    If David Cronenberg hadn't come along in '86 this would be the best version of "The Fly." Still worth checking out.

    THIS ORIGINAL 1958 RELEASE OF 'THE FLY' IS UNIQUE FOR ITS TIME AND REMAINS THE CLASSIC VERSION OF THE STORY OF A SCIENTIST EXPERIMENTING WITH 'TELEPORTING' THAT, UNKNOWINGLY, HAS A HITCHHIKER IN HIS EXPERIMENT AS A COMMON HOUSE FLY ENTERS HIS TELEPORT CHAMBER AT THE MOMENT HE STARTS TO TRANSPORT HIS BODY TO THE RECEIVING CHAMBER ACROSS THE ROOM. THE RESULTS ARE A PHENOMENON THAT HE TRIES TO REVERSE WITHOUT SUCCESS. THE STORY-LINE IS SIMILAR TO THE 1986 RE-MAKE BUT WITHOUT THE 'HORROR AND GROSSNESS' USED IN THE RE-MAKE. BOTH ARE EXCELLENT TALES AND CHOOSING YOUR 'FAVORITE' VERSION CAN BE DIFFICULT, AS I LEARNED. MY SOLUTION . . . I BOUGHT BOTH FOR MY COLLECTION AND NOW CAN ENJOY BOTH, EQUALLY AS WELL, IN THEIR OWN RIGHT.
