I saw the trailer for this movie a while back and forgot about it; however, when I saw Matthew in a TV commercial I was reminded of this movie, which I had wanted to see for a while now. I bought it on sale and am glad I did. It cam be slow at times, but this movie is also intense at the same time. Very good pick.

I saw the previews of this movie which captured my attention, so I bought the blue-ray. I like movies set in the 1800's to Old West period, and this movie was based on a true story during the Civil War days. I had never heard of this "incident" in history. The movie was good, and it did keep my attention.

I really enjoyed this movie. It dealt with the Civil War. It also dealt with the treatment of blacks after the war, after the emancipation,and after given the right to vote. It also touched briefly on Mississippi segregation laws during the 1950's. This movie was set during the later half of the 1800's.

The trailers were a little misleading for me. They made it seem like it was a civil war movie. Though, while there were some war scenes, the majority of the movie was about racial issues during that time. I would have to say it was still a good movie.

I like movies that reveal a great history lesson. This movie tells about a time that I wasn't aware with or never taught in history class in high school. To the director, keep making movies telling unknown stories that hid racial secrets.

I really enjoyed this film movie. You can learn more about history. Uplifting untold true story that makes you stronger and wanting to do something in life and make a difference. Call some friends and family, sit back and enjoy this great true story.

First learned of the "Kingdom of Jones" through Ken Burns Civil War series and Shelby Foote's classical three volume history of the Civil War. Good movie summary. I want to learn more about this subject after having watched the movie.

I felt the movie was entertaining throughout. I enjoyed the significance of the era and the purpose for the revolt. Matthew McConaughey was excellent in the movie. The movie just did not go far enough to describe the time and the fighting.

This movie has an interesting plot and it is important to see a man standing up for his beliefs and doing what is fair. I enjoyed this movie and it kept my interest throughout. The story is powerful and cool!

Was a great stand alone movie but when ya tie in the true story part ya start to question your oun beliefs and realize how sad we were as a country during that time. Love the story in a story part like a complex movie this is for you.

Great movie a must see. One of the best I have seen all year. Great acting drama and action. Mathew looks his old self again. The story line is great a bit of history you don't learn about in school. If you watch any movie this year this is the one to see.

My mother wanted me to see this movie with her, wasn't really into it by cover - thinking it would be the same plot different title, but this one was pretty good. Kept my attention and liked it so much I had to purchase it!

Good movie that is a little slow. Loved the historical aspects which were relatively accurate compared to most period movies. Not much action in this movie which surprised me but it made up for it with good drama.

An excellent American civil war historical action movie. Based on fact and real characters covering events in Mississippi during the civil war and during reconstruction.

Great movie, i really enjoyed it. Although don't watch it with a new puppy that constantly distracts you. Even with all the interruptions, I still thoroughly enjoyed the movie. Entertaining and educational.

This was a very moving movie. It was inspiring and it shows the strength of the American Spirit. The movies also depicted a willingness to work together despite race, based only on need and common circumstance. Really class A movie.

Based on a true story this film covers a small piece of our American history in an at times unflattering and unflinching look into us as a species. The film is well made, the story well told with solid production and a strong cast.

Matthew McConaughey turns in another stellar performance...almost makes How to lose a guy in ten days forgivable. The story is riveting and the cast is well put together but it is a bit slow at times.
