Top-Shelf Choice For Serious Photo Work

I shoot mainly with a Canon 5D Mark III for my serious work. I bought a Fujifilm X-E2 back last winter as a more subtle choice around people. I fell in love with its X-Trans sensor and the photos it was capable of putting out. The viewfinder was stellar as well. When I found the X-T1 towards the end of the summer, everything I read seemed to indicate that this would be the perfect camera for the way I shoot. Having dedicated dials for ISO, shutter speed and exposure compensation has been extremely liberating. The high-ISO performance is nearly on par with my Canon 5D Mark III, the photos are everything I could ask of a camera and it's small enough to go in my ONA Brixton bag everywhere I go with my laptop and lenses. I shoot with the 18-55 kit lens, which is an all-metal miracle of engineering...the image stabilization is excellent and the AF fast and sure. I also use the amazing 10-24 wide angle lens, which is perfect for landscape work and the 55-200 is used for any distance work. The 55-200's autofocus is pretty much useless in anything but bright light but the X-T1's focus assist tools assure great manual focus. I got the large grip/Arca plate for it and it is so comfortable to hold in the hand. I highly recommend this amazing camera and look forward to the images I will capture with it.

Was very surprised how small, but yet easily handled, the FujiFilm XT-1 camera is! I sprung for the silver version, a bit pricier, but it looks great, and I'll always enjoy the look. My first test photos were very sharp and full of color. I had previously had a Nikon D-700, which is a professional grade camera, but was way too heavy and bulky for hiking trips I've planned. The XT-1 will be perfect, and I'll hardly know I'm carrying a wonderful camera.

Good sturdy construction and convenient design; nice that ISO and shutterspeed controls are easy to
access on external dials. Fast autofocus, excellent (big and clear) EVF, nice focus-assist zoom. Beautiful picture quality. But battery consumption/life could be improved.

Great Camera...Still Work To Be Done

Great camera but there are still areas where Fuji falls short. I've owned an X100s and X-Pro 1. This is by far, the best Fuji X series camera.
Pros:
Great image quality
Face detection auto-focus
Compact
Cons:
AF could be faster (it's fast but not DSLR fast)
Poor flash system (Fuji needs to build out a solid line of Flash products)
I think that Fuji is doing some great things and I love my X-T1 but it isn't perfect.

While I really wanted the Fujifilm XT-2 the price of $1599.00 was not going to let that happen any time soon. When BB dropped the price of this, the XT-1, to $899.00 I had no problems jumping on it. It was a $1299.00 camera that made no sense to purchase when it was only $300.00 less than the XT-2
The two major upgrades to the XT-2 don't mean much to me.
1. Faster autofocus? I shoot landscapes and portraits, not action oriented stuff.
2. 24 mp sensor vs 16.7 mp sensor? The XT-1 has been lauded by multiple review sites for its fabulous mage quality (IQ). I've never been a fan of the idea more is better when it comes to the number of megapixels. The size of the pixels matters as does the size of the image sensor. Jamming more megapixels on the same size sensor does not mean better IQ on its own.
To me this was an outstanding value at the sale price. The XT-2 will be around for a later purchase or maybe it will be the XT-3 by then...
Cheers!

I have almost completed my migration off of my Nikon system to FujiFilm. The X-T1 makes taking pictures again fun. It is a rugged and well made camera. I would highly recommend it.

I bought this camera for a trip to Australia and New Zealand so I didn't have to take a larger body and a bunch of lenses. It takes great photos and is easy to use. I upgraded the lens and now use this camera most of the time instead of my larger (and more expensive) equipment.

I am a big fan of the Fujifilm X series, and had an x100s, X-E2, and decent assemblage of XF lenses prior to purchase of the X-T1. When I needed another body I debated whether to buy another copy of the X-E2 or spend more $$ on the X-T1. So glad I purchased the latter as it really delivers on several things over the X-E2: better grip in the hand; some additional AF speed; speedier burst mode; continuous AF actually works in high-speed burst mode; nice magnified EVF; tilt screen that I use often; and a great remote shooting/image transfer app that I find myself using all the time. The only things I really miss from the X-E2 are (1) the rangefinder format; (2) the built-in bounceable flash - I will never use the weird little add-on flash that comes with the X-T1 as it cannot be bounced upward; and (3) I wish the dedicated video button could be used as a custom button, as I don't use the camera for video. Fantastic camera overall - only problem is that I like it so much I am tempted to trade in my X-E2 for another copy of the X-T1 so my fingers don't have to recall the differences between the 2 bodies...

Purchased the camera for pleasure shooting. My wife and I own both the Olympus OMD and now the XT1. This camera is on par with the OMD and the pictures are beautiful. 12x14's are sweet. The camera with one prime lens was expensive but we feel well worth the money. The camera is very well built and I trust the fujifilm name. We know that purchasing a camera will be an investment in lenses, so we felt that fuji lenses were high quality just like the olympus lenses. Already I have my on on the 56mm prime. Cant wait to get it.
