Great running watch & pretty good fitness tracker

Great at being a GPS watch with basic functionality. Garmin android app is excellent. Step tracking is good. Docking a star due to some minor nuicances that on their own wouldn't be much of an issue, but are cumulatively pretty annoying. I have occasional trouble pairing with my phone that takes some messing with to work again, the move alert and button tones both turn themselves back on after a while, even though I've turned them off, and my text messages stopped displaying the body on the main screen when I receive them. The SMS messages now just display the sender and a +1 for the message, this just started happening after the last firmware update. Battery life is amazing, though. I charge mine maybe once a month. Also picks up satellites very quickly, usually within about five seconds.

I have owned Garmin watches for several years and have always been happy with their performance. This watch really set the bar for me. When I use the free Garmin Connect app on my iPhone the watch not only acts as an activity tracker but as a smartwatch as well - giving me all my notifications (text, calls, Facebook, Instagram, etc) right on my wrist. Awesome!!!

    Solid watch

I bought this watch to keep track of pace, distance and time while running. It was chosen from amongst all others because it had gps, would upload data via Bluetooth and the price was reasonable. It's a great watch and does everything EXCEPT the Bluetooth. There is a bug in the garmin app and the watch will not sync unless unpair it, forget it from my iPhone, and turn the watch off. Then everything gets turned back on and repaired. I called garmin and they told me to do everything I have just listed. So no help there. If they could fix the sync issue this watch would be 5 stars.

It does exactly what it should: locks onto GPS quickly, is accurate, battery lasts a long time, and connects online to Garmin Connect to store your previous runs. The upside of this model versus a lower model is the ability to upload via Bluetooth on your phone (iOS, Android, or Windows Phone).

Pretty easy to learn, mostly useful

The Garmin Forerunner 25 is a very good watch. I learned how to use it pretty quickly, it took me one run to figure it out, but I did find it a little difficult to discover how to connect my watch to my phone but I did ulitimately discover that you don't need the calories tracker app that is suggested by the garmin connect app to connect your two devices, but also that calories app is quite annoying since the struggle to connect it with your garmin app is basically impossible. The watch itself is very good. Nice and light, aesthetically pleasing, easy to use during runs. One thing that bothers me is how difficult it is to manage during sprint workouts. Being a crosscountry runner sprint workouts are a must and starting the watch to set time takes time, you can't just press the run button because that requires the gps and so it has to find it. Instead you have to select the indoors mode so it doesn't use gps unfortunately that makes it not as accurate. So that's a slight struggle. But the rest of the watch is perfect. Also when you sync your watch with your phone and the garmin app your specs to how your watch displays certain things and plays sounds to certain settings is set back to default or however your app had it set at, so annoyingly changing your watch settings is mostly a must through your phone instead or else it won't be permanently set. But I still love this watch a ton, it is highly impressive.

Probably the best GPS watch for the money. Lot's of features, less some high end features, like won't predict race finish time. Instructions waaay insufficient. Have not idea the math behind, "Avg Lap Pace." WTH is that? Also, have not learned how to name routes, and my next learning disaster will be how to use this for track intervals. I'm going to push that question out to my running club as I don't have hours to spend gleaning info from user forums online.

Wanted to give this a five but there are a few annoying things about this watch. First the pluses. GPS turns on quickly. It is very easy to follow your pace. The minuses are no second hand when used as a watch. I found it hard to first use it as I am not a techy. I bought a Fitbit and returned it because it was not comfortable. This is light and very comfortable.

Size is a little intimidating at first, but easy to adjust to. I just wish it had vibrating alerts for smart notifications instead of a tone, other than that, it's great! GPS works well on runs/walks, display is nice and big, easy to read in broad daylight

I bought this watch to help me keep track of my training and running stats. It was great for a beginner but as I advanced and wanted to do things like intervals and running sets, the watch wasn’t the best for those, you can set them but for only one interval at a time rather than a set of 5 or something. I do like all the features of Garmin connect and that I could share them with the people I was training with and see trends and things

This watch replaced an older Forerunner, which I also liked. This one is quite bit easier to read, especially in low light. The band is more comfortable as well, and seems easier to keep clean. It is nice to be able to sync without a cable, as that makes bringing it on trips a lot more convenient. Only downside is that it's a running watch - not a biking one, but Garmin Connect makes it easy enough to switch it afterward..

This unit has good battery life, and simple to use. So many GPS units have lots of features that are not needed but this one tells me how far I've gone and how fast and that's what I need. The digits are large enough for me to see while I run, the one improvement opportunity there would be to make the digits bolder just as my old Nike plus GPS watch. It could be a bit more stylish like the old Nike plus.

I do not see myself using a heart monitor that goes around my chest. It would have been better to purchase a product that had this built in. Otherwise, this is what I need,

Had this thing for years before I got a smartwatch and it was worth every penny. I didn't often use it for running but when I did, it was very specific and gave very good data. It showed, average pace, best pace, elevation change, heart rate if you had the monitor and much more.

I've only had this watch for about 2 months but the gps takes quite a bit longer than any of my other garmin watches. Right before a race it lost my location & had to start the gps over after the race had already started.
