I bought this Garmin GPS just before heading out for Florida taking a different route than usual from Michigan. It worked great! VERY nice display...larger than my previous device. Very good, clear instructions, quite user-friendly and easy to figure out without having to get into the 'instruction book'. I was a bit disappointed at the selection offered @ Best Buy, but I am happy with my new Garmin. It was a good choice.

Easy setup. I use it on my motorcycle. Great screen. Easy to see in the sun. Works great with my Leader ball mount. Far superior to the TomTom I replaced, which separated from it's magnetic base 30 minutes into my ride and ended up in pieces on I-90 after hitting a bump. Bluetooth works well with my phone.

I already had the Garmin DriveSmart 65 which is smaller than the 55. I love being able to speak to the GPS and it responding to my command. The 55 was a Father's Day gift from my wife who had already purchased a 55. This Garmin has more actions to it and warnings of construction zones and traffic back ups. What I love most are the larger prints on the larger screen. It is the best Garmin I have had over many years.

I had a Garmin Drive 51, and it could not receive any signal. So I returned it and bought this. This one is way better than the Garmin Drive 51. The touchscreen isn't that sensitive, it gets full bars outside, and there are more features like making calls on it by connecting your phone during setup, you can connect to Wi-Fi, and it has built in bluetooth, as it says on the title. The speakers sound good and clear.

The display is sleeker making it easier to see and use. The volume is better making it easier to hear. Be sure to use the car charger designed for this unit. We tried using the older model car charger which works but not for traffic updates. Apparently the new car charger has additional antenna power to pickup radio trnasmissions from all the major traffic and news outlets.

8 year old Garmin gps died and I needed a new one. Old one was great so my expectations were high. Went with this Drivesmart 55 after reading many reviews. I have been using it regularly for a month now and love it too. My old one didn’t have voice recognition so that has taken me some getting use to, but it seems to work okay. I love the directions and landmarks for turns. Excellent so far.

I purchased this for a vacation trip because we needed to take a route to a different area to pick up our grandson. It assumes the route based on your settings and was taking us onto roads and traffic I did not want. I finally figured out the only efficient way to program it with my routes was Garmin's Base Camp software (free) with the unit hooked to the PC. Once you save your route in Base Camp then you can send it to the device. Once you start the device with your route saved you have to select Apps>Trip Planner>Saved Routes to get to your route(s). You can plan a trip on the device but I haven't tried that. Another caveat. At some point we had to deviate from the planned route and the device asked to recalculate. Near as I can tell if you say Yes it recalculates on it's assumptions NOT your route. There is a suction cup mount included in the package. My experience with these has been mixed so I purchased a Garmin Friction Mount Pad for the dash. These always see to work better for me. Physically the device is quite lite and thin. I have large hands and felt like it was going to slip out of my fingers all the time. Subsequently, trying to hold it off the mount often resulted in changing something through accidental touching of the screen. If it is on a secure mount that should not be a problem. Had it not been so difficult to get it to do what I wanted it to do I would have given it 4 or 5 stars. Would I recommend it? Yes, along with advice to understand that Garmin has designed it to make many assumptions for you. I hope my information helps.

Good GPS already traveled to Georgia with it. My only problem with this unit is, it must stay plugged in while driving.
