Circuit board(s) failed after a year and a half
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought a Frigidaire Affinity set like this one, new, about a year and a half ago at a different local retailer. I exchanged a Whirlpool Duet for the Affinity set after discovering that the Duet machines were too deep to fit in my very small (older construction) laundry closet and be able to close the closet door. I have the dryer on top of the washer and it's attached via a stacking kit. I'm not sure of the exact vintage of my Frigidaire set, but it's very late model and looks similar to this except that it has silver-tone plastic instead of white plastic door frames. At first it worked pretty well. I just noticed very minor issues like the spin cycle not completing on occasion due to being out of balance when I have delicate bags in there without enough loose articles. I'd describe my usage as light. I've used the machine maybe 60 times since I bought it. I always air it out and follow the instructions to extend its life. I've taken very good care of it. A few months after the one-year warranty expired, and about a week after my last load of laundry, I heard beeping sounds coming from the closet. I discovered that the washer (even though it was idle# was not only beeping but also blinking - all or most of the indicator lights and the interior light were flashing on and off simultaneously. Not at regular intervals but very randomly. Occasionally, it also made clicking sounds like it would normally do between cycles. I tried to reset the control panel by holding Start and Pause. It stopped. I walked away, and the beeping and blinking started again. I tried unplugging it, but when I plugged it back in, once again it started acting possessed. I called Frigidaire and got the local authorized repair agency's number. Upon the estimate visit, the repair person said it displayed error code E91, which indicates at least one #possibly two# of the three circuit boards. It will cost about two thirds of what I paid for the washer to fix it, and they have to pull out the entire unit to access even the front circuit board #a piece that goes across the top and attaches in the back must be removed to access the front control panel - a very strange design choice#. The repair person said these Affinity washers fail all the time. He even suggested that I could easily sell the set and suggested I go back to the Duet set because those rarely have any problems. So, once I get this set fixed, I'll probably modify the laundry closet #build it out into my hallway, which is going to look really weird), and buy a Duet set. And the next time I have to buy a major appliance, I'm calling a repair center before I commit. I'm very disappointed in this purchase and in Electrolux, which owns Frigidaire. In fact, a friend has a late-model Electrolux fridge that, like my washer, failed after about a year. Perhaps their machines are designed to a planned obsolescence standard - built to fail and create a steady stream of repair income for Electrolux and its affiliates. Since my main concern is reliability, at this moment I'm not a fan of their products.

Beware of MOLD stank!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had this unit since 2007. Used it for six months in a home. Put away for storage. Then wife's parents have been using for approximately last three years. We just purchased a home and were excited to have our units back. The dryer is fine, however, the washer is stinky. It has a mold problem from the research I've done. My laundry room is downstairs and there is a pungent odor of dirty laundry water as you walk down. We recently took the washer apart and cleaned inner drain tube, drain pump, outer drain tube, etc. in bleach pressured hot water. If anything the stink is worst. I do not recommend buying this product. In fact, I am buying a new top end loader here very soon.

Worst Washer Ever!!!!!!!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had my Frigidaire front Loader for years. It is the worst washing machine I have ever had. I hate it with a passion now. The control panel was changed once, the door gasket changed three times (yes, I keep it clean and dry. Mold developes anyway from the inside out), and the door lock assembly changed twice for deteriorating and breaking. The drain skimmer is perpetually clogging from nothing more than lint. In order to clear it, you have to pull off the top and front of the machine to access a very combersome rubber boot that it difficult to get back on. AVOID FRIGIDAIRE FRONT LOADERS AT ALL COSTS!!!!! From what I understand, the problems I have experienced are universal for most if not all of them.

Got this to replace the equivalent Kenmore
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My 8 year old HE Kenmore 417.43142200 3.1 cu ft washer's rear bearings and seals packed it in and could cost ~400+ to have repair. This is a similar machine with some cosmetic and quality improvements. Got this on sale for $553. Delivery and taking away the old one was included. The fellows that carted it in set it up in a hurry without leveling, left the inlet hoses askew (rattling) and the drain pipe without the U shape holder in place to keep it from slipping out of the drain and onto the floor. Good price questionable installation.

