This collects the first two Full Metal Panic series: Full Metal Panic and Full Metal Panic Fummofu.
In Full Metal Panic, a young Japanese girl named Kaname Chidori possesses psychic powers and this makes her a target for terrorists. A secret mercenary army sends an agent named Sosuke Sagara to pose as a student in the high school Kaname attends and to protect her. What follows is a great mix of action and comedy. The action follows Sosuke's efforts to protect Kaname from the terroists and has some exciting combat and mecha scenes. The comedy is based on the fact that Souske can only think in military terms and is thus unable to fit in with ordinary society. Lots of hijinks and Kaname is always on hand to try to knock some sense into him.
FMP Fummofu is all comedy and is based on Souske's inability to fit in to normal society.
Both series are very well written and animated and feature some great characters. If you are into mecha but want a series that is more than just mindless robot fights, check out FMP.
Do not watch the English dub under any circumstances. The English voice cast ranges from inappropriately cast to annoying, the Japanese cast is far superior.

Full Metal Panic is about a anti-terroist organization called Mithril that secertly acts as world police and use giant robots called AS. It has a decent plot, action, as well as abet of love. The voice acting was top notch as well as the animation. Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu was so funny, that I didn't want it to end. Its takes place solely in school, where Sousuke gets into alot of trouble, and has no real combat scenes. Despite the lack in action it was one of the funniest anime I've seen. I enjoyed this anime and recommend everyone to check this one out.

The story is great and the english voice acting is not really that bad. The plot is not really that well thought out. I for one think that they should have explained and concentrated more on developing the "whispered" aspect of the plot as it seems to have been thrown in there just to help the story along.

This collection contains lots of good episodes and the show itself is super funny, especially the Fumoffu collection.
