A great cast keeps this movie moving along. Lots of laughs and spoofs of outer space movies. The story line has a lot of heart with lots of action. The comic parts are well done. Good one for the whole family. Never Give Up, Never Surrender.

This film was the Star Trek film I always wanted to see..a look at the almost fanatical fanbase, the tired tropes we saw a thousand times..all sent up with reverence for the original source material.. simply great fun!..the extras are fantastic.. especially the Thermian dub.. a great party watch!..

As a lifelong Star Trek fan, Galaxy Quest is one of my favorite movies. It's parody of the genre is hilariously entertaining, and all of the actors are fun to watch -- especially my favorite, Alan Rickman! I had the DVD of Galaxy Quest and was happy with it, but I've found the overall experience of the BluRay to be much better than the DVD. The video transfer is pretty darn good: the higher resolution of the BluRay is quite apparent compared to my DVD version, while the BluRay's colors look best in the space scenes with somewhat more muted (but accurate) colors indoors. Note that this is more a reflection of the set design than the actual BluRay transfer, though, as the interior of the ship uses a lot of neutral colors. The colorful uniforms (and aliens) look amazing, though! The score and sound on this disc is also a treat; the Dolby 5.1 sounds great and better than a lot of my BluRay movies. If you're a fan of Galaxy Quest, definitely pick this up! Still one of my most favorite movies, and beautifully upgraded to BluRay: Win-Win!

Best Star Trek movie since the original Wrath of Khan! A quirky, loving homage to the show- and the sci-fi film genre. Funny, action- packed, and touching, this top notch cast turns in a fantastic film, spoofing over the hill TV stars, eking out a living signing autographs and making appearances for dubious occasions, suddenly flung into a real life space adventure. They fight a ruthless conqueror and try to save a naive, gentle alien race who believes their televised adventures were real, and that they are their only hope standing between them and oblivion. Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver, Alan Rickman, Sam Rockwell, Daryl Mitchell, and Tony Shaloub headline as the crew of the fictional NSEA Protector, and Justin Long shines in a great turn as the diehard fan who helps them save the day.

Never Underestimate the Power of Fandom!

A true example of how fandom can inspire and influence. "Galaxy Quest" tells the story of a group of has-been actors from a "Star Trek" rip-off who are asked to save a race of aliens from a galactic menace. These actors must step up to save the universe with their experience on the show. I've always enjoyed this movie because it truly shows how something such as a TV show can make a difference in people's lives. A truly fun watch with great performances from Tim Allen, Alan Rickman and Sigourney Weaver to name a few. A definite recommendation for "Star Trek," Sci-Fi or any fans in general.

... and it's released as a Blu Ray Steelbook FINALLY!!! As a lifelong Star Trek fan (grew up with original series reruns on Friday nights and watched TNG from the premiere in high school) this just tickled my to no end. I absolutely LOVE entertaining Sci-Fi comedies like: Barbarella, Flash Gordon, Ghostbusters, Buckaroo Banzai, Back to the Future, MIB, Red Dwarf, Spaceballs, The Fifth Element and Paul. This film ranks right up there with them as well! And every actor absolutely knocks it out of the park--- A truly welcome addition to my Steelbook collection. ;-) I am SO HAPPY!

Never Give Up, Never Surrender This Steelbook

Once you have your hands on this steelbook commemorating the 20th anniversary of the sci-fi classic Galaxy Quest, you'll want to keep ahold of it. It features a beautiful gloss finish over a reimagining of the theatrical poster on the front, with the classic Jason Nesmith catchphrase on the back: "Never give up. Never surrender." Regardless of that glowing review, I only gave this steelbook 4 stars instead of 5 because of the general lack of imagination in the design on the front cover. It looks great, but it isn't really anything original, which is what a lot of collectors look for in steelbook artwork. The back cover looks great, and I personally wish they would have made that artwork the front cover and substituted something else for the back. It's still a great addition to any steelbook collection, though.

Almost forgotten in its theatrical release (maybe due to marketing not sure how to handle the material), this is a wonderful film with a deft mixture of homage/respect, mockery, and a class-act cast that appears to be having a blast. Most of the effects are very well done, and the overall premise is very unique. It has much to offer all generations, serving as a great family film for anyone enjoying some sci-fi/fantasy and comedy, but not all of either throughout. Blu-Ray package has some nice extras, but the transfer is well done and sound enveloping is impressive -- a very active movie and soundtrack. Highly recommended.

