I wanted a basic GPS unit for navigation, did not want to pay for extra features. I have a smart phone with apps for extra features. I had a previous Garmin that I used for over 12 years, I finally retired it and replaced with this unit. Very easy to use, easy to read. I attached it to the Garmin base that I already owned. The suction cup will not last in the South Florida heat. I have been using it on and off for several months. Did not want to tie up my smart phone on longer trips. Make sure you update your maps when you take it out of the box. Map updates are important to a successful experience.

I am a special needs bus driver and I average 200 to 250 miles per day. This is my 3rd garmen purchase over 15 years of driving. It is so simple to use, gets me where I need to be on a timely manner because timing is especially needed when you are picking up students. Excellent uses for me are...guides me perfectly when there is a detour due to traffic, construction or accident....stores all addresses of students & schools with names....AND its perfect if someone else needs to do my run, they can use my Garmen with all the students listed to do my run properly and on time without having to try and read written directions on a paper. The screen is truly clear and legible to glance at when driving, shows the time of destination and adjusts with detours. HIGHLY recommended for route drivers, but everyone can use it ....EXCELLENT but yet SIMPLE!

    Good (not great) GPS

The GPS functions are very nice. The directions are clear and the display is user friendly. The touch screen is not as responsive as a smart phone, so oftentimes I find myself having to click twice or harder than I would expect. It has to be plugged in to work, that is the biggest downside. There is no battery life beyond a minute when unplugged (to protect from accidentally unplugging). Overall, it is a good machine for the price.

Thanks for your feedback. I wanted to mention the battery on this model should last up to an hour from a full charge. You may want to charge it with the included vehicle power cable or an AC wall charger. Garmin

As a social worker with MANY home visits, I depended upon my Garmin....especially getting out of a neighborhood that I am not familiar with. With features that provided me accuracy and ease, I could find locations that I visited multiple, making my job so much more efficient. I feel like I could deliver pizza ANYWHERE !!

This GPS is a great little tool for a nice price. It was easy to update and use and sure beats my car’s 2016 out-dated GPS data. I like the detail directions and advance notice it provides. Touch screen is easy to use and can be used in your hotel room to set up the next destination.

Right before an important trip, my vintage Garmin stopped working. Rushed to BB to buy the Drive 52 and put it to work the very next day. The upgrades from old GPS to this are very nice. Larger screen, very clear image, easier to program new addresses etc. I particularly appreciate the additional voice detail that my older unit lacked: "Turn left at the next stoplight/sign. I was relieved and happy that I was able to buy the last remaining unit at my local store AND at sale price. This rush purchase sure made all the difference in my easy and safe travel.

I'm an excellent driver... equally, a navigator. I seldom need a map and if I've been somewhere once, I have a photographer memory and know the lay of the land. HOWEVER, that was until I met parts of West Virginia, at night. Had to get one of these to be able to get my work done while down here, traveling from stop to stop per work orders. Without this device, I would have never been able to do that. DEFINITELY worth the money... especially now (as of this writing on 12/20/19) at the price of $99.99! Don't hesitate or read anything else... JUST GET IT! ~ Johnathan PS - Had it on my windshield, turned on and giving directions in under 2 minutes, no instructions necessary. It's that easy, I swear!

This is a great addition for anyone wanting an accurate, easy to use and affordable GPS... This is the third Garmin that I've purchased (it was a gift) and I'm completely sold on them. I still have the one I purchased years ago and it's still awesome!!

I really like this GPS! I know that I am "direction ally challenged" - meaning I really hate driving someplace I have never been and not sure how to get there. But with this GPS I am more confident and also feel safer knowing there is a path for me to get where I am going! It is easy to use and I feel it was at a good price too. Overall, I would recommend this for someone like me who needs some help getting where they need to go! I have used it a couple of times and so far so good - I type in the address I am going to and then the GPS tells me where to go to get there.

Price was fair, unit works as expected. Maps are up to date. Better than my smart phone and loud enough too hear. Only wish there were a larger selection of mounting brackets. Something that would stay close to the windshield. Minor deal.

I rent cars several times a year and none of the rental companies except for Avis offer GPS. So since I use Avis, Enterprise and Hertz depending on the need I wanted to have a GPS every time I rented. So it made sense to purchase a Garmin GPS device with the ability to upgrade the maps at no charge permanently. The devise worked perfectly right out of the box, no updates were required. Best of all the suction cup device to mount on the window worked perfectly on the rental car. I couldn't be happier......

We really like our Garmin. It does the job perfectly. Looking back, we wish we had spent a little more and bought one with a better battery, but that would only be for convenience. This one really doesn't have a battery where you can use it without being plugged in. A little bit of a nuisance, but doesn't affect the products ability to perform. It is fast and easy to find destinations and does a great job in letting us know which lanes to be in when getting off exits. We didn't really care for the preloaded voices, so I downloaded more voice changes from the App. Overall, we are happy with our purchase and would recommend this to anyone looking for a basic Garmin to get them from A to B.

I bought this initially because I didn't trust my phone for a 5 hours each way road trip several states away. It's incredibly reliable, great directions, and can recalculate quickly! It also has a nice feature of letting you know where nearby stops are (e.g. gas, fast food, hotel). Well worth the money! It even comes with a suction cup that can be easily mounted to your front window. You do have to keep it plugged in the majority of the time as with any GPS it has a small battery. The cord is plenty long to get to a mobile charging spot in the vehicle though.

6th Garmin GPS - and not because they are bad

We have 5 cars in our family. Each is now equipped with a Garmin GPS. These days when we have all forgotten how to read maps with one hand on the wheel - or in the hands of a frazzled spouse, a good GPS is indispensable. Of course you can use your phone - until you lose the signal, but I prefer to take the belt and suspenders approach and have the option of using my phone or my GPS. And maybe both if the address is not clear. This GPS is the 6th and is on the shelf just in case one of the other 5 fails. It is cheaper to buy one during Black Friday sales than to risk failure during the year. With free lifetime map updates, no one in the family should ever get lost! The Garmin interface varies from one model to the other, but this particular model is easy to use and very affordable.
