Customers are saying

Customers love the Dash Cam Mini 3 for its compact size and reliability. However, they are frustrated with the slow wireless transfer of videos, which requires a manual connection to Wi-Fi every time they get in the car.

    Well Performing for the Price!

I have had this for a month. I like it because it is hidden out of sight behind my rearview mirror, picture quality is good, the brand has been around for a long time and the price. There are a few things so far I don't like: 1) it records duplicates in two different formats, 2) date/time is off on some of my recordings. Instructions say to connect to the app to fix, I have not tried this yet. I think that is a big flaw, you should be able to set date/time manually and never worry again or depend on an app to link up and correct. 3) It should come with a suction cup mount instead of just adhesive it has. The customer should not have to pay extra for the suction mount that is offered as an option. There are other cheaper cameras out there with starvis2, night vision, 4k, but they have not been out there as long as Garmin and the reviews of failures to record or unit becoming defective after 6 plus months helped make me decide to go with Garmin. The video is good enough quality night and day time. I would recommend this product and also recommend if you have a powered rearview to check out donglar to make the connection from rearview mirror straight to your camera. It makes a very clean installation.

    Disspointing Cam From Garmin

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The dash cam is small and inconspicuous, and the picture quality is good considering its size; however, retrieving data using the drive app takes a ridiculous amount of time. The fastest/less time consuming why to retrieve videos is by directly plugging the camera to your phone. This effectively makes the app useless. Even calibrating the camera is time consuming. I regret purchasing this device and should've listen to my friends; however, I did trust the Garmin brand. Not so much anymore. What really grinds my gears is that I paid $80 for a professional install!

I'm sorry to hear about your experience, Edward. A Vault subscription makes it easy to securely share your important videos, which can be accessed on the Garmin Drive app on your compatible smartphone. Garmin

I mounted mine almost between “the eyes” but NOT on the black dots. I will say voice command rarely works. I just use the button. Good video quality to be so small. Mine is not hardwired. Detects g force. App works well! Im happy with my purchase. Ive had it for a few months now.

The camera is a nice size ane pic but thats about it, you have to manually connect to wifi every time you get in the car, also it keeps asking you to subscibe to a service to upload your videos to the cloud, very annoying, you also need to be connected to wifi to upload any videos to your phone, my other dash cam automatically downlaod videos to my phone without me doing anything, also it connected to my phone also..

Best product for your money. I would go out and deepen the extra $50-$75 for the screen. Navigating with is easy. Using the app and installation is a breeze.

    1) Video quality: Worse than fitcamx. 2) Connectivity: Bluetooth & WiFi wireless transfer of video on phone takes forever. You feel like you are back in 90’s. 3) Price : Not worth paying the price. 4) Installation: Easy and small in size.

The product itself is quite fine. It is very small so if you want a concealable camera, this will do just nicely. The image quality is fine but it's nothing to write home about. You only get one sticky pad to mount so make it count. You will need a compatible memory card to use this dash cam, even if you sign up for their cloud service, so have that ready as well. Overall it's a nice, small, entry level camera that should work for most people's needs. Do your research to see if it's best for you.

I expected better from a company, such as Garmin. I like the simplicity in futures this offers however it’s unreliable and has a lot of bug. Using the app is so slow it’s unusable and there customer support is a the same. It works as cheap insurance, though as I’ve checked the SD card and it seems to be recording.

We have the Garmin mini 2 in our other vehicles and they have been great over the last four years. My Cobra SC201 dash cam went down so I figured the Garmin mini 3 would be an upgrade and so far it’s been amazing. Easy connect to the app for live view and takes up less space on the windshield. It’s a must have these days.

The "mini" series dash cams are great camersa for concealment but as MANY others have complained, not so good with the application (bluetooth connection). GARMIN needs to create a CarPlay compatible application with easier connection features. Although we know that fumbling with the phone app is a no-no we do it anyway...thats why we NEED a CarPlay application! Give us a new application that works!!! DRIVE stinks...

I use Garmin on all my vehicles, so when it was time to add one to my new car, i chose Garmin again. I like the Dash Cam Mini 3’s small size and reliability. Its small and out of the way. I dont even see it behinf the rear view mirror when driving, but i know the recordings aee there when needed. I use the Garmin Drive app to setup the devices, but i generally just take tge SD card out if I need videos.

This camera is a great dash camera. It is very discrete and you quickly forget it is even in your vehicle. For me, this is the biggest benifit of this camera. Also the Garmin app is very easy to use and accessing your footage is done quickly.

It's an ok dashcam but it's a step back from the mini 2. The picture quality is great but the wifi chip in it is awful. It's take forever to load the videos and half the time the camera loses connection and you have to start all over again compared to everything loading very quickly on the min 2. It's also more expensive for worse features.

    Love the size, but …

So, I had the Dashcam 2 before and after a short time it would simply not work right, requiring frequent restarts to reactivate voice commands and eventually to perform basic functions. Enough, and I bought the DashCam 3. The “fool me once …” comes to mind. Garmin doesn’t work with VPN on your phone, but that can be mitigated by turning it off during the initial phase (long enough to get the connection). That applies to setup but also for live view. With that hurdle taken, it turns out that the DashCam 3 inexplicably does not have a free short-term Vault option and if you want your videos accessed via WiFi you now have to subscribe for $10/month or $100/year. Seriously? With size being the only real argument for the Garmin, I feel this is some very this ice. My next cam is unlikely to hold the name Garmin.

Better than expected performance. A few slight issues—replaced an older model and uses a different cord so had to run this one through; also, bigger (width) so mount had to be moved further from the mirror. These slight inconveniences do not outweigh the performance over the older ones.

What I like about it is that there is no internal lithium battery in it and the simplicity of the Garmin gui. I wish it was a 4K resolution but it woukd probably cost a lot more.

Works great and isn't even noticeable when paired with the Dongar adapter that pulls power from the rear view mirror. Highly recommend.