Not bad for the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Frigidaire Affinity washer and dryer work well for the price. Bare bones, but functional. I've noticed a few times that after the washer is done, there will be pools of water leftover in the detergent trays. A little annoying... **BEWARE** - When you buy this, BestBuy.com will recommend their stacking kit model # STACKIT7. This does not fit the combo of washer model no. FAFW3801LW and dryer model no. FAQE7001LW and we learned this the hard way when they units were delivered and installed. I had to call Frigidaire directly to confirm that the correct stacking kit is model # STACKIT4X - which BestBuy.com does not offer online, and was not available in any local Best Buy stores. I had to buy this separately at Lowe's, but I was informed by the Best Buy delivery service not to mention that when they made a 2nd visit to do the install/stacking. They technically are not allowed to stack with anything not purchased from Best Buy.

Washer breaks all the time!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this washer because of the price -- which was a big mistake. It has broken down several times in the year I have owned it. The first time because I had the nerve not to put socks into a lingerie bag. Apparently, the washer eats socks which then fouls up the mechanics of the machine resulting in an expensive repair. This morning, for no reason at all the machine just began turning on. Thought I'd run a cycle to try and clear it out, but it kept turning off and on while running. Unplugged it and will be buying a new washer today. DO NOT BUY THIS WASHER!

great washer for the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We purchased this and are very pleased with it. It doesnt have a lot of settings but has the ones we needed. Easy to use settings by just a push of a button. Love that the door locks when in use. We also purchased the pedestals. If you do not have them level they do vibrate very bad. But if they are properly leveled they do not vibrate nearly as bad. We have slight vibration but only because our floor is not perfectly level. I had read reviews that peoples homes were vibrating but if you level it you should be fine. We also use the tide throw in detergent, sometimes it gets stuck in the rubber around the door but doesnt impose on the way the machine works and still disperses the detergent. Am super pleased with this appliance and recommend for people looking for a great washer at a great price. We use our washer very frequently about 10 loads a week and not any problems.

Mold and Mildew issues / DO NOT PURCHASE!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Washer and dryer came with the house we just purchased. The washer has a rubber seal at the door that collects water in it. Had we checked we would have passed on these items. Water collects in the rubber seal and has permanently mildewed the rubber. I have to take paper towels between loads and soak up the water but STILL EVERY LOAD comes out moldy smelling. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS WASHER!!!

It does its job
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This High Effency fad makes it hard to buyers to purchase anything that doesnt have the "HE" seal of approval. Luckily I wear a uniform for work but when I have serious stains that need removed it takes washing it twice to get the job done.

Washer would not spin day 1
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The washer was defective immediately. I washed a load of laundry as soon as the delivery team left my house. The spin cycle never worked and I tried several times to get it to spin. I exchanged this washer for an LG which has worked very well.

Both washer and dryer are horrible
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted to write to make sure others don't buy Fridgedaire front-loaders, then I see all these other reviewers hate them too. If only these reviews were around when I bought them! At that time, I couldn't find any bad reviews. :( These are now 4 years old, and they're looking and acting like they're 10! I wish they were, cuz I'm going to have to replace them, I hate them so bad. I thought all front loaders were bad like this, but I've spoken to many folks that love theirs. None are Fridgedaire. The dryer filter will not sit down straight, and all the lint flies everywhere back on the clothes and the door..everywhere. The dryer takes 45-60 min per load, no matter what's drying. Washer is filthy, no matter how much we dry and wash and paint the rusted area, and do it all again. Had a technician out whom of course said it 'wasn't leaking'. Right. Our clothes have smelled from the first day we bought it. Have gone through tons of fabric softener trying to find one that would take away the moldy smell.
