    Nice for trips

I have been a couple places where Google Maps got me lost. I don't know why. It was consistent near Arizona Mills Mall, for example. I had an older Garmin, and it was able to get me through. When I broke my old, faithful, GPS, I wanted a new one. This is perfect. Another reasoning for me is that I like to have my phone handy when I am in a rental car. I might have it on the passenger seat, where it's rotating around. That's not good for navigation purposes. I was worried it might not have the same quality as my older unit. It is. It has the split views, which I find very helpful I actually prefer the screen display. I used it recently on a trip. It was nice for the rental car, because I could mount the GPS, and my phone could be on the passenger seat. It does connect to my phone app for traffic. I haven't had any issues with that. It can be updated via WiFi. I used my PC and USB, and it was much faster than estimated. I find it a little more tedious for finding an address or business. That's the other reason I want my phone free. I still use my phone to get the address, and then I type it into the GPS.

This is my third Garmin GPS. I still haven't figured out how to use all the options, because each model is different, but I know they are all there and Garmin support is wonderful to call when I become desperate. I love knowing what time I'll arrive, the name of the street I am currently on, how fast I'm driving and when I exceed the speed limit. I've become so dependent on them that I literally panicked when my last one died and I realized I no longer remember how to get anywhere without it!

So far, works pretty good. Straight out of the box it got me everywhere I needed to go without a problem. No issues so far, was able to understand me anytime I asked to find a new address. I like it and recommend.

This Garmin-Drive Smart 55 & Traffic seems to be performing well. Put it on the dash. Did not fit where factory GPS was located. This is a smaller screen but sufficient for our viewing. Pleased with it.

About ten years ago I had a GARMIN and it worked but was very frustrating to use. This new GARMIN 55 is very good. I am using it in a 2019 Dodge Caravan that doe not have built in navigation, I have only used for short trips in town to try it's features but I like the the "turn at next light" type announcements. Also when you deviate the original route it doesn't nag you to "turn around" etc . Instead it tries to re-navigate and seems to be much smarter than ONSTAR which is installed in my wife car. We are trying to plan a thousand mile trip using the GARMIN 55 but CoVid is stalling our plans.

Purchased this to replace older Garmin and It sure has the features. Especially like that you can sync with app on your phone to enter addresses on phone and it sends directly to the gps.

I bought the Garmin because of the size of the screen. It is very easy to operate. The voice commands given as you drive are not repetitive yet gives you enough time to change lanes.

The Garmin DriveSmart 55 is a godsend while traveling in areas unknown. Love the myriad of information displayed clearly on the screen, like what road the traveler is currently on, what road is next, the speed limit and miles per hour the car is traveling. Also useful are the displayed maps and multiple lanes that are upcoming. The device had a larger screen than previous versions and it is thinner. It is easily carried in a pack, waist bag or purse when not in use in the car. Don’t leave home without it.

On vacation my GPS broke. Stopped by the local Best Buy, and the local representative in the store took good care of me. The GPS worked fine right out of the box. Once I got a chance to connected to Wi-Fi, it loaded up all the new maps without a hitch.

Product is nice BUT Box Picture shows the Left side with the Internet Map and the Right side viewing the Actual Street view. After paying almost $200 and opened the box to update the GPS and activate the Instructions stated IF YOU WANT the Actual Street VIEW ( which is WHY I purchased this specific model) you will have to pay $5.00 for this feature! Garmin should have stated this on the front of the Box!

I love the many features on the Garmin DriveSmart 55 GPS, especially the map updating using WiFi. Very easy to do. Very easy to program, almost self-explanatory and doesn't take much to figure it out. Two things I would like with it: 1) a brief printed manual to get started and 2) a little more mapping accuracy-the first routing I requested to Ft. McHenry, 20 minutes drive away. routed me through and around Baltimore and would have taken a 1 1/2 hours drive. I've used the GPS only a few times since then but fortunately, the subsequent routings have all been very accurate and quickly updated when I chose to deviate from the recommended routing.

I have been using Garmin GPS drives for last 7 years. I prefer using a GPS device than a Smart Phone as for the convenience of GPS over a phone and MAPS and directions are much better displayed. This GPS although much technological advanced has some flaws than its previous version. The fist draw back is the voice modulation in this GPS is bad than the previous one and what ever you do its does not help. Also the 5" version I have been using for last 6-7 years had more option of display icons like arrival time , distance left , etc.where as this one only give one display option at a time. However you can connect to you bluetooth device and receive and make calls easily.

One of the best GPS systems we have had. The display is a tad small, usually only when the phone is connected and messages pop up on the screen is when it can be a bit hard to see. However, this can be disabled and still have the connection and it’s perfect.
