Its an old throw back movie but its really good.Funny in parts sad in others but entertaining all the way through!

Set during the American Civil War, the story follows a Quaker family's morals conflicts with both innate human nature and the external culture. Rather than getting all preachy, this is handled with really charming comedy, until the war comes home. I cannot watch this without getting a lump in my throat seeing these wholesome, peaceful people brought so near disaster. The tapestry of characters and vignettes is more than ably handled. I'd need twenty paragraphs to describe it all. A movie so rich, it can be watched many times.

Light-hearted, family-friendly film. Touches on civil war and how it effected the peace loving Quakers if that era. Shows a side of these anti-violent christians not typical of them and makes them and their strong faith more believable.

This movie was always on TV around Thanksgiving when I was little. Even though this story is about a Quaker family at the time of the Civil War, it is still great at Thanksgiving. The Pilgrims had the same struggle, wanting religious freedom and living peace.

This has always been a favorite of mine. I remember seeing it at the theater. Once movies came out on vhs and then dvd, I started looking for it. I was thrilled to find it and immediately ordered it.

Wonderful movie back to basic family values. Lovely theme.

Classic and unusual look at the Civil War through the eyes and of a supposed pacifist. Great story

Wyler’s only Palme d’Or winner on a solid quality DVD. Cooper is exceptional in the lead.

My father raves about this movie. He just loves it so much that I thought I would get him a copy for himself.
