I looked long and hard for a dash cam and thought for sure I was going to purchase on that was advertising like crazy on instagram. I decided to look on BestBuy and gave this little dash cam a try. I purchased a 32gb microSD card with it and also bought a wiring adapter which allows me to tap into the power to my rear view mirror to my 2014 Ford F-150. This one accessory made it completely worthwhile and I absolutely love this dash cam. Does it have 2 cameras? No and i’m fine with that. It records very good quality front facing video (and audio if you want) and I have used the voice operated feature many times when i’ve had some close calls. No touching of buttons needed. Just say “Ok Garmin, save video” and a little tone will let you know its done. You can also say “Ok Garmin, take a picture” and it will do just that. It works flawlessly, even with the stereo going at reasonable level. Since the camera is so small, I mounted it directly in front of the rear view mirror and all I see is the red power light when I turn the ignition on. There is an extra ball mount so you can move your dash cam between 2 vehicles if needed without having to buy another mount. I’ve read of many issues with other brands and I just wanted a dash cam that works with a high degree of reliability. Ive been using this one for about 3 weeks now and I don’t regret my purchase one bit.

Great Discrete camera for your car

My main concern in having a dash cam in proof of fault(or lack of) in the event of an accident. I didn't need anything fancy with a screen and I certainly didn't want GPS enabled. I went with a pair of Garmin Mini 2's and love them. They are extremely small, and are voice enabled. You can give the cameras simple commands such as stop/start audio, take a picture, etc.. For my front camera, I bought an adapter that gets power from my rearview mirror and for the rear one, I tapped into the rear brake light. They also have a feature called parking guard which will turn them on if they sense an impact to the car. For their size, video quality is actually pretty good.. License plates can be a bit hard to make out when in motion, but as others have suggested, I've gotten into the practice of leaving a voice note with the license plate number if the situation arises. You can add up to 4 cameras in your car and they will sync to the app automatically as you install them. The app has some pretty useful features such as live view and review of videos that are stored on the internal microSD. I have 128Gb memory cards installed in ach one and that it plenty of space for over 30 days of recording. Once in a while I just pull the MicroSD's out, install them into my computer and physically clear the video. Either way, if you're looking for a cam that is discrete and small, check out the Garmins

    Didn't last 1.5 years

Total piece of junk. Mine didn’t even last a year and a half. At first, when it did work, it was great. Small footprint, no screen, just a little red light to let you know it was there. After a little more than a year it started giving an error about the sd-card slowing down and needing to be replaced. Then it started to sporadically record. Most times in my drive to work, it would never record. Sometimes it would record for hours (10+) after the car shut down, even with the Garmin Constant Power cable set to shut off after 10 minutes. It made me run through 3 car batteries. Garmin themselves were no help. The only suggestion from them was to try a different power wire. Then today I check my recordings and have nothing but a purple screen with lines. Kind of expected more for the money and from a company like Garmin.

Needed a very small dash cam that would not interfere with the eyesight system on our Subaru. This camera is the perfect size and it is very easy to install/use. Very good quality during the day and night. I placed the camera behind the rear view mirror and it is completely hidden. Overall, very pleased with the camera.

Amazing little dash cam. Video and sound is clear and app interface works seamless. Voice command is such a useful feature. Wired this behind my auto dimming mirror using a Dongar Technologies plug in 10-pin cable and it came out OEM level clean install with no long wires running all the way to my cigarette lighter socket. Highly recommended!

I really like how small this dash cam is. It works exactly as advertised. The picture quality is good and the editing software through the garmin app is easy to navigate. Over all a very good small dashcam that does exactly what it says on the box. I’ll be getting another one for rear facing footage.

I love love this product. It is not expensive like the others, it’s small and out of the way you can program it to your phone so you can see it, it does not have a big screen that distracts you when you’re driving, small, cute, no one knows u have it.. I bought three because I was comfortable with buying this product after getting to understanding it and it’s easy to use and only one wire or cable.. all other cameras had mini cables..

Love this Dash Cam Mini 2. It is compact and powerful. Gives me peace of mind when traveling knowing that all is being captured on video just in case. Easy set up. I did need to add box tape to secure it better during the very hot and cold days.

