Bought this unit a month ago based on high recommendation from CR and found lowest price at Best Buy. I can simply say that it has been doing a great job of reducing the humidity in our very large unfinished basement. The unit is not as quiet as I was expecting based on reviews, but it is not loud either. Would recommend to anyone!

This is about the only brand that they keep at the stores and I can see why as its a good dehumidifier that pulls a lot of water out of the air as advertised and is much less noisy and more power efficient than my old units. One note is that in the appliance department at your local BBuy they often had a store/department coupon they can scan to take 20% more off the price. With the store coupon I was able to get it for under $200.

We were looking for an Energy Star rated dehumidifier for our basement. This fit the bill perfectly. Quiet and thermostatically controlled, it removes excess moisture.

I've been using this dehumidifier for about a month and thus far it is performing very well. It runs quieter than most previous units that I've owned and I love the 70 pint capacity. The bucket is fairly easy to empty and the controls are user-friendly. If you want a reasonably priced dehumidifier from a trusted company that provides a better warranty than most others out there (5 years sealed system), then look no further.

I've never had a dehumidifier that was this quiet. It is also very efficient; it didn't take very long, after first starting it, to reduce the humidity to 40%.

I purchased the Frigidaire FAD704DWD 70-pint dehumidifier to replace an old Westinghouse that lasted close to 20 years without a hitch, until the motor finally gave out. After researching various consumer-driven reviews, I settled on this Frigidaire unit and am very pleased with my decision. It's lightweight, energy efficient and features very nice soft touch controls. I really appreciate the ability to connect a garden hose to the back for draining so I don;t have to empty the evaporator container. The filter is easily accessed and cleaned to prevent mold and the accompanying unpleasant odor. I would give this unit a 5-Star rating if not for my slight disappointment in how loud the fan/motor is, which seems to be exacerbated by minor vibrations in the unit's chassis. Other than that, I am very satisfied with this purchase and recommend the unit for its value and function.

Easy to set up and use. Easy conversion for drain hose usage. Relatively quiet and does move air well in the basement. Set for 35 % and it stays there!! Great unit.

Quieter than previous dehumidifiers I have owned. The reservoir is easy to remove and empty. I researched all dehumidifiers on the market and felt Frigidare was the best. This dehumidfier was not a stocked item at any store I contacted.I chose Best Buy because of the great service I get and was able to use gift cards I purchased locally towards reducing my gasoline costs. My dehumidifier showed up at my Best Buy store sooner than the orginial delivery date. Very pleased!

So Far, So Good. I've owned this for approximately 2 months and have used it once every few days, running it till the bucket became full. I use it in a finished basement that also has an A/C unit so I haven't needed to rely only on this unit. It has done it's job as would be expected. I find it noisy, even on low, but seems to be just as noisy as other units I have owned. I do have to say that this is by far the best looking dehumidifier I've seen. A much more modern take on your "Dad's old dehumidifier". I agree 100 percent that you MUST purchase an extended warranty. The previous dehumidifier I purchased (GE from a big-box store) at around the same price point died on me after 2 years. I had not purchased an extended warranty so I lost out. I do tend to move the unit around from room to room in the basement, and I also store it when the weather allows. Not sure if this makes a difference or not. I am on my second unit as the first one I purchased, and had shipped to the store, was damaged. The top of the basket was cracked. Had the warranty so it wasn't a problem. Geeks had to order me a new one, took about a week, since they had none in the store. Overall this seems to be a good unit and seems to be functioning well. Also keep in mind that while 46 pounds doesn't seem too bad its in an awkward shape. It comes in a large box and most of the weight is toward the bottom where the compressor is and you don't want to bang it around (like going up stairs) as you could damage it. I do believe the warranty is very important and will most likely be purchasing warranties from now on whenever I purchase electronics. Seems like times are changing and things are being produced at a high volume, at a high rate, and as cheaply as possible. You may want to check your unit thoroughly before leaving the store as it is rather heavy and a pain to lug back and forth if need be. BESTBUY was great when I informed them of the damage. They saw I had purchased the warranty and asked me what I would like to do. Even offering to replace the unit with something they had available in stock.

Dehumidifier does a good job. It draws so much moisture out of the air we empty it almost every day. Also pretty quiet when it runs.

When we bought our home 6 years ago, it came with a dehumidifier that pretty much ran non-stop since it was purchased in the early 1970s. Yes, really, - the previous owners actually left us the instruction manual & receipts! When it finally died, we were happy to buy this more energy-efficient unit & so far, it's worked great. It doesn't have to run non-stop, is quieter, prettier (not like that really matters in our unfinished basement) lighter-weight, and drains directly into the floor drain via the hose, rather than just draining across the floor. The musty smell that had begun when the old one quit was gone within a few hours & we've been happy with it's performance over the past month. Having to clean the filter every 2 weeks seems a bit excessive, but it's not hard to do, just hard to remember to do. I couldn't tell if I was actually rinsing stuff off of the filter or just getting it wet.... it didn't appear to have any debris or gunk on it.

I bought this dehumidified to replace an older noisy unit. Not only was it much quieter, but in the same 2-3 hours it removed more than 3 times as much water from the air! Helpful features include a timer, a humidity set point, a connection on the back to attach a hose (so you don't have to keep emptying the tank), and a little red ball in the tank that makes it easy to see when the tank needs to be emptied. Hopefully this will last for many years bit so far this model gets high marks.

Does a great job removing humidity in Southern Florida. It’s a beast. Slightly loud but not for this size. I have a smaller one that’s another brand and it’s just as loud. Looked at all the reviews this had the quietest rating for its size.

Have had issues with our basement for the 10+ years that we've been in this house. A couple of years ago, had a drainage system installed, but still had significant dampness. Ran a DH in the past, but always had issues with the bucket filling up too fast. The drain option on this model addressed that, although we did have to buy a separate hose, and it was a bit of a pain to install. Had to fool around with the position of the unit and the length of the hose, because if would not drain through the slightest little uphill bend or kink in the hose. Once we got the "kinks" worked out, the basement is noticeably better. Humidity dropped from 75+ to a steady 45-50%. Read warnings about how much electric these units use - all of them , not just this one - and I guess I didn't really believe them (or care). But we're definitely looking at $40-50 month increase. Yikes!

dried out my basement in 2-3 days and keeps it dry. Also very quiet, I cannot hear it running from upstairs.
