Customers admire the Zip Wireless Activity Tracker's ease of use, small size, and accurate step tracking capabilities. Many appreciate its motivational features and find it reasonably priced. However, some users point to inconsistent battery life and a display that can be difficult to read as drawbacks. The limited feature set compared to more expensive models is also a recurring concern.

Bought this for my mother so that she could see all the steps she takes throughout her day. Excellent way to keep track of movement and, when used with the fitbit app, can give a nice comprehensive report of your week's steps. The fitbit app makes it a much more useful and fun tool.

Easy and simple to you, whether you use the phone app or not. I was debating between the Zip and the Flex, I do wish I splurged and got the flex since the Zip does not seem to calculate stairs.

Very good, Wrong battery indicator

This device is excellent, the only downside I have noticed so far is that the battery life indicator doesn't seem to be very accurate, several times already the battery indicator has told me battery was almost depleted just to show "full" status the next day, this is perhaps why so many people here have reported low life battery issues, yesterday I even got a low battery level e-mail, but today it's showing full again? not sure if it is reporting an erroneous full status or the other way around actually, time will tell.
All other aspects of the device work as expected, it is very accurate when it comes to counting steps, it tells you steps, distance, calories and the time it is. it doesn't look cheaply made and even the package gives it a premium feel when you first open it, and it comes with a cover which is also the belt clip at the same time.
it is also very small in size, so I would suggest putting it on your pocket, even though it has a clip it could be easily lost.

This was a gift but she told me she loved it. She didn't want something to wear on her wrist. Small enough to just clip on her belt buckle or arm band.

We purchased 10 of these for employees. Units themselves easy to use, but some online features never quite work (for instance, only 2 of the 10 have been able to successfully upload profile pic). We also had been told we could do different challenges via FitBit, but that didn't pan out, so we had to create and handle our own. Biggest issue is battery life. Within 1 month, 1 unit died. Within 2 months, 4 more died. I contacted manufacturer after 2nd one failed (we exchanged 1st at BestBuy). They said we all needed to upgrade to latest version of software -- those who did saw their batteries quickly die. After numerous emails, they finally mailed us 5 replacement batteries. Not a huge expense, but for cost of the units, we expected better than typical pedometer. Apparently the higher end Fitbits are re-chargeable.

I have had the Fitbit Zip since August 2014 and it has never let me down. I track steps, and it loads to my phone! Great device.

I liked it's size. Much better than having a bracelet around the wrist all the time, which many people do not like.

I love My Fitbit Zip. It seems like a lot of money to spend on a step counter but once you download the app and start tracking your food and water intake, etc., connecting with friends to root each other on it becomes a very worthwhile purchase. I already own this one but bought another for my friend for Christmas.

Good device. Mediocre "cradle"
Posted .

Got this for my wife because she liked the idea of the step-tracker and whatnot. Problem is, she popped it in the cradle and on the one occasion she neglected to wear it on the inside of her pocket, it popped out of the cradle and has subsequently disappeared. I'm confident we'll find it one of these days, but it's of no help at the moment.
While she had it, the device worked great. It was largely unnoticeable in her pocket, and she felt it was reasonable accurate in tracking her steps. So again, only criticism is that the "cradle" should be more of a pocket around the device itself. That way, wearing it in or outside the pocket of your pants wouldn't matter as much and it wouldn't be as likely to fall out of the cradle. Anyhow, maybe your experience will be different in that regard. I recommend the device, just be careful with how you're wearing it.

This was my first Fitbit years ago. Then I got a Fitbit One (very happy with it) and gave the Zip to my wife. Then I got a Fitbit HR about 18 months ago for the heart monitoring. Had to give the Fitbit One to the wife (she lost the Zip). Sorry to say, the Fitbit HR is not very accurate on the steps, so I wasn't completely satisfied (works great on heart monitoring, stairs, etc, just not on the steps). So BestBuy had a sale on the two pack of the zip and I ordered it. I have been comparing the steps on the HR and the Zip and the HR is consistently about 15% low. I check it by walking on my treadmill for 45 minutes and then compare. I think it probably has something to do with the positioning (arm versus pocket) and measures the arm movement instead of the legs. I would give the HR 4.5 stars (I got it mainly for the heart monitor and my doctor checks it on each visit) and the One and Zip 5 stars. I will put the HR in my pocket with the Zip and my wife's One and compare the three.

This thing is really good for tracking your steps if that's what you want. You just wear it and it works. It's tough too. I washed it by mistake AND dried it. It didn't hurt it a bit.

. I had purchased this as a replacement for the original fitbit that died after 18 months of use. i just returned this after having it for a week of using it. It's not as comfortable as the original. I had a hard time getting the screens to change to the different stats and if it's dark you can't see the information on the screen. If there was a way to get it to light up, I never found it. It's not as discreet as the original. I like to wear it on my bra cup. The stats seemed to be accurate. For the price, this wasn't a bad deal. I think I was just spoiled by having the original fitbit for so long. So I decided to wait for the upgraded version that is coming out later this month.

I bought my fitbit about two months ago and I love it. It does what it is suppose to do. I can track every step I take and know when Im lacking and when Im doing great. I love the encouragement when Im on track. I have earned badges and that's great as well. I needed this years ago. I have lost 10 pounds. I connected it to my tablet and phone and it works great. The only thing about it is that it's small and sometimes I forget to take it off of my clothing and I hate not having it on me. This is great for anyone trying to lose weight. Tracking my food and water intake is a eye opener.

Great but batteries need to be replaced often. I've had my Zip for over a year now. It has helped me lose weight and track my meals and exercises. The only issue I have had is the battery keeps dying after a few months. I had to keep replacing the batteries. I eventually bought another one and this one is working better, But I imagine later down the line it may have the same issues.

I bought the fitbit zip with not too much research. I was unsure of which fitbit tracker would be the best for me, and decided to try it out at the lowest price. I was pleasantly surprised by the ease of use and ability to wirelessly sync. I have since done more research and have decided to keep the zip for now, and possibly get the force after it's release. This is a great beginner's fitness tracker.