Small size, easy to install, small footprint, clear graphics, and convenient connection. But sometimes when you start the car, it won't record, the lights won't light up, and when you restart the car, you can. I don't know why! But overall, it's still good and worth recommending!

Not bad. I tried setting it up with my desktop computer via USB but didn't realize you can't do that! Once I set it up with just the supplied "power" cable, in the car, worked fine. Images are good but wireless download of files to phone via app is totally useless and impractical (takes forever if it even works; I gave up). So, to see videos, I just take the card out of dashcam (easy) and plug it right into the phone via a USB-C adapter...works fine that way. Overall, definitely worth it and the size is perfect as it is totally invisible (no wires...attached right to dimming mirror circuit). I bought the polarized filter too; definitely improves image quality. The image at night it was raining. Both images are through Garmin's polarized filter.

The best and most discrete dashcam

I work in the safety department of a national trucking company where I actually go over accident footage captured from our truck's dash cameras. The devices installed in our trucks are big, clunky, and struggle to stay attached to the windshield. With that in mind I spent a lot of time researching a compact and light-weight dashcam that would stay affixed to the windshield and be out of sight. Without a doubt this has been the best dashcam I have ever used. Mounting it was a piece of cake, the 3M adhesive has held up to cold days and the hottest days of summer. The camera itself has remained operable even in extreme summer heat. The ability to live view from it using a phone app has been wonderful in making sure placement is acceptable. Again I can't stress this enough, it is tiny and easily fits tucked behind my MX-5's rearview mirror. One of the best features of it is that you can tell it "Ok Garmin, Record Video" and it will immediately record without me having to reach a hand behind my mirror to push the trigger button. I highly recommend taking about 30-45 minutes to update the camera's firmware when you first install it. The app doesn't just upgrade it to the latest firmware in one step, you have to upgrade it in iterations. It took about 30 minutes and about 5 times of repeating the 'Check for Updates, Upgrade Firmware' steps in the app after it was finally caught up to date. I also recommend picking up a rearview mirror USB power adapter harness for your specific vehicle. My MX-5 uses a homelink auto-dimming mirror so I picked up a harness that plugs into the back of the mirror in between the car's wiring harness. The harness features a 5V USB female pug that let me run a short 3 inch USB cable from the dash cam to the plug behind the mirror. Upon vehicle ignition on the camera immediately turns on and I didn't have to run a long USB cable through my car's interior.

My car has a narrow windshield and I wanted something small to hide behind my mirror. The Mini 2 is the only option at the time of this review that is compact. I've had it for nearly two months and haven't had a single issue. So far no overheating after a 4 hour trip and connects to the Drive app via Android 12 every time. I have two of these for the front and rear. The app will detect both and even have the option to export the videos separately or have a Picture-in-Picture (PIP) option as my image shows. The only downside is the 1080p quality is okay to capture events, but not good enough to read license plates most times. It's a trade off, but compact is my priority over quality. (for most, I understand that quality is a priority, in which case i recommend a 4k dashcam) *NOTE: I am using Garmin's Hardwire Kit (Part#: 010-12530-03) to power these which is not sold at BestBuy.

I really like the small size and the minimalistic approach. I don’t need a screen on it in favor of a small size. HOWEVER, it just is not reliable. At first it randomly disable voice commands, then it started to occasionally freeze. Not it frequently restarts all on its own. And eventually it refuses to connect to my phone anymore. The app simply keeps recommending different troubleshooting methods … without success.

Great little camera. Easy self install. Takes great video. Two related complaints complaints - in the Florida heat, the adhesive stuck to the windshield well, but kept coming off from the mount itself. It can take several tries to successfully link the app on the phone to the camera to see the live image - particularly frustrating when (see above) the camera has to be realigned after coming off the windshield.

I love the Garmin mini dash cam. It was very easy to set up for start to finish. The app works great as well. I plan to add another one of these to the rear window as well. I just have it plugged in for now but I plan on hardwiring it in the future. I like how easy it is to see my videos. The picture quality is really good. I can read license plates fairly well. The night footage is way better than I expected. I would highly recommend this dash cam

Got for my wife’s SUV. Wanted lowest profile I could get so she doesn’t have to see the camera or deal with it everyday. Fits the bill perfectly…..live view is awesome……would like to replace the Cobra cameras in my car but will need two of these to have a rear facing camera.
