Customers are saying

Customers admire the Zip Wireless Activity Tracker's ease of use, small size, and accurate step tracking capabilities. Many appreciate its motivational features and find it reasonably priced. However, some users point to inconsistent battery life and a display that can be difficult to read as drawbacks. The limited feature set compared to more expensive models is also a recurring concern.

    Works as advertised

The FitBit Tracker works exactly as advertised. Once you set it up, there's really nothing more to do -- it just works. As long as you don't forget to put it on, you'll have automatic tracking. The tracking seems to be fairly accurate, although it's hard to tell for sure; my wife and I recently went on a trip where we were together the entire day, walking the same places, and it gave me credit for ~2,000 more steps, which seemed a bit much. But she clips hers to her bra while I wear mine in my pocket, so this might explain the difference. The only drawback I can think of is that the desktop software (whose only purpose is to sync the tracker) comes up with a window every time you start the computer. It gives the option to show it in the system tray or not, but that doesn't change the fact that the (needless) window displays every time.

I wore out my original fitbit and decided to try the zip. I only kept it for a week. If you can't afford the higher end models, I suggest getting this but if you can, pay the difference and get the better model. Pro's: The price is very reasonable. It's designed to do pretty much most of what the other models do. Cool colors to pick from. Cons: It was tedious going from one screen to the next to view your stats. It was supposed to take a tap but I was afraid of breaking it because it was taking several attempts to get to just the next screen. There was no back light that I could find to view in the dark. I didn't find it as comfortable to wear on my bra as I had the previous model that I had. I didn't like that it didn't have a rechargeable battery.

I love my fitbit! It tracks my steps, lets me know the time and makes faces at me. I didn't realize how fun I would find the faces. It automatically uploads information to my account when I'm close enough to my computer and sends me weekly progress reports.

My husband and I both have one of these trackers. My zip recently was not working correctly and i thought i should upgrade and get something bigger and better. I did and after 24 hrs i was returning it. I do not like having to wear something on my wrist constantly. Also it clashes with my nice jewelry. I do wish that it had the sleep tracker, but honestly, I know when i didn't get enough sleep and i don't need a tracker to tell me so. Also i really love that i do not have to charge this ever. A watch battery is cheap and goes for months. Also the Dollar Store has batteries for a buck if you don't want to spend three. Although i wish it did a few other things, not charging it and not having it on my wrist is most important. We recommend!!!

Not very accurate, clipped to my bra or pocket

I've had my Zip for over a month now. It's a toss-up if it will record steps each day. The syncing is all over the place-- with the unit sometimes subtracting steps. I think this purchase was a waste of money.

Love this tracker! I work with my hands, so wrist-type trackers always counted steps when there were none. This one I clip to my pocket or shirt and it is more accurate than a wrist tracker.

I purchased the two pack. I love the clip for the pants but the fitbit can easily get flicked off. One fitbit broke the second it hit the floor and the second one needed to have the battery replaced before I expected it to run out. It is great to keep you on track so may be worth the $. Going to try the wrist band one next.

So far, this device has helped me to lose 5 pounds. It motivates me to walk more throughout the day. Now that I have it, my average amount of miles walked in a day is 10!! Before it was probably 3.

I bought this as a Christmas gift for my wife. She uses it every day for running and general activity tracking. She has had no issues with it and it functions exactly as described.

My wife and I needed a tracker to count our steps and these are the perfect units to do just that. Small and easy to place in you pocket, on a belt or in your shoe.

I use this for counting steps and it's great! It's small, so I can wear it without anyone noticing I have it on. I've also downloaded the free iPhone app to use with it.

Firstly, this item does not count calories correctly, In addition,I would have been better off remembering that 10,000 steps is 5 miles and just register my progress at the gym and guestimate the rest. This device measures steps but does not record my progress on the bike or even doing a step in place walking program (Leslie Samson) at home. So inaccurate and way too pricey.

    Too Many Defects

I had to replace this device once within 30 days of purchase because it would just stop working. The next one would hold a battery charge for only 3 weeks (they're supposed to last 6 months to a year#. After a few months of this I contacted FitBit Support and they sent me a link to an Imgur video tutorial where some of the internal contacts have to fit just right. I'm buying a new battery AGAIN #I've gone through 5 so far) to see if the Zip will hold a charge beyond 3 weeks. The jury is still out on whether this is a permanent fix or whether I need to get it replaced AGAIN. This is the first activity tracker I've worn, so I really can't say one brand is better than another. I'm not opposed to buying another brand and system and seeing which one is more reliable. Sadly, the FitBit has not proven itself to be reliable.
