my family members and they also love it. Easy to use and long charge. Happy with purchases.

Fitbit was an amazing purchase for me with my heart condition working out was a task, but I'm able to keep a average track of my heart rate and push myself to complete steps, exercise and more.

I have a few issues with this item, but giving it a 3 star based a few things. First, I have a small wrist and yes, I should have read the reviews a bit more closer, but I chose the small anyway. It's too small and I wear it on the last 3rd notch. Second, whatever the material the band is made with, it makes my wrist itch and break out with bumps. Here's my biggest issue with it. I took it off during a shower and put it back on after I dried off. I checked my step count for the day, and proceeded to put lotion. I did not take any steps during or after putting on lotion and it recorded all of my arm movements as steps. Here are the good things about it. I LOVE the app as it syncs with your Apple device or Android. There are a few quirks with the app as always, but I have worked around them, such as the water only allowing to put the highest amount of 50.7 ounces. I sometimes drink 64 oz in one sitting. But just log 32 oz twice. I like the food/calorie intake and how it looks up calories from a food item that you can type in. The sleep monitoring I am still playing with, I don't believe what it's saying yet and I want to compare to another app. Other than that, I am pleased with the purchase.

Bought the Fitbit Alta a week ago but didn't like the wristband was hard to close so exchanged for Fitbit charge HR it costs more money but worth it. The wristband is like a watch so it's easy to close and it monitors heart rate. I love knowing my steps, exercise, activity throughout the day...it keeps me motivated !

This was purchased for my daughter. She is already an active young lady, but this motivated her to get those 10,000 steps in each day! After 3 weeks, she is still wearing it daily.

10 days into using the Fitbit Charge HR, I am very happy with it. The iPhone had trouble syncing, so I called Fitbit, and customer service rep was very helpful and talked me through setup using the laptop app. After that, the iPhone app worked with no problem. Besides the activity and heart rate tracking, it is very handy to see on Fitbit screen who is calling when I have phone on silent. I recommend using a screen protector.

It's a great device that that has the minimalist look that I love. Double your fitbits battery time by turning off "all day sync". It still syncs with your phone but only when you launch the fitbit app. Buying my wife one for Xmas!

Purchased as a gift for my son. If you decide to go with the Fitbit, I would recommend the Heart Rate version. The unit seems to work as described.

Best price for the value compared to the apple watch and other competitors. It keeps track of heart rate and can take a beating while you are working out.

I purchased this fitbit March of 2016. I have run many 5k's wearing this fitbit. 1. it never synced easily, it would take up to 30 plus minutes to sync to my phone and frankly the settings were not user friendly. 2 I couldn't just turn my wrist to see the time, I had to shake my wrist or tap the face of the fitbit. and 3 this last 5k I did it got wet and a small amount of mud (which I quickly rinsed off and now it won't hold a charge. This is an expensive product that is made for exercise and sweat and water resistant. When I contacted the customer service department at Fitbit they told me it was a year old and out of warranty but I could get a discount on another one and purchase the extended warranty. Best Buy was great!!!! when I purchased it.

I recently upgraded from the Fitbit Flex to the Fitbit Charge HR. Love that you can see your steps, HR, calories burned, etc. instantly instead of having to go onto the app. Calculates my calories burned more efficiently. Planning on getting one for my sister for her birthday.

I really like tracking my activity, heart rate and sleep. The app and online information is great and is very intuitive. My only complaint is that my wrist gets kind of sweaty sometimes. I haven't worn a watch in probably 10 years since my phone could tell me the time, so it has taken some getting used to wearing it.

Got it for DW and expected Small to fit an average women's wrist. It fit too tight and I returned it to the store to order the larger size.
