Caution, hot spots

This model was rated well, but the top surface gets very hot while using the oven. The hot surface light only comes on when the surface units have been used, but do not warn you that the top may be dangerously hot in other areas. I often stand in front of the range and place my hand on the counter or cooktop, and I have a 5 year old--so the hot spots are entirely unacceptable. I am guessing that I have never experienced this flaw in previous ranges because my past models were self-cleaning and perhaps much more insulated. Thankfully, Best Buy is AWESOME about returns/exchanges and helped me find the perfect range.
