It just works, although it could use more configurable time delays.
It is a bit expensive though (a THIRD of the price of the Garmin Mini 3 dash cam!!), so I would probably get a cheaper cable next time. It’s just a hidden OBD cable. Any cable would work well enough for this…

The Garmin constant power cable makes it so easy to install your dash cam. No splicing or wires or having to mess around with the fuse box on your car. Simply plug into the obd plug (most all cars have this plug) and then plug in your dash cam. Easy to wire along the driver door molding. Took me less than 15 minutes. Wire is all hidden and looks 100% professional. Has a second USB plug, so you could also wire in a radar detector or other item that needs power and the wires could all be hidden for a great look.

This cable is a must when using one or multiple Garmin dash cams. Connects via the OBD port and gives you always on capability to monitor parking, if needed. This cables makes install simple and quick.

The Garmin Constant Power Cable is a reliable accessory designed for users who need continuous power for their Garmin devices, such as dash cameras. This cable ensures that your device remains powered even during long trips, preventing interruptions in service or data recording. Its durable construction provides stability, and the easy installation process makes it a convenient addition for both personal and professional use. However, depending on the vehicle’s setup, the cable might require professional assistance for optimal installation. Overall, it’s a valuable investment for maintaining seamless operation of Garmin devices on the go.

Without an available cigarette lighter socket (and I don't want to use the USB port in my center console) this Garmin power supply OBD port plug powers my dash cam easily, and provides two (2) USB-A female receptacles.

Easy to use, can run two dash cams and allows for a wired setup with minimum effort. I have ran this on three different vehicles personally and gifted them to family members with Garmin Mini for a complete package. In my opinion it’s a must have and Best Buy should be stocking these or better yet Garmin providing them as a package (even if they have to charge a little more).

Purchased two of these, one for my wife's 2015 Hyundai and one for my 2023 Ford Bronco. Both were set for ten minute shutdown. Works perfectly on the Bronco but never shuts down on the Hyundai and completely discharges it's brand new battery. Will be sending it back.

It works well and I like the option of choosing how long power will remain active. However, my gripe is the value. This should be included with the dashcam. Especially when you start getting into mid and higher end models Its kind of inexcusable that this isn't just included. I feel like the 50 dollar price point is roughly twice what this item should cost, or its value to me. It was a begrudged purchase once I figured out that I needed this to achieve my initial goal of continuous video capture when the vehicle is parked. My gripe is entirely with the pricing and that this was not included with a $250+ camera that advertises continuous video capture. So that 250+ turns into 300+ to get the advertised functionality of it.
In terms of how it operates, its does its job. It feels incredibly cheap and flimsy, but for something you will hide away and never realistilly look at, its not a huge deal - but again for the price paid, it adds insult to injury.
