Great for movie lovers of horror and old time movies!

Looks superb on 4k. Never looked better! Deep blacks.

What more can be said about James Whale's classic 1931 adaptation of Frankenstein that hasn't already been said? If you've seen it, you probably love it. If you haven't seen it... well, what are you waiting for? The only thing you really need to know is whether or not the technical specs of the Blu-ray edition are worthy, and I must say, they definitely are. The audio is about what you'd expect from a film from 1931, that is to say there are no fancy surround-sound effects - in fact, the sound design here is rather sparse, but the presentation on the disc is solid but not mind-blowing. The video presentation however is exquisite - I never imagined that a film that is almost 85 years old could look this stunning. The disc also contains a nice selection of bonus features, including making-of featurettes, trailers, a restoration featurette and a pair of audio commentaries. The bottom line is, Frankenstein is an essential piece of horror cinema history... BUY IT! I recommend you also pick up the even-better sequel, The Bride of Frankenstein, while you're at it.

The classic 'monster' movie. No need for a movie review as it is has a permanent place in popular culture. It probably hasn't looked this good since it first appeared in theaters. It just looks excellent in 4k. The 1080 blu-ray looks very good. The 4k looks even better. If you are a fan of the movie, or movies in general, you are sure to enjoy this edition of Frankenstein.

I purchased this more as a collectible (I'm awaiting the 4K release in standard cases for viewing). While I'm a bit disappointed that they essentially reused the artwork from the Legacy set packaging, I have to say the artwork pops much more in hand on this steelbook than it did on the previous release. I also appreciate the pose they chose for the front image on these mimics the pose on the old Aurora model kits.

Frankenstein is my favorite of the classic Universal monster movies. I think it may also be the best, slightly beating out it's sequel and Dracula. But if you're looking for an exclusive steelbook of the film, you likely love the movie, too. From an A/V standpoint, this is solid. Because of the age of the print, it's obvious that this isn't going to look or sound like something released last week. However, the contrast really helps the black and white photography and the mono soundtrack remains fitting. I think, though, that the basic look of the steelbook matches the film itself. Straight to the point, with that incredible photo of Karloff's monster lurching out of the darkness and fog, this is worth the purchase.

I watched this movie on blu ray and it was like seeing the movie for the first time. Universal did a great job of cleaning up this movie and the quality of the picture and sound was wonderful for an 85 year old film. I first saw this movie on TV when I was a young boy and it scared me to death. I had nightmares about the Frankenstein Monster being trapped in the burning mill and I never forgot his screams of terror. If you have never seen the original I highly recommend you watch it on blu ray. Boris Karloff played the Frankenstein Monster and it made his career in horror films. Watch it for American Film History by Universal Studios.

Beautiful movie stunning 4k and Steelbook arrived undamaged thankfully in a box and not thin mailer! Best buy please use BOX for all steelbooks. I only get them boxed if i order more than one movie i think just one steelbook should come in cardboard box.

Absolutely gorgeous imagery on outside covers as well as inside. Great menus with tons of special features. I owned this on VHS, DVD, Blu ray and this 4K is stunning. If you are a fan of the classic Universal Studios monsters...get this!!

Yes finally got almost the whole universal horror monster series only if I saw the mummy and creature of the black lagoon in 4K it would be great but nothing yet but these films are amazing if your a horror fan these movies are great

CLASSIC ! this is truly one of the best Frankenstein movies out there. If you haven’t watched what what are you waiting for? You need to add this movie to your collection.

I love the artwork on this steelbook, its such a beautiful image. You can never go wrong with Alex Ross artwork and that paired with a steelbook is a perfect combination. Plus it comes with a nice clear slipcover which is something I wish more steenboks came with. It's just a great edition for an all time horror classic

Once again, Universal kills it (pun intended) with their steelbook movie releases. This one has a digital copy which should be redeemed right away or gifted to a friend/close one. As the title to this review suggests, I think this is the definitive Frankenstein movie. Pre-teens and up can see it.

The Alex Ross artwork is beautiful. I'm not sure what to say about the film that hasn't already been said but it's a fantastic classic that is a must watch for any horror film enthusiasts. Definitely check out the other Alex Ross steelbooks and get em while you can! Beautiful additions to any collection.

Great movie - a classic. Boris Karloff gives a great performance as the monster. Has great special features. I only watched the Blu-ray disc. I had no trouble downloading the digital copy.

“Frankenstein” remains one of the greatest horror films of early sound cinema, and this gorgeous Steelbook is a great way to celebrate it for first-time viewers or many-time fans, alike. The Steelbook is beautifully illustrated and has a nice interior. Highly recommend.
