This watch is a convergence of Garmin's precise and feature-rich GPS athletic tracking, smartwatch features, and popular activity trackers. After several years of loving use, I decided to upgrade from my Forerunner 405. I have been very pleased with the upgrade. The Garmin Forerunner 630 is sleek, easy to use, but best of all, full of the great features to make it a top notch fitness tool. My favorite features include bluetooth connection to sync with my SmartPhone which uploads to GarminConnect. I use this to import my workout data over to my fitness app of choice, MapMyRun. The SmartPhone dashboard gives me an easy customizable view of the daily data I choose; steps, sleep, running workouts, and more. Plus, the watch has audio controls for easier ability to control the phone's audio during a race or long run. It uses the new Garmin GLONASS for even better GPS performance. And, I love the touchscreen functionality. It is a vast improvement over the touch bezel and the screen lock/unlock is much simplified. It still can be paired with an optional heart rate monitor for those who want go even deeper into the tracking rabbit hole. But, you can also pair it with an optional foot pod for better tracking of indoor workouts.

As a runner, garmin has been my preferred brand for years. The garmin name, paired with the Best Buy coverage guarantee - it doesn't get any better. Not to mention their price match guarantee. This also has some functions of a smart watch. Amazing product for competitive runners.

The 630 is a nice watch to record your workouts. The touch screen is not for everyone.

The touchscreen went out on me twice so I ended up trading it for the 230. Love the watch and all the functions.

I am an avid runner that also bikes, swim, rock climb and hike-- so pretty much anything under the sun in terms of outdoor activities (NOT golf, ugh boring). Though not quite new to gps sport watches this is my first Garmin. I was using Suuntos, an old M5 and Ambit, for years which until recently, served my needs well. I had been using my phone for runs through the nike+ app but I wanted a real training device that will help improve my training. I have recently had a child but kept with my runs throughout my pregnancy and feel I need help getting back to my pre-baby form. Having read reviews about gamin's flagship pure running watch I was intrigued. I thought the 235 would more than serve my needs given its dedicated running features and the built in hrm. I hated wearing chest straps while training and they were always a pain to clean and maintain, so the 235 would have been more than enough. But- seing how the market is flooded wit refurb 235 and the complaints about inaccuracies of the hrm, I knew I could live without that feature. All I really need is an accurate gps tracking watch that's built well and has "some" running specific metrics and either the 230 or 630 would do. Having found a deal on the 630 (cheaper than the 235) it was a no brainer and I'm happy I pilled the trigger. It is great at tracking my runs. Super accurate gps+glonnass and quick to connect too (3 secs tops). The build is less plasticky compared to the 230/235 and the band is soft. My only complaint is the sometimes finicky touch screen and the silly hamburger sign that can be unresponsive. Other than that, this is an awesome watch if you can get it for an awesome price!
