My friend told me that I should watch this show. He told me that it might not be my favorite show ever, but that it was something that I would never regret buying. Well, I am happy to say he was more than right. It's not my favorite show, but it comes very close and I only say that because I have only watched the first disc. This show is pure excellence. The plot took me right in while I was watching the first episode and I had to keep going until I realized it was late and I had to sleep to be able to work the next day. One of the characters voices, Al a.k.a. Alfonse, I first thought was wierd because his voice is high and he is inside a giant set of armor, but you understand why later on in the first episode. (I can't give you spoilers lol) The only voice I have a problem with is about episode 5 when the main characters are still in Al's flashback and they are staying with a man and his daughter. His daughter's voice has got to be the saddest attempt at a child's voice I have seen since Phil's voice from the rugrats (whats up with a baby's voice being lower than many MEN I have met? right? lol) The show is well drawn and beautiful behind every corner. This is definitely worth the fifty dollars I paid and was also worth the other fifty dollars I paid for the second season. I love this show and wish every anime was as awesome and creative as this one.

Short Version: One of the best shoes ever; buy this now!!! Long Version: FMA won 5 of 8 awards that it was eligible for at the 2007 American Anime Awards, and it easily deserved every one of them. Before you buy this, make sure you have a large block of unused time available for you, because once you start watching, you won't want to stop. Although this is fantasy, the characters manage to be excessively realistic. The story is filled with gray areas, and no clear black and white appears throughout the whole series (not colors, moral issues). I really find it hard to express in words how great this anime is. Buy and watch this today, even if you don't especially like anime, because if you don't, you will have missed out on one of the greatest stories of all time. NOTE: Turn the voice acting to Japanese with English subtitles if you are comfortable with it, as the English voice actors really don't do the show justice.
