This is a good basic smart watch. I use for running and indoor cardio. I didn’t want the confusing bells and whistles that other watches had. Very accurate heart rate even with out optional strap.

I have been through numerous activity trackers/smart watches. I have also read more product reviews and watched more videos about these things than I care to remember. What I would like is a durable smart watch with GPS, HR that is kind of accurate, activity tracking for several different activities, a readable display, and at least 5 days battery life. If I could get all that under $200, that would be great. I bought this Forerunner 35 to replace a Forerunner 235 with broken face glass ($100 to get that fixed if you care to try). The Forerunner 35 has the features I was looking for, the size and looks were not bad, and it came in well under $200. That said, the HR tracking is just as bad on the 35 as it was on the 235. In general, if you want good HR tracking get a sensor that goes around your chest. The GPS on the 35 is very slow to find a signal compared to the 235, and sometimes won't find a signal at all unless the device is power cycled. Sometimes when you power cycle, the device won't turn back on until it gets a few minute to rest or whatever it does. The display is always on and is easier to read than the 235 without the backlight on. The battery lasts 5 to 7 days with the HR tracking turned off at all times (not much point in having it on if it is wrong). Overall, this is the best activity tracker/smart watch I have purchased. So, that should mean it deserves 4 or 5 stars, but the other devices I have tried are poor at best, so this Forerunner 35 is the best of a bunch of poor devices. At this point, I am going back to an actual watch, and I will measure my activity based on sweat and waist size.

I had the older style Garmin for years then replaced it with another one when it was no longer being made. I hated the idea of change & am technically challenged. I find this watch to be very easy to use & would not want to go a day without it. I monitor my steps & now everything else this watch offers me on a daily basis. I easily average over 25,000 steps on an average day.

I purchased this unit to use as an entry level device until I could afford a bigger name brand smart watch. I have to say that with all of the features it has and how well it works I really don’t see the need in putting down the extra money for a more expensive unit. This one does everything I need and more plus I have money left in my pocket. Good job Garmin!!!

I use this watch for running, biking and walking. It is a step up from my previous watch. I love that it will report my heart rate without having to use a chest strap. The GPS seems very accurate. There are many settings you can use to do running intervals. Very happy with my purchase.

This is my first fitness watch, just wanted a basic watch that could track my workouts and upload into Strava. I don't wear it daily, only when I work out and battery life is pretty good on it. The watch loses connection though after a day or two so you have to re-start the watch and re-sync the BT with your phone which can be annoying at times. Besides that, I like the watch

I feel like I bought a Lexus when I only needed a Ford. I am not a runner, race walker, cyclist. I wanted a simple unit to keep track of my heart rate during my daily 1 hour pool work out. Had I been smart I would have called Garman and told them what I was looking for and bought accordingly. It is a fine product but far more sophisticated than I needed. I would recommend it to anyone who is a serious jock.

I have had other trackers and I prefer this one by far over all the others. The only issue is sometimes it does not sync with the app but it eventually fairs.

I have gone through 3 Pebbles and didn't want to spend the $ on an Apple Watch, so this was the best choice for me. I can ditch my bike computer and not miss it. It holds a charge muchhhh longer than a Pebble too. The GPS pulls on the battery, but I don't use it all the time. I only wish it had a calendar......

I bought this after receiving a recommendation to go with Garmin after the band for my Fitbit Surge broke. The build seems to be good. The band seems to be a bit less rigid that the Fitbit Surge, but I think that may make the Garmin a bit more durable in the long run. There is no touchscreen. Menus have to be scrolled thru by using hard buttons on the sides of the watch face. Not really a deal breaker though. The watch will vibrate with notifications and alerts for apps, and you can choose which apps have that permission. There is a backlight for checking the watch time or other info at night/in the dark, but again, that has to be manually chosen. I actually prefer this to the Surge, which would constantly have the backlight turn on if I moved my arm too quickly or whatever. The charging cable is a bit strange and proprietary, and I feel that it could be longer. However, the Fitbit charging cable was also proprietary in some ways. The Garmin app is decent, but in some ways I liked the Fitbit app's design a little better. The watch works well for what it does, and more importantly for what I need. I can go to the gym to do my workout and feel that it can survive most workouts. I still haven't figured some of the other features it supposedly has, such as rep counting and VO2 monitoring. It works well, but it might still be a bit overpriced. Still, i would recommend it, especially if you can get it on sale or something.

Bought for my wife who runs half marathons and exercises daily. She wanted something that would monitor her heart rate and also let her know how many calories she was burning. She has small wrists nd it fits her well and it's not bulky. She wears it everyday. She likes it so much that she bought one for her mother as a birthday present.

The watch does everything I need it to, and more. I really like the sleep and calorie functions that work with the my finess app. The software on my phone and computer works seemlessly with the watch. Very impressed with the battery life. If your looking for a capable running watch but without all the complicated stuff that goes with some of them this is the watch for you.

I purchased this for my wife. She has LOVED it! There was one small issue that we had at the beginning in regards to text notifications. The setting kept changing on its own...it wouldn't stay on. After a few days of turning it on and off, disconnecting it, and resetting it, we got it to work. It has so many great features...the best one is having the heart rate monitor on your wrist! No more chest band!
