I went to test out the Surge prior to purchase after failing to confirm online that the watch could track cycling. Though the fancy advertising showed a cyclist and other athletes doing their stuff, the specs failed to indicate specific workouts that it could track. In the end, it doesn't have the ability baked in. I am considering returning it until they update the firmware. It has the hardware to track it, if not accurately. Its a big miss by Fitbit.

The watch seems to be fairly accurate and it certainly has made me more aware of my activity level. The look of the watch is basic, a little too thick to wear with a long sleeve shirt, and it is monochrome. I appreciate the text and phone call notifications. Being able to reply to a text with the surge would be helpful. I've worn the watch steadily since I purchased it. Ive cut the grass, done some woodworking, and other similar tasks and the watch still looks as good as new.

I like my Fitbit Surge as it seems to be pretty accurate as far as mileage is concerned. I have noticed that it sometimes vibrates notifying me that I've reached 10,000 steps while I'm driving down the road. The watch is great, but I do wish that it showed the day and date.

Great device as it does everything, heart rate, steps taken, floors climbed, calories burned, sleep recorder and can filter between restful and non restful hours of sleep per night and even graphs hour by hour of "restlessness" or restful sleep. It also can be used to control music from a connected blue tooth player and u can get limited ability to text as well. Love it.

After owning the microsoft band and returning because I felt that it was uncomfortable I decided to give this a try and so far I am very happy. So far the heart rate monitor seems very accurate and the band is stacked with features that I have not tested out yet fully. The functions on this vs the basis peak seem to be a bit more in line so I would highly suggest the Surge over the basis peak (which does not have gps). The calorie burn seems a bit high but after reading fitbit's page it claims that it adjusts itself overtime...

Very good quality product no issues on getting connected with iPhone. I have tried all the options and work very well GPS for cycling, spinning and music control and works very well. Receive Text and Call messages in the watch is a very good tool. You can track your trails without your phone but if you like to listen music then the GPS is worthless because you will use your phone to listen music and to track your trails Other detail is a high cost device.

I read a lot of reviews on this item and many of them commented on the rash that these trackers can cause on your wrist. When I first began using the Surge I placed it in the recommended position (above the wrist) and tightened the band enough to keep it there. Sure enough...I had a rash on my wrist within two days of use. HOWEVER, I simply decided to wear it how I always wear a watch and loosened the strap to let it sit naturally bellow my wrist and the rash was gone before long. I'd heard of people adding moleskin stickies to the band to resolve the problem, but I found that wearing the watch normally (not too tight) was enough to resolve the problem. Furthermore I've not noticed any real difference in heart rate readings between recommend and comfortable positioning. My advice is to just wear it however is most comfortable and it works just fine. Although, I will admit to tightening and re-positioning the watch for "optimal" function when actually going for a run. If you're looking for a device that will encourage you to get a few extra miles (or a few thousand extra steps) in, this may be the device for you. I find myself compelled to go out for a run if I haven't yet felt the 10k step vibration. Also, the one time I have used the GPS for a run it found satellites nearly instantly. Based upon what I'd read I anticipated a small wait, but was pleasantly surprised. I believe the firmware has seen a few updates to address this delay and the accuracy concerns some complained about at launch. Overall I am very satisfied. I have never regretted the purchase of my Surge and would certainly recommend it to those looking for a fitness tracker.

I like the watch. I was nervous about the size at first as I have smaller wrists, but this does not look at all bulky. It provides a ton of information, now to just learn how to apply it to healthy living. Battery is supposed to last 5 days, but it goes to low after 2. If you do not use it for anything other than a watch, it might last 5 days, but asking it to sync with bluetooth, start GPS, actually using it, and you will need to charge it every 2 days. Highly recommend getting an extra charging cable directly from fitbit too. Don't bother with other internet sites, their cables will work, but you have to tinker with the attachment, and set the watch down very gently to ensure you do not lose the connection.

I upgraded from the Charge HR. I like the built in GPS for tracking free runs and mountain bike rides. I took one star only due to its size - a bit large and I wish it was a bit smaller. It does the job - motivates me to exercise and track what I do!

I did a ton of research before actually buying a fitness watch but very happy with the surge. The GPS is very accurate for my bikes and runs and the Bluetooth notification to my phone allow me to never miss anything. The watch is great to sync with the myfitnesspal app to keep updated on how many calories you have burned throughout the day and where you stand for calories in vs calories burned if trying to loose weight or tone up

I have been favorably impressed with the accuracy and flexibility of the FitBit Surge for tracking steps, fitness activities, and sleep behaviors. The web site that FitBit offers for reviewing information synced from the Surge has some bright spots (calorie, sleep tracking, overall graphing of synced data), and some frustrating limitations (correcting/editing exercise activity start/end times). Overall an excellent aid for me.

Overall this is a neat device and cold be a great one but it's just not there yet! I personally like the unit it keeps good time and the gps is a huge plus! It works well without having to have your phone right next to you or out on your run! This in my mind is the whole point of a smart fitness/watch! The drawback is price there are cheaper units available that do similar task not to the extent but enough that it makes this a convenient tool rather then a needed tool. The heart rate monitor I do not know much about it other then it' works well enough just not great. Overall I do like it the main reason is the being able to leave my phone behind or on the desk while I work or run.

I have had the Surge watch a month & it is great. I got it for the GPS and the heart rate monitor beside the step tracker. I like the different exercises that can be tracked. Additionally when you use the Fitbit app you can challenge friends & family, which is a great motivator. I have lost 12lbs already. Great product and app

Enjoy this product. Easy setup and use. Clock face is a little dim. Would like to be able to adjust brightness vs on off option. Heart Rate works well and is accurate if worn correctly. Like the Fitbit software. Easy to use and understand.

I love my fitbit surge. I love the fact I can set it to my workout. Not everyone is the same nor do they workout the same that is why me and my friend both love it.. She has hers set for her runs and bike I have mine for weights kickboxing and running. It has everything you love except swimming. It is not water proof. .

I can definitely say this product lives up to it name of "fitness super watch"...love the new exercise quick menus, the ability to control music without looking at the phone and onboard GPS. I would like to see additional music controls...a back function. Additionally, some verbal call outs when running like the app does...it might be already there I just couldn't find it.

I purchased this product for my father-in-law who isn't completely technically inclined. We were a little nervous with all the options that are available on this watch as to its complexity, but with the auto mode this isn't an issue. It really is as simple as wear, do your daily routine then check the app. Very easy to use. The biggest downside is that the watch isn't waterproof so you can't wear it for swimming. Needs to be a version for swimming activities. The display is lacking quality but that's just a small issue that shouldn't deter purchasing. The app to download along with the product is very detailed and really recommend looking through that as opposed to monitoring on your phone. The app gives lots of motivational goals that really do add a huge benefit to this product.

I went from a Bodymedia arm band to the Fitbit Surge. I loved my Bodymedia. It was linked to a Bodymedia watch and i had instant analysis of my day's activity. The only thing that it lacked was a heart rate monitor, so as soon as the Surge was released I purchased it. I really like the Surge, but find that its accuracy for step count is not nearly as accurate as my Bodymedia armband, some of my sedentary time is counted toward steps and it shouldn't be. I think that it is much more sensitive to movement than it should be. I do, however, like that it will count my stationary bike activity based on activity selection and heart rate, which the Bodymedia did not. An added bonus is I also like getting alerts for my cell phone calls and text messages. If my phone's ringer is off, I don't miss a call or text.