This movie is hilarious! It is a love letter to Star Trek and the Trekkies and it is well done. The movie revolves around a cast of the television shown"Galaxy Quest". People from a different planet think the show is real and they acquire the actors from the show to people them fight the villain. This just leads to awesome jokes and gags. The movie is well made with awesome visual effects. The acting is superb. This is just an awesome movie.

Even though it's not related to that franchise, you know clear well who they were targeting when they made this movie. Funny riff on sci-fi & serial storylines. They got the perfect cast of actors & they played their parts beautifully. I would love to see another installment, but it would truly miss so much without Alan Rickman. I had an old DVD copy, so as part of my library upgrade, picked up this Blu-ray for cheap. Very good picture & great sound quality. Highly recommended watching, like Saturday morning cartoons.

This is one movie that just never gives up and never surrenders, it holds up very well even today and is almost as big a classic as Star Trek itself. Featuring such names as Tim Allen (when at the height of his career), Sigorney Weaver and the late, great Allan Rickman. If you're any fan of Star Trek, you'll instantly get a lot of the references that throw back to the original series.

Galaxy Quest" is a wonderfully silly film, but in order to appreciate its satire fully, I suspect one has to be at least marginally familiar with the "Star Trek" television series. "Galaxy Quest" is a "what-if" movie, and one that requires a certain background knowledge on the viewer's part. In honor of the film's tenth anniversary and because it ties in with the newest "Star Trek" motion picture, the DreamWorks team are re-releasing "Galaxy Quest" with additional, newly made bonus materials not found in the previous edition. Why they announce "Celebrating 10 years of Galaxy Quest" on a slipcover sticker and then post a production year of 2000 on the back of the keep case is beyond me, but the sticker appears to be correct. DreamWorks released the movie to theaters in December of 1999.

Galaxy Quest is easily the best Star Trek movie made since First Contact, or maybe even Undiscovered Country. Its understanding and adoration for its "source" material produced one of the warmest, funniest, exciting adventures a group of untested misfits ever went on. I know there's no hope for the adventure to ever continue of TV, but a fan can always dream... The blu ray, too, is a serious step up in picture and sound quality from the DVD. As David Newman's rousing score never got a proper CD release, this is the best quality at which we're likely ever to hear it.

This is a "MUST HAVE" movie. So glad Best Buy had a deal on it. The DVD works great and probably will for the many times I plan to watch this movie. I can see Galaxy Quest over and over again. I'm a huge (original) Star Trek fan so this is right up my alley. A spoof on not only Star Trek but every B Sci-Fi movie ever. Very well done, well acted, well scripted....quote the lines to friends...I do. My all time fave go-to quote, "Never give up, never surrender".

Fun movie for the whole family with a good job done by the main and supporting cast. Fans of Alan Rickman, particularly will enjoy this. For anybody purchasing because of the steel book, be advised the color is not the same as shown on the website. It is much more subdued in person. Still looks ok, just not as vibrant. Unfortunately, that led to a bit of disappointment when I opened the box upon delivery.

This movie is so funny and clever. It's been one of my favorite films ever since the first time I saw it. It's not only a humorous look at sic-fi movies (and the fans that accompany them). But it's kind of brilliant in it's own right. A movie like this could have just been a bunch of spoofy silliness, but it goes much further than that and creates it's own world and characters. The crew, especially Sigourney Weaver, is top-notch and fully on top of their game in this film. I'd recommend it to anyone.

Parodying television series such as Star Trek and its fandom, the film stars Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver, Alan Rickman, Tony Shalhoub, Sam Rockwell, and Daryl Mitchell as the cast of a defunct television series called Galaxy Quest, in which the crew of a spaceship embarked on intergalactic adventures. Enrico Colantoni stars as the leader of an alien race who ask the actors for help, believing the show's adventures were real. The film's supporting cast features Robin Sachs as the warlord Sarris and Patrick Breen as another alien. Justin Long makes his feature film debut as an obsessed fan of the television show.

Definitly Cult favorite sci-fi spoof, still entertains today! The steel book artwork is beautiful and you get the same solid Blu-ray released almost 10 years ago. Wish they could give us a 4k release though but I'm happy with this case upgrade. Fast and easy pre-ordered pickup. RECOMMENDED!

This movie always brings me back to when I was a child. I watched it over and over and loved it. There are a lot of people that were in this that moved on to bigger and better things. Like Alan Rickman who went on to become Professor Snape in the Harry Potter series. Tim Allen from the Toy Story had went on to do Santa Clause. I could go on and on there were many good actors in this film. This was in the early years of green and visual effects and I thought it stood up well to todays movies.
