Loved this show as a kid ... used to watch this with my father ... This DVD is worth it for the last episodes about Starbuck. ... quality is very good for a 1980 tv show as well ...

Okay, so there are those who did not like the second season of Battlestar Galactica. Can't really blame Larson for that ABC wanted scripts fast and the time slot forced it to be more family friendly. the first episode wasn't too bad as it did help bridge some gaps and probabably would have been better if it was the only episode. Episodes 4 - 6 were a bit slower but their was more continuity between all the episodes except the last episode which was actually the best as it allowed all the fans to see what may have happened to the beloved Starbuck. This episode could have played right after the pilot and that could have changed the outcome of the series, the other problem was the 10 episodes were spread over 4 1/2 months because they would show 2 - 3 episodes and then took a two or 3 week break between episodes. It will be interesting to see if they corrected the spelling of some of the production credits.

Galactica 1980 or BSG 2?

Okay, in its hay day it seemed hokey but the digital transfer is clean, of course I am comparing them to my 1980 brodacst recordings of Galactica 1980. Which by the way, the opening title for the series Galactica 1980 was replaced on the DVD with the original title Battlestar Galactica from episode 3 to the last one. It doesn't make sense that they did that. In fact if they made the effort to change the opening titles, why didn't they correct the mispelled credits SWfan mentioned in his review? It looks as though these are the "uncut versions" as aired on SCI-FI but SCI-FI channel was known for editing out snippets so they can cram more commercials in. I hope they didnt throw these edited versins on this set hping we wouldn't notice. I have yet to watch them and compare them to my ABC versions. In the mean time as bad as it was it could have been worse, they could have really ticked us off and jsut released the film version called 'Conquest of the Earth" Now that was a disaster. I am almost surprised that they didn't incude it as an extra feaure. It basically took the first 7 episodes (and then some) and creatively hashed out a 100 minute version of the entire series for a UK theatrical release. take my word for it , that was bad. This series, as badly ranted by critics, still has its merits, howver everyone seemed to age 30 years ( or is that yahrens) yet Boomer looks good for someone who should be about 60 or so.
